Brayleigh

I had decided a long time ago that the guy who put a ring on my finger would be one that checked every box on my list.

✓ Looks
✓ Money
✓ Social Standing

Some sexy fireman was not going to change anything. Drunk or not, I knew to keep my feelings locked up tight with men who didn’t meet that standard.

Carter

Taking a prim princess home for the night was a safe bet. She’d wake up to her mistake, realizing I didn’t live in a mansion or sleep on twelve-hundred thread-count sheets. It never failed, she—whoever it was that night—bolted before I’d even had a chance to stretch.

Wham bam, thank you, ma’am. No strings attached.

…Until Brayleigh.

4.5 stars! Hope you’ve got a fire extinguisher around because this story is hot! 🔥 Carter can take down my door with an axe any day of the week. The man was sexy, but he was also down to earth, caring, and a natural protector. Brayleigh started off somewhat arrogant, spoiled, and uppity but she grew on me as the story progressed because there was more to her than that first impression. She had hidden depths that seemed to come to the surface the more time she spent with Carter.

”I kissed her, taster her, memorized the way she held me.”

The sensual scenes were scorchingly erotic. The writing was solid. The pace was good except I would’ve liked for the wrap up to have been longer. I very much enjoyed this sexy quickie and look forward to reading what the authors come up with next.

No Strings by Mila Hart
Erotic Romance Novella, standalone in a series
I was excited to read No Strings because of the authors that make up Mila Hart: Stephie Walls and Kristie Leigh (Kristie’s debut). But I honestly didn’t register that the type of books they write are short erotic romances. I’m not sure why I thought it was rom-com so I was a little surprised at first. I want to say straight up that this is not my normal genre. But if you are a fan of some of the other author duos who write erotic novellas, then No Strings is totally up your alley.

When we first met Brayleigh, I had some mixed feelings. I love that she was not a virgin and made no apologies for being a sexual creature.
“One and done. In and out. Guys did it all the time, and I wouldn’t apologize for having a good time.”

But with her being a socialite, having rich entitled friends and enjoying the hookup, I felt like she and her friends were the girls you love to hate, you know, the ones that flirt with your guy without a care. Nothing they did made me like them, they just seemed like rich snobs. But once she hooked up with Carter, the hot birthday guy she met in a bar, I started warming up to her.

I loved Carter right away, he was the perfect alpha who needed a good woman, but only wanted no-strings. They both couldn’t forget the other, but they both knew the rules. One night, no strings.
“I could tell by looking at her, she wasn’t the fireman’s girlfriend type, which worked out perfectly because this fireman wasn’t looking for a girlfriend. Just a night."

But when they are thrown together again, will the spark turn into a flame that can’t be extinguished?

When they meet again and we get to know Brayleigh more I warmed up to her a lot and really liked them together. Plus the sex was HOT.

Likes:

•A quick one-sitting read (also one-handed!)
•Very hot.
•It felt complete which I find rare for novellas.
•By the end I loved all the characters.

Dislikes:

•I REALLY disliked the heroine and her friends at first, but luckily they grew on me.
•There were a few minor details that didn’t make sense. I had an ARC, so these may have been fixed prior to release.

The Down & Dirty:
I didn’t realize that No Strings was a short erotic romance (though it says it on all their branding!) and honestly, that isn’t my normal read. I feel like I can’t rate a novella on the same scale as a full-length book because there is no way that ANY novella will live up. But if you know going in that it’s a short, erotic romance in the same style as a few other writing teams, then I think you will find this a very enjoyable read. I will admit though, that loving the heroine of a story is my necessity in loving a book, and at first, I really disliked Brayleigh. Though she won me over in the end, as did the whole story, if it wasn’t an ARC I had committed to read I would probably have DNFd.
I am SO GLAD I stuck it out and got to know the real Brayleigh behind the society bitch, and now that I know what to expect, I am really looking forward to the next Mila Hart story.

Rating (Novella Rating): 4 Stars, 4.75 Heat

This book is my first by Mila Hart, it is well written and flows along nicely. The beginning was gripping and it drew me in.

The story of Brayleigh and Carter is sweet. These two are both commitment-phobes and are happy to just have one night stands; they are from completely different backgrounds and shouldn’t match, but they do! Oh, boy do they! These two are burning hot and, when they let their walls down, they are totally compatible.

Carter is a sexy firefighter and is so very sweet. He and his best friends are just loving life. They have a laugh and are very committed to their job. Swoon. I definitely would love a Carter in my life.
Brayleigh is a rich girl who doesn’t want to settle down. I could not relate to her lifestyle but I would like to know her, she seems like a woman who has it all together. She loves her life and does this with her two best friends as her sidekicks; she needs no one else.

I did enjoy this story, however, I found that the timeline was a little confusing as it started in the middle, went back to the beginning, then picked up in the middle again. Apart from that though it was an enjoyable read.

A quick, steamy read that I enjoyed very much. Brayleigh and Carter, both out for a quick hook up, found each other and during their short time together, something changed. Circumstances then brought them back together and made them realize their feelings for each other. The story line was quick, but these authors gave us a great story with some wonderful side characters in Brayleigh and Carter’s friends. 4 Stars #2OCCMS

Neither Brayleigh nor Carter is looking for strings from their one night together. But when fate brings them together again when her building is set on fire thanks to a candle she accidentally knocked over, neither can ignore their pull to each other. That's not to say that a relationship is in the works, though, because Carter is still afraid of strings, and so is Brayleigh.

Insta-love can be OK if done well and if both characters are substantial enough to carry their part of the story. Unfortunately, neither Brayleigh nor Carter is particularly deep or likable, especially Brayleigh. She's a spoiled party girl who lives off her dad's post NBA fame and money, who apparently has an unnamed job that brings in a meager income, and she doesn't do commitment. Why? I'm not sure, it's not really specified. It's explained why Carter doesn't do commitment or relationships, but the reason is pretty lame. All in all, this story is meh. Meh characters who aren't any more substantial than a cardboard cutout, and it's insta-love at its worst. The reason for 3 stars rather than 2 is because it's really hot. Not hot enough to overcome the lack of depth, but hot enough to avoid 2 stars.

Love Love Love this read.

Ok, to start just look at that cover. I love me a fireman. Mila Hart is a new writing duo. They did great for me the first time around. She created two very strong and likable characters in Brayleigh and Crater. This is a quick and fun read. The flow and pace were fast and once you get started, you get upset because you are so invested and now it's over. Not in a bad way I'm just being greedy. I wanted more. I loved reading about them. I wanted to be able to click more pages on my kindle.

You have Brayleigh and she just wants one night. She doesn't want a relationship. she just needs her needs met. She goes looking for men that don't meet the standards her parents want for her. They want high society not blue collar and they try to set her up and want her back home with them, to do just that.

Carter. Carter is a firefighter looking for the same thing. He wants absolutely no strings. His job is too high risk and he is married to his job.

Carter and Brayleigh meet when they both out clubbing with their respected friends. When their eyes meet from across the bar the sparks fly. They’re combustible together and oh so very hot. They have their one and they go their separate ways or so they? A short time later they meet up again under a bit different circumstances and the sparks are still there. They both can't stop thinking about one another.

As I said quick fun and easy read. There aren't a bunch of players in this book but the important ones are there. I loved Nick, Carters best friend the I loved Brayleighs friends too, especially Riley. I can't put my finger on why I just do. I would love to read about Riley.

I would recommend this book and as I said I can't wait for the next book from Mila Hart.

No Strings by Mila Hart (2.5 Stars)
Brayleigh is a socialite that comes from money and has no real direction in which her life is going. One thing for sure is, she does not want to marry rich just to be the candy on the arm of some rich man. Carter is a fireman and leads a very simple life. And that is just it, he is comfortable with his life, his work and the odd one night stand. He does not have time for a committed relationship. When Carter and Brayleigh end up one night together, it is explosive but that is where it ends. Until fate steps in with a candle that causes one too many sparks. Once again Carter and Brayleigh’s lives are thrown together but could that be enough for them each to want something more from each other? I enjoyed the story and how Brayleigh progressed from a socialite to someone who became more compassionate. Yet there was something that was missing from this story. There was no real conflict, no angst, or building climax. It was just a case of some steamy moments and then a light bulb moment where the one wakes up and decides he/she can commit. The story was lacking a strong plot line and the character development needed more work. So for me, while I enjoyed the HEA I just felt like there were too many elements that were lacking.

All Brayleigh wanted was a one night stand.
All Carter could give was a no strings fling.
But just one night will change everything for both of them.

After meeting on night in a club, Brayleigh goes home with Carter knowing nothing but his name.
There's no reason for things to get personal because she has no intention of seeing him again. Even though there is instant chemistry between Brayleigh and Carter both of them stand firm in their decision for a one night fling but when Brayleigh accidental sets fire to her penthouse Carter is the one who shows up and saves her life.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. It's long enough to give enough details about the characters so that you care about them but it doesn't get bogged down with the should they/shouldn't they angst that some romance books resort to. I would definitely recommend this for a fun read with a HEA without all of the drama.

No Strings is a quick yet sexy read that this book whore devoured in an afternoon! While it may not be super long, it is not lacking at all. Brayleigh (l LOVE the name btw) and Carter will have you squirming in your seat from their chemistry and saying a prayer that they will see what they could have together instead of apart. I won’t go into a lot of detail but when you find out Carter’s reason it does make it more understandable but is it good enough to shove away possibly the best thing to ever happen to you? Well you know I am not going to tell you so you have to read the book, but I really loved Brayleigh and Carter together and would read another book featuring them in a heartbeat. If you are looking for a quick and sexy read then No Strings fits the bill and one you will want to read!

Carter is a firefighter who is not interested in any form of relationship except one-night stands. One night at a club he meets a beautiful woman, Brayleigh, and takes her home but no matter how much he is attracted to her, he pushes her out the door not wanting any relationship.
Yet when he finds himself meeting up with Brayleigh again he wonders if it is fate pushing him together but will he push her away again?
This is a good quick read about finding the one when you aren’t looking and really trying to figure out what you want in your own life.
I liked Carter and had no clue why he kept pushing Brayleigh away until he finally confesses what is going on with him. The two of them had so much chemistry and there was definitely lots of sex!
It was interesting that with what happened to Brayleigh we learn a little bit more about her life but I still found it kind of glossed over with her dad solving most things for her. I would have liked Brayleigh doing more for herself as I don’t think I even picked up if she had a career or not.
I thought the scene at the hotel was sad but funny on how everything got mixed up with the phone call to the fire station but I was glad that they were able to work everything out.
Everything progressed super fast between them but the story was enjoyable. By Rebecca

No Strings by Mila Hart is a standalone contemporary romance about second chances and making the most of them. Told in dual point of view between Brayleigh, the socialite with a heart and Carter, the fireman that captures it. A quick and sexy read about two people determined to keep things simple, a one night stand, no strings. The fact that they both feel something a little different in their night together doesn't stop either of them from going their separate ways at the end of it. It's the days that follow after when they can't stop thinking about each other that gets to them. When fate steps in and their paths cross one more time can they get out of their own way in time to make the most of their second chance?

Well-written and well-paced, this was the first book I've read from Mila Hart but it won't be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had humor and heat, angst and drama. Loved it! Enjoy!

No Strings By Mila Hart...This book was HOT!!! I love me some firefighters, so i was had at the cover, and firefighter Carter was OMG!!! Carter and Brayleigh meet at a bar and decide to take things further at his place, neither one want anything serious, they are both just looking for one night of fun. The universe has other ideas for these two, and the chemistry is off the charts, they have an amazing night together and no phone numbers are exchanged or anything else, then something happens that brings them back into each others orbits...will they see this as a second chance, or will they stick to their guns about no relationships? Guess you'll just have to read No Strings to find out!!

This was a fun quick read that is hot! The cover drew me in but the story kept me. Both Brayleigh and Carter are used to one night stands and walking away but they have no idea what there in for. They have amazing chemistry but they each have there own issues and Carter pushes her away when she needs him most. I will say she is more forgiving than most but im glad in the end they work it all out!!!

What should have been a hotter than hot one night stand between Carter and Brayleigh turns into something more. Every girl has joked about burning their house down to meet a cute firefighter, buy Brayleigh accidently does it. Who show up but her hot on nighter Carter. Carter doesn't want a girlfriend, yet he is constantly drawn to Brayleigh. Can two polar opposite people make it work in the day to day life? Carter is ready to have his first girlfriend.

A fast paced short story that I absolutely loved. A steamy hot fire fighter and a girl who wants a normal life not the high society who parents want for her. One night was all it was suppose to be between Carter and Brayleigh. Carter was out on the town for his birthday all he wanted was one night of hot sex for his birthday. Brayleigh was that girl. But neither one of them could get the other out of their head. Then something happens that changes things even more between them. Will they be able to realize what is right in front of them? Will Carter be able to put aside his fear and give Brayleigh a chance. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Carter and Brayleigh. Steamy hot not just in bed either. This was a story about getting a second chance at making the right decision. Well written enjoyable to read.

Oh boy... A new book... A new author... An explosion of words. Lol. I know that I'm not making sense right now but I really don't care.
Mila Hart spiked my curiosity just by reading the blurb and one look at the cover and I was hooked...
When I found out that one of my favorite authors had joined with another author and created Mila Hart I knew that I needed to read. I've been reading books by Stephie Walls for a long fine but I'm new to Kristie Leigh. Their writing is sweet but empowering, hard but soft and hot hot hot...
No Strings is their latest release and tells the stories of Carter and Brayleigh.
Brayleigh wants to rebel herself against her parents, so she seeks one night stands in guys that don't fit the requirements...
Carter is a firefighter, devoted to his profession that also seeks one night stands. Relationships aren't in the cards for him.
And then these two meet...
Sweet and perfect. These are the words that popped up in my mind after reading this book.
Perfect plot, very well written, super engaging and sweet. It was amazing to see how love can make you change your mind.
These two were perfect for each other but sometimes stubbornness is an obstacle that if you're not into it you can't overcome.
In life, nothing is for granted so you must live your life day by day.
Love, family, and friendship are very present as well as desire and second chances.
I'm so happy for the chance to read this book and I'm sad because it's over... So soon...
Tell me Mila... What's next?

SIGH!!!! I want a hot fireman of my very own. These two should never have found each other, they should have never made it past one night but what can I say....when you've found the one they get under your skin despite the fact that you don't want them there!

If only this happened in real life. Hot sexy and made for each other.

No Strings by Mila Hart is the story of Carter and Brayleigh.
Carter and Brayleigh meet at a night club where they don't exchange full names and agree to have one night fling. They do end up walking away from each other even though they feel the 'pull'. Then Brayleigh has a accidental fire that ends up bring the fireman Carter back into her world.
This was a quick hot read!

This book is 🔥🔥🔥 I loved this book so much! I mean hello the main character is a firefighter

Carter is a firefighter and stays away from love. He is all about one night

Brayleigh is a socialite and enjoys going on and enjoying one night with a guy

When Brayleigh and Carter meet sparks fly and it’s more than either of them are used too. How will they handle what could be more than one night?

Highly recommend this book and can’t wait for this authors next release.

The novel starts with two people, Brayleigh and Carter, both who have zero interest in commitment, having a hot, one-night hook up. But later, thanks to fate and an unattended candle, Carter and Brayleigh find themselves together again. However, as the heat continues to build between this unlikely couple, so does tension surrounding the issue of whether they want to commit to one person, or continue living life with no strings attached.

I was a huge fan of Carter in this novel, although he did frustrate me from time to time. I wasn’t sure about Brayleigh initially but ended up pleasantly surprised by her substance and character. I appreciate the way she is written and developed allowing the reader to watch Brayleigh grow from a spoiled socialite to someone that seems real and truly compassionate. Even better is watching Carter transition from a one-night-only guy to someone with incredible emotion and passion.

No Strings is filled with plenty of hot and steamy scenes, as well as, great banter between the main characters and their friends. But…

The problem? There just didn’t seem to be any real conflict.

Brayleigh seemed to go from zero to sixty concerning her emotions and feelings regarding Carter and relationships in general. Carter certainly had some internal conflict about commitment, primarily stemming from his profession and the risks. But otherwise, everything was just fine. Don’t get me wrong, I love a HEA as much as the next girl, I just wish there would have been a few more twists and turns in Brayleigh and Carter’s story. I think I needed more plot development to reel me in, fill me with anticipation and excitement, and hope for everything to work out between them…

No Strings is a super quick, steamy, and romantic debut from Mila Hart. I can easily recommend this to fans of light and easy romance novels that don’t want any life-changing themes interwoven in the story. I look forward to what this duo has planned in the continuation of the Blue Collar Collection.

"The entire experience was surreal, but it was, and it felt so right."

5 No Strings stars!!! Quick, steamy read with lots of emotion!

Brayleigh is a New York socialite and she's not looking for a relationship, she's more of a love them and leave them type of girl. Carter is a sexy fireman, looking for a hot hookup for the night, he has no time for a relationship and he's made a promise to himself years ago that he would never let a woman get too close to him. When these two meet at a nightclub and have one night of passion, neither of these two can deny the attraction they have. But still, no strings right?? But that all changes after one steamy night, no real information exchanged and no chance of these two meeting up again, when Carter plays hero and rescues Brayleigh from an apartment fire. Now lines have been crossed but can these two commitment phobes figure it out??

If you like a good, fast read with lots of hot sex, then this is definitely the book for you!! I loved the development of the characters and their background and their reasoning for their commitment issues. Was this technically and insta-love book, yes, but it's not like other insta-love books I've read... this one is passionate and beautifully written!! Definitely worth the one click!

I received an ARC in exchange for a review.

There are two things that I look for when I read a romance: the story and the heat level.

The good thing: the heat level doesn't disappoint. If I remember it right, there were 2 chapters that was just devoted to the sex scenes. The chemistry to produce these scenes are off the charts.

That being said, the story was a bit lacking. The two characters, Brayleigh (which I can still not pronounce in my head) and Carter had an instant carnal attraction. Which leads them to the no strings sex. Both have chosen this principle and abide by it until they met and had that one night. After that, they struggle to forget each other. Due to a situation, both are brought together to face the fact that there might be something more than just the mind blowing sex. I feel like the author could have gone deeper (and written more words) to explore why the characters have chosen to have no strings sex. I felt like that it was more written in a telling way narrative rather than exploring the backgrounds of each character. The novel was indeed a short read and the story could have been developed more.

If you want hot sex scenes, this is your book. If you want more of a plot to your romance, better pass on this.

The author is new and might have written other books that might have been more developed. I wouldn't mind reading her other works for comparison.

WOW, I want to know where to find myself a hot sexy Fireman like Carter. No Strings takes you to the next level with how perfect two people can be for each other regardless of their standing in the community.

Heading out for his birthday Carter can’t keep his eyes of Brayleigh, she is gorgeous and he cannot wait to get her home to inspect her body without the constraints of clothing. Brayleigh and Carter have 1 thing in common; one-night stands, once they have had their night, they go their separate ways knowing they are not looking for forever. When Brayleigh and Carter come face to face again there is no denying they have chemistry but will Carter push her away so far she won’t find her way back?

“I saw so many stars, I might as well have been in a different galaxy. The milky way had nothing on Carter.”

Carter and Brayleigh are fire engine red hot and their sexual chemistry is set at an all time high; their connection is instant and Hart wrote those scenes perfectly leaving me wanting more from these two.

I personally loved this story, if you are looking for a hot steamy read featuring a sexy Fireman then look no further!

4 stars for No Strings by Mila Hart. This is a standalone contemporary romance. This is written in Dual point of view, so we get Brayliegh and Carter’s side of everything. I enjoyed this story, it was a fast paced, fun read. We have Brayliegh who in the beginning I was not a fan of. She seems to be stuck up, spoiled and high maintenance. It seems that she wants a man for all the wrong reasons, money, looks and social standing. Carter is a firefighter who only really meets one of her check marks and that is looks. Carter wants one thing for his birthday and that is one night of hot sex, and he thinks Brayliegh is just the girl. However, the more they learn about each other they realize they are wrong about each other. HE learns that Brayliegh has a heart and he has captured it. The question is will Carter get over his fear and Brayliegh realize what she thinks she wants isn’t what she wants at all. Will these two realize what they could be together.
I loved everything about this book and can not say enough good things about it. The characters are great, the story while short is packed with all the feels that we as readers love. This is my first book from this author, and I am looking forward to reading more of her work. The cover and the blurb caught my eye and I had to read the book.

I'm going to be brutually honest, this one a boring read. Brayleigh is a somewhat uptight cow who wants sex with blue collar men, but not to date one. Carter is a fireman who recognises brayleigh for what she is and doesn't care, but when a fire leaves him rescuing her, it develops into something more and leaves Carter pushing her away.

OK, here's my take:

The storyline is COMPLETELY PREDICTABLE. I didn't once go, "oh, I didn't see that that coming." There were no twists, no surprises. Just a steady stream of rather bland sex and even flatter dialogue. You can see what is coming on the next page before you even read what's in front of you. Not good.

Too much telling, not enough showing. The writing is OK, but nothing special. It needs a developmental editor for certain.

Sex scenes. Urgh. For a sexy fireman story, this wasn't hot. The sex scenes reads like a good Christian mother trying to be a little naughty. I've read more exciting furniture instructions than these.

All in all, No Strings is a boring book that reads like a frustrated housewife is trying to put some excitement back in her marriage, or fantasizing about what could have been. The writing is far too childish for me, the plotline too basic and predictable.

Brayleigh is the socialite daughter of a former NBA player turned nightclub mogul. She’s not just a pretty face, though – she has a real job, even if it’s barely mentioned and she can work whenever she wants. Carter is a firefighter. His friends take him out to a club for his birthday and he and Brayleigh have a one-night stand, the goal of each of them for the night. Then Carter saves Brayleigh’s life when her apartment burns down and invites her to stay with him.

There is one big pet peeve I have with romance novels and that’s instalove. In this case it’s instalust being mistaken for instalove. They barely know each other but they are infatuated with each other. I kept thinking to myself “they would never last” and yet there’s the epilogue… The story between their meeting and the epilogue would have been so much better instead of jumping right from first getting together to their happily ever after. Reading about Carter and Brayleigh meshing their lifestyles, Carter and her father meeting and getting to know each other, Brayleigh around the fire house -there is so much more that could have made this a good story. As it is, there isn’t much there beyond a few nights of hotness and a few conversations. Carter doesn’t even know her last name!
