I am a British poet from Epworth in North Lincolnshire.
I write a mixture of Christian and anecdotal poetry, reflections and the occasional short story.

My writing has been described by a fellow author as, "uplifting and akin to home made pie - the kind you would just like a little more of."

My poetry collection In the Palm of His Hand was published in March 2019 and is stocked by a number of cathedrals and minsters throughout the UK. It has also wended its way around the world - including Vatican City. It is being enjoyed as a book for personal devotion, group discussion as well as to aid illustration within church services. Seven Journal Notebooks are available featuring single poems from the collection - these can be found on Amazon and are being welcomed as a way of reflecting and creating in response to my words and or Bible references that are included.

My memoir His Guiding Hand fuses narrative and anecdotal poetry providing my testimony of the first 52 years of my life.

Poetry of the Sole provides reflections and poetry written during March 2020. It has been favorably featured in an online Christian magazine.

I have contributed to anthologies including When Petals Fall.

I can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn - all links via my website which also provides a list of stockists including Etsy.

I was given an ARC of this book for review by the publisher. All the following rambling, tangential thoughts are my own.

Pie is great. Most people enjoy a good pie. There are so many styles and flavors, fillings and flutings. Really, if enough time were spent, you could probably find a pie for everyone. Apple, peach, the ever dreaded or revered rhubarb, fancy, simple, store bought, homemade, warm, cold, savory, sweet, even sometimes salted. There's boundless pies throughout the world, and to those who make pies, different levels of expertise that can create delicacies ranging from gourmet to get it the hell away from me.

If IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND were a pie, it wouldn't be a fancy, top tier restaurant, spent all week brewing the fillings kind of pie. It wouldn't have itsy-bitsy slivers of almonds worked just so into the crust, so thinly sliced you can barely tell they're there (or that they spent three weeks soaking in a rare bottle of brandy only found in three parts of the world).

No. It would be better than that.

IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND would be the ultimate grandma's pie. Beautiful (but not ostentatious), delicious (but not so much that it feels foreign and unachievable), and when you're feeling down, there wouldn't be anything better for you. This book is the pie that someone hands you when life has been rough and you need something to lift you. This book is the pie that, when it warms up, it warms you up, inside and out. This book is the pie that gets put before a family and is met with oos and ahhs and at one end, someone feels a little like crying because it's not really home, or a holiday, or a family meal until this pie comes out. Its crust is golden and firm (with just a touch of caramelizing on one edge because Kate knows how much you love that). Its filling is both sweet and seasoned. It is the first thing you smell when you walk into the home, and you spend all night thinking about it, wanting to have it with you, and maybe even sneak downstairs in teh night to get just one more little slice.

Go on, cut yourself a piece. You know you want to.

Meditating and Marveling

The foreword really was very spot on. Beautiful and heart felt poetry for the LORD. In The Palm Of His Hand. What a lovely title. It moved me to tears from the start. I was blessed by this poetry book. Outstanding. 🙏
