I’m caught between a mob boss and a madman. I was drowning in debt with no way to get out. All I had left was my body…
Until Vin took that from me, too.
He offered me protection from my abusive ex. And saying no to Vin was never an option.
Now, I’m at the mercy of a mob boss. A vicious killer, with a kiss as filthy as his reputation.
Nights in his bed are spent stripping bare, bending at the waist, and doing EXACTLY as I’m told. And days by his side are spent seeing a criminal underworld I never knew existed.
For a moment, I thought this was my life now: Existing only for the mobster’s pleasure.
But then my ex came back to finish the job he started, and I remembered: This nightmare is far from over.
VIN is a full length standalone heist, mafia romance. It follows a desperate girl who falls into the arms of a vicious mob boss. Their story is SAFE (no cheating, no cliffhangers, HEA ending), but does contain physical intimacy and violence. Enjoy!
Nicole Fox writes smart, sexy mafia romance novels. She is a crazy cat lady in her late 30s with a coffee addiction, an overactive imagination, and a husband who somehow puts up with her impulsive need to keep buying new plants for their house.
The premise is interesting but the writing is horrible. Eliza is trying to escape her ex and runs into Vin, leader of the Romano crime family, who offers to help her for a price. This book has no chemistry whatsoever and the conflict is stupid.
Dark and angry mafia Don meets “innocent” abused woman on the run
This is a stand-alone read in the mafia / cartel genre. It contains scenes stereotypical of the genre, with examples below. The “intimate scenes” toward the beginning didn’t sit all that well with me. Despite Eliza being the one to propose trading her “assets” for a paint job that she couldn’t afford, the way things went down reeks of consensual non-consensual force.
The thing that struck me the most is how incorrect the BLURB is for this story. It made it seem that there was some large debt that was owed so she offered herself in lieu of cash, then they had s3x anywhere and everywhere in his house. This is not true. See below the warnings for sensitive readers for how the story begins.
⛔️ Contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges of anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc.; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, spanking for pleasure, “bottom” play, etc.; violence such as kidnapping, abduction, murder, death, torture, assault, fighting, betrayal, coercion, threats, money laundering, mafia / cartels, drug use, drug manufacturing, drug distribution, as well as the mental, physical and sexual abuse of females, domestic violence, etc.
** Caution: Contains scenes with reference to, or detailed graphic violence against females that fit into the storyline, but may be a trigger for some **
There are very few grammatical issues primarily comprised of incorrect word choice and tense, punctuation errors, missed words and extra inserted words. I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.
Here is a brief recap of how the story begins: Eliza is an abused woman that has escaped from her boyfriend, Ricky. He is looking for her and she knows that the car he gave her will make it easy for him to track her as it is bright pink. Eliza gets the idea that she needs to have it painted and goes into the first body and paint shop she sees.
Eliza has no idea how long, how much, etc. a paint job takes on a complete color change (and neither does the author). She thinks it can be done in a few hours for a few hundred dollars, so she is shocked when the price is estimated for $5k and will take a week if rushed.
Desperate, Eliza approaches the guy offering herself if he will help her out. The guy is just the manager and can’t help her, but then a man in a suit enters demanding to know what is going on and why she is behind the counter. The manager briefly and hesitantly explains that he was showing her the estimate. The man knows better, but tells her to come with him to his office and he will “talk” to him later.
Vin, the Don of the Romero cartel, gets Eliza to explain her offer to the manager, which she does. Still desperate, she makes the same offer to him. The difference is that as the owner he can take her up on it … and does. Vin takes her to his mansion and quickly realizes that things are not exactly what they seem.
It seems I can never pass up a Nicole Fox Mafia story. Vin is the latest one of her great Mafia Romance reads.
Eliza needs to leave town but not in the car she has now, she will never be able to hid that damn pink car. Vin had an auto body shop and Eliza brokers a deal to have sex with him and in turn he will have the car painted so she can’t be found, or so they thought that was what would occur.
In the course of one night Vin finds out that in reality Eliza has been living in an abusive relationship. Yes, Eliza did make the deal to get her car painted by she made the deal without being made to do it, not like the past few years where she has been emotionally and physically abused and kept away from her family and her friends by her now ex-boyfriend Ricky.
Vin remakes his deal with Eliza making her take some time to allow them to finish with the car, that he will protect her and if she wants to leave when the car is ready, she can no payment owed. Vin does this because he remembers hearing stories about his grandmother and how she had been physically abused by her first husband. He might be The Don, but he does have a moral compass when it comes to women.
Through the telling of Eliza and Vin’s story Fox brings Eliza’s abuse to the forefront especially when she is taken off the street by Ricky after thinking she was safe. Fox shows us that Vin does have a calmer side when he is trying to deal with Eliza but he also has a violent side which shows itself once he and his men find her.
Nicole Fox takes readers on a journey with Vin and Eliza from protecting her to realizing that he would do anything for her and do anything to keep her safe.
In classic Nicole Fox style once you reach the end of the book, your offered an extended Epilogue bringing the reader back into the lives of Vin and Eliza. We catch up with what Eliza has been doing and find out if any of those extra bedrooms have been used.
I love mob romances, particularly when the heroine who gets involved is completely separate from the mob and has to find her way in this new world. I had high hopes for this book, because it had a bit of the white knight savior thing going on, after all our heroine was running away from her abusive ex and just happened to stumble upon our hero, the mafia don. I was actually fairly disappointed in this book, it just didn’t grab my attention. It was good enough for me to finish, and there were a couple of things I did enjoy, but mostly it didn’t work for me. I felt like our H and h just didn’t have the best chemistry or bond, yet they were apparently both interested in jumping into a serious relationship after like a day and a half. There was really only one or two moments where I really felt like they had an emotional bond. Vin as a character was okay, he seems like of like a stand up don, since he basically took in a random girl off the street and then went all out for her. He does have some serious anger, and that makes things sometimes difficult for him with Eliza. As for Eliza. I didn’t like her. I wanted to. I just didn’t. She just didn’t feel very authentic to me. When the book starts she like confident enough to offer sex in exchange for car work, but at the same time she’s also meek and confused and scared. It got confusing trying to figure out which version of her I was going to encounter on the page. I also really didn’t like the way the book ended, which the compromises that Vin makes for her. Overall, this just wasn’t a book for me.
Forced myself to keep at it until 51%, then returned it after flipping and reading the ending pages. The heroine was straight up TSTL thinking her car could be painted in like an hour. Like, zero common sense there. They had several drinks throughout the 51% and all she had to eat in like a 24 hour period was an apple...I don’t get what the obsession is with drinking? All this “you need a drink” nonsense. The H, Vin, wasn’t even coming off mafia like. Pretty normal guy, not a very detailed impression. Bits of violence implied here or there. It was so BLAND! The dialogue...oh goddess. It was so bad! Not creative. Simple words. It was like reading a first draft copy that a non creative person was attempting to write. And the ERRORS! So many typos and grammar issues. And just flat out obvious mistakes. For example, in an h chapter she has a line of dialogue where she’s speaking to the H and then it says it came from him. Umm..no that was what she said to him. There are a few incidents like this! Did no one proof read and edit this? There just wasn’t any uniqueness to draw you in and hook you. I hate quitting books, but I finally just threw in the towel on it.
I thoroughly enjoyed read Vin. I’ve read several of Nicole Fox books and they have all been well written. I loved the storyline. I enjoyed the fact that Eliza was kidnapped earlier in the book and the main focus wasn’t the potential of her ex coming back to get her but her dealing with how to handle bringing her past to an end. Very different from what I usually see in these dark romance novels.the climax usual comes 70% into the book not 30-40%. Vin like most alpha mob boss meets girl and she is different for him. Though this is usually the case for most of the hero’s in these books I truly enjoyed and liked his character. But I feel like I don’t know much about Eliza how old she was or what her life was before her abusive ex Ricky. That being said I loved her character and that she no longer wanted to be a victim. And I suppose knowing about her childhood wasn’t necessary. I think though I can’t for the life of me tell you where the setting of this novel took place. Maybe I overlooked it or it simply wasn’t important but one of those random things I noticed. Not over the top sexual even though the story started with a proposition for sex for services Eliza couldn’t pay for. Irrespective of that well written and really enjoyed this book.
This has got to be some of her earlier work. Though it was good, it was a bit too fast pace with the falling in love. I still enjoyed it, but the way he jumped up to help her after only one day of knowing her, it just wasn't that realistic in my eyes. Vin and Eliza are the main characters in this. Eliza is running away from her abusive ex and Vin is the mob boss she runs into while trying to get her car re-painted. She offered the shop manager sex for painting the car but then Vin walks in and accepts her deal. She backs out of the deal on her end but all of a sudden he's doing anything for her. I wish there was more world building and character / relationship development.
I did like that she didn't immediately jump to the dark side of killing her ex. She actually took the time to think it through and then when she decided to do it... well... you know what happens.
There wasn't really much smut. Nothing really memorable. But there was somethings that I was just like ... "really". I don't remember them now, it's been a couple hours since I finished it, but yeah. Not my favorite by her but not too bad either.
Spice 1/5 Humor 0/5 Emotional 1/5 World Building 2/5 Overall 3/5
Had to skim through some parts because it just didn't flow. It went on and on about nothing. Eliza came across as a complete airhead, naive and immature. Felt no chemistry between her and Vin. Ready to trade her body in an instant to the mechanic to pay for her paint job and wants to take lessons to defend herself and learn to shoot a gun in case she decides to kill her abusive ex herself, but flips out on the mobster boss because she saw him throw a vase across the room, yelled & banged on the door. He was never abusive or violent with her. She was fine with the sex, new clothes, the lodgings and getting him to protect and her, but she couldn't handle his anger! Ah, duh, Incase you forgot, he is a mob boss. Of course he is going to yell occasionally. Mafia! girl, not the nice guy next door. Plus him considering anger management courses, really. Didn't work for me.
Eliza has so much to live for, but getting away for her ex is the number one priority. But can she escape in a hot pink car? Will Ricky find her? Can she stay safe? Can she make a deal with Vin and come out safe and secure with his love?
Vin is head of the Romero Family and when he sees Eliza in his auto body shop, he is curious and interested in her. But she makes him an offer he can't refuse? Will she go through with the offer? But can Vin be a better man and do right by Eliza when he knows her history, he tries and hopes that it will be enough.
Great mafia romance story. It has dark romance all over the place, love it!! But it has some triggers too. This story has love, lust, romance, drama, blood, twists and turns and so much more. It is intense and you will want to finish it the same day! I recommend this book! I received an ARC of this book from the author.
I wish this book was longer and more drawn out, to be honest, it seems like the mafia books are short reads and that is too bad I would like some longevity to the stories I liked Vin a lot he was bad but willing to go or what he wanted Eliza was a bit much I got the abuse part and I understand the staying part however I think that the meeting could have been done better. I wanted to like Eliza but I do wish she would have had more something what I am not sure what that something is but she was missing it. Parts of this story are to toss together and leave you confused I get he is a crime boss but give me some more info on the players and the needs of Vin. I still have no idea what Eliza did she had no back story that I can recall. The book was not bad I rad it quickly, however, it was missing some things for me.
I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Eliza though she was finely going to be free from the nightmare that she was living all she had to do was find a way to get out of town with out being seen and then she would be free but she forgot about her car she needed to change it but she didn't think it would cost so much and on top of it all she walked in to the one shop she should have. Vin just happened to walk in to his shop right after Eliza was trying to figure out how to pay for her freedom but what she didn't know is that the devil himself owned it and when she told vin what she would vin took her up on her offer but what he didn't know was about her past but there was something about her that he needed to have her
Vin and Eliza are the hottest couple I’ve read about recently. Eliza decides she has to escape from her abusive boyfriend. She throws a few belongings into the hot pink car he bought her and runs. She realized that the car is too easy to spot and track so she pulls into an auto body shop to have it painted. While she’s trying to bargain for the cost of the paint job in walks Vin the shop owner. He has another price in mind for the work. He takes her home for the time it takes the work to be done. However he develops feelings for the desperate woman and wants to keep her but they still have her crazy ex to deal with. He’s determined to get Eliza back and punish her for leaving him. Can Vin keep that from happening; keep Eliza safe with him and have their HEA? I very much enjoyed reading this ARC and am happily reviewing it.
Vin started as a fresh twist on a story as old as time - the knight in shining armor.
When he first storms in to discover Eliza, desperate and on the run, we dislike him immediately. But the dynamic between the two of them shifts quickly, and we start to see new sides of the titular mob boss. He's wry, generous, and has a little bit of a flair for the dramatic. And above all, he protects those around him. Writing Vin was a blast, because his protective nature really leaped off the page at me, while the parallels to Eliza's abusive ex force you to confront some tough aspects of who Vin is and what he does for a living.
Vin is a mob boss, and Eliza is escaping from an abusive ex, so she needs to sort out an arrangement with the mob in order to have their protection. There is an instant chemistry between these two, but will Vin be able to protect Eliza when her past comes back to haunt her? No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written story, which is filled with drama, action, twists, thrills, romance, and is a dark, steamy, and intense read. I was totally intrigued and hooked throughout, and look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
This book was exciting! It was off the charts for hot and steamy! Vin and Eliza had undeniable chemistry! Eliza had finally managed to escape her abusive ex-boyfriend. She knew there was no way to get out of town with the hot pink monstrosity of a vehicle she had. So she stopped at Vin's Auto to inquire about a new paint job to stay hidden. Five thousand dollars for a paint job! Eliza told Vin, the owner, she didn't have that kind of money but she could work it out anyway he wanted so she could get out of town quick. Vin agreed they would make a trade or two but she had no idea who Vin was or what was in store for her. He offered her protection but at what price?
This book, ugh. The beginning story was kinda stupid. Like her only option was to paint her car and she takes it to a shop but has no money. Who does that, no on that's who. Then her only option was to offer sex for payment. Again no one does that. I hated Eliza, she was whiney, weak and cries way too much. She talks about doing things for herself and being stronger but that never happens. This book is just awful, skip it. If this is your first book by Nicole dont let it discourage from trying others because her books are usually good. Just forget this one exists.
I think this was a good read but the female character seemed weak. She off her herself to a male for a paint job. Wondering what happened to the car later in the book. She makes a deal she can't carry thru with. She also becomes a killer for Vin but could have just told him to finish it instead of saying don't. It seem to me she really had feelings for Ricky the whole but even when she talking with the therapy. Vin is just a rough mobster who used her then feel in love enough to change. I enjoyed the book and say read it for yourself.
Really good book! Story was great. I was on the edge of my seat reading Vin. Vin is a typical mafia don. Incredibly Hot and sexy. He meets Eliza at his auto body shop. She propositions him. Paint her car and she'll have sex with him. She is broke and running from her ex-boyfriend. The relationship between the two is odd. Vin doesn't know how to react to emotions. And Eliza is always crying and upset. And Vin has a huge anger problem. Plus her crazy ex is still a threat especially since she ran from him.
This is Eliza and Vin’s story; Eliza is escaping an abusive relationship and seeks protection from Vin who is a mafia boss. The chemistry is amazing between the two and makes for some very steamy scenes. There is a dark subject matter in this story and so if abusive relationships are a trigger for you please read the blurb and some reviews and see if you think you can read this story. It’s a well-written amazing story that held my attention till I had finished the book.
I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. Eliza is on the run from an abusive ex when goes to a auto body paint shop that just happens to be run by Vin, Don of the Romero’s. With no money and a desperate need to change to color of her car she offers herself as a trade. Bin is intrigued by Eliza and wants her body, but he also wants to know what she’s running from. Can he protect her from her ex and from his own anger? It’s a good story and a fairly quick read.
It’s like no effort was put into the believability of the characters, time line, or overall story. I had just read Kostya, which I loved, and wanted to stay immersed in that Alfa/mafia don world, so I thought Vin was the next logical read. It wasn’t. I did finish it, but the wrinkles in between my eyebrow are in need of some serious medical treatment. Not giving up though, gonna read Maksim right now and I’ll let y’all know how it goes. 😉
This was your typical mafia romance, mafia don is a scary, dominate, killing machine who falls in love with the damsel in distress. Even though the story was typical, i really did enjoy Vin and Eliza's story. The story moved along from beginning to end, and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. Vin was a good quick read.
Umm, WOW! Great Read! Ice box not included. A definite kindle melt down hot read. The storyline is a demanding page turner with a whole lot of thrills and chills that push you to edge taking you on an explosive ride with a fierce need to get to the end of this amazing read. I enjoyed this read and am highly to recommend it to all those who enjoy all the edgy hot feels like me.
I love this author and have been on a jour eh to read all her books. It was bad, per se, but it was definitely not her strongest. It’s alright for a quick read but I could barely stand the past tense writing. Definitely read her others first and if you’re dying for a book but don’t have much time, it’s alright.
This was a great read, with great chemistry between the main characters, Eliza and Vin. You won't be able to put this one down once you start it. Nicole Fox really creates amazing books that you totally get lost in. This one is a must read!!
She is on the run from her psycho abusive ex, He is the head of the Romero crime family who agrees to help her. In this exciting read we have two opposites fall in love while over coming danger. A definite thrill ride.
I really wanted to like the story and did up to a certain point. Once the "mob" aspect came out I felt like it was lacking, a lot. Sadly once the failed mob came out I lost interest in the story but I finished it to see if she got revenge.
Not what I was expecting as far as a mafia romance. The hero didn't seem that bad to me, maybe I've been reading too many bad boy romances lately, but this seemed pretty tame. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the characters either.
