I found this book rather mediocre. There's certainly some interesting material here but overall I felt that the novel was bit too rough around the edges. The writing isn't particularly good, the conflict between Talisker and Chaplin can get extremely tedious at times and the major battle sequences are frankly quite bad.

I don't think I'll bother continuing with the series.

Talisker is a book that that follows primarily the lead character of Talisker as he leaves prison where he was unlawfully jailed for murder. He has the ability to see through touch etc which led to his predicament as he knew to many things about the murders to have not have done them. The situation is made worse as the arresting officer is old high school friend Chaplin. Talisker and Chaplin find themselves world hopping. During the coursde of this events it becomes clear to Chaplin that Talisker is innocent. The portrayal on two friends on opposite sides and the struggles they go through until the truth is revealed and their continuing struggle in a foreign land are excellently portrayed and the world they travel to is excellently realised. This might sound a little morbid but there is a drak humour that runs throughout the book. A different take on on an alternate worlds a theme which leads to some clever twists! Brilliant stuff! :D

Talisker can see things by touching them, this led to his being convicted of murder because he knew too much about the murders. What adds to his issues is that the investigating detective is his former friend Allesandro (Sandro)Chaplin. When the murders start again, little do they know that it's not from this world until they're dragged into the other world and the ongoing war between the gods of this world and it's people.

It's interesting, sometimes it didn't quite work and it felt like people playing an online game where they slipped between one and the other in order to recover from what happened. The issues Talisker had were quite believable and I do want to see what happens next. More of a 3.5 than 4 but a solid 3.5

Everything you want in a far-fetched, escapist fantasy novel. Great characters, magic, swords, battles between good and evil, adventure, love, and faraway worlds. Got a bit lost at times as there was a lot going on and movement between plains of the characters' existence, but it was a fun read.
