As a few others have said, it’s a bit dated. But that is to be expected for a copyright date of 2006. For someone who is considering something like building an airplane, this is a good start. Especially if you are not mechanically inclined. I really appreciated the author’s emphasis on “aircraft quality.” There is a difference to welding up your first welding cart and building an airplane.

I'm giving this five stars because it's an excellent reference on construction techniques, and I think if I'd read this before starting on the RV-10 with Jenna it would have relieved a lot of stress about how we were going to proceed. The RV-10's plans and associated forums are so good that we were able to get started, but this book gives a much broader overview of the entire kit plane process from selection to the first flight.
Recommended for anyone who wants to see what it'd take to do this sort of project. I'm sure there are a bunch of you out there who've wanted to try a project like this. Getting started is easy and cheap! Unfortunately you don't get to do anything with the $3,000 tailcone until you write a much larger check for an engine.
