A tale of greed and corruption, conspiracy and magic. Santa is to be relocated to a distribution centre near Birmingham, England. His elves and reindeer are to be made redundant. Christmas needs to be modernised, but he is being duped, World leaders are conspiring to steal his magic and take over Christmas for their own ends and they, in turn, are being used by the people who really control the World. There are elves, suffragettes, reindeer, sleighs, tinsel and bells, energy drink and murder!
Elf and Efficiency introduces you to a vast number of characters. We get to see some well-known ones, like Santa, Rudolph and the other reindeer, Scrooge, and the Snow Queen. With all the holiday romcoms I read in December, this was a nice change of pace.
Each chapter, twist, and turn definitely kept the pages turning. I didn't know what to expect when it came to everyone involved either. Especially when it came to the drama surrounding the North Pole and Santa. So, in a way, that kept me on my toes too. I'll admit that it had its entertaining moments as well. A lot more than I thought would appear.
Other than that, it was surprisingly an entertaining book. One that was never on my radar until a challenge. I'm very happy that I took a chance on this book and secretly wonder if there's a sequel. Mostly because that ending kind of seems like Steve would write another one.
