Librarian's Note: This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN B07PKDMQJ7

Andrew Buchanan had been keeping a secret, one he kept from his family until he was on his deathbed. Now the responsibility of telling his other family that he’d gone was left to Nick. So Nick traveled to America, unsure of what to expect but hopeful for the future. Enter his half-brother Chase, who was so angry and filled with hatred he wanted nothing to do with Nick and left him in no doubt of his feelings on the matter.
The only ray of sunshine was Chase’s closet friend, Brad. Nick was instantly drawn to him, but given how things were with Chase he was firmly on the ‘don’t touch’ list. Brad was hooked the moment he saw Nick but had to put those feelings aside to try and help him win over his new family.
Spending time with Nick, only made Brad want him more, a feeling he was sure Nick returned. However, he couldn’t give in to the temptation because he knew it would ruin his friendship with Chase.
Their attraction, however, couldn’t be denied and one day the inevitable happened, Nick and Brad crossed a line they both swore they wouldn’t. Could their relationship survive, or would distance and loyalties pull them apart?

What can I say about me? I have two boys who keep me on my toes and a cat who adopted us. She walked in one day and hasn’t left. We might be getting a dog too. Who knows?

I love to read about men in love. Flawed, but strong men, who need some TLC and find their happy ending. I love to write about those same type of men too, sometimes with added kink! I also love to read horrors, thrillers and crime novels.

When I’m not trying to keep my boys in line, or writing about hot sexy men, I like to work on my allotment. I also like to read, to take walks in the countryside, and visit historical places. Recently, we went to Stonehenge and Avebury. It was an amazing experience.

Vintage Megs Pritchard for you. It seems that the more this author puts out books, the least she is able to learn from her previous failures at producing anything better than money-makers of the penny dreadful variety. The staggering amount of mediocrity conspicuous in every technical quarter robs this latest offering of all it could have offered in the way of MM romantic entertainment. Same low-brow plot that meanders and plods and sputters until the required page number has been reached; the love match between the leads comes with no chemistry whatever, given the pitifully botched stamp of the character drawing (the cast is virtually the same feeble gallery of dullards and one-dimensional caricatures in attendence in every one of Mrs Pritchard's productions); the dialogues are utterly juvenile, most particularly the exchanges between Chase and Brad (two big kids bantering) or the constant snipping between Chase and his mother; the internal discourse and POVs of the protagonists exhibit a dreadful lack of crispness coupled with a proportional fondness for verbosity ("smiling, Brad thought about Nick again and sighed. He liked him and wanted to take things further, but Nick was only here for another week. He lived in another country, so what was the point? How could they make it work with thousands of miles between them? That’s if Nick was interested. Nick had far too much going on in his life to be interested in anything Brad had to offer. He was about to become an uncle, and he now had a new family to get to know. Well, that depended on Chase, and knowing Chase the way he did, Brad knew that would be an uphill struggle" gives a more than adequate idea of the level of idle verbiage that the reader has to swallow for 200+ pages); and the writing is lax, repetitive, painfully sub-literary throughout the book ("Chase had been abandoned, left to grow up without a dad, and Nick hadn’t. He’d had all those experiences that Chase hadn’t, and that made Chase bitter and angry" being one of the least painful passages that stuck in my mind). Last but not least, Mrs Pritchard seems blind to the fact that such hypocorisms typical of dialogues as 'mom' or 'dad' have no place in indirect style and in narrative passages, where they should always be replaced by the more formal and descriptive 'mother', 'father' - by dint of ignoring this stylistic divide, she lowers her literary expression down to sophomoric levels.

New to me author. This is a mm contemporary story set in the USA. Main characters are Brad and Englishman Nick. Great side story about Nick meeting a family he didn’t know existed. I’ll read more from this author and series.

Needs an editor

It starts out alright...interesting. All the thinking to try and fill things out gets old pretty quickly. They’re not thinking about stuff related to the story very often. I can figure out that the mechanic likes cars. If it’s specific to why he became a mechanic or an interesting story, fine throw it in but otherwise it looks like you’re just throwing out a specific model to go here see I know what a classic car is. I also hate it when the main characters are so into each other instantly. I understand attraction, but when the main conflict is this big a deal it’s disgusting. And the angry guy is totally unrealistic.

Also an editor should be able to catch major mistakes in the plot. As soon as I got to the first big one when he called his mom I was done. They all thought one thing so the guy was shocked to find out it’s different. But when he talks to his mom she casually asks him about it like they hadn’t thought the one thing. That’s too big a hole for me to take this book seriously.

Maybe I’ll finish it and update this, but that big of a mistake this early on makes me doubt it.

Broken Promises, the first book in Megs Pritchard's Sater's Creek series, is a gripping book.

Nick arrives in the US to meet his long lost siblings. His half brother Chase doesn't handle it well and a whole lot of animosity and anger ensues. And when Nick falls for Chase's best friend, Brad, more conflict arises. Not only does Brad butt heads with Chase, but Brad's in love with the man who's returning to England.

Not only a romance, this is also a story about family and forgiveness. This involves a cheating father who never told his new wife about his other family. It involves siblings who never knew the others existed. Honestly, this part of the story, although the catalyst for the romance, is a bit maddening and confuses. There are some questions left unanswered that just angered me. But, other than that, I liked it.

I definitely enjoyed Broken Promises, especially once Chase starts to come around. The last half of the book is wonderful, and I love the ending.

Broken Promises.
This was an interesting book with a great storyline. Nick’s father drops a bomb shell on his death bed and Nick promises fly to America to meet his new family even while dealing with his own grief.
I loved the instant attraction between Brad and Nick, loved the open arms of Sally and hated Chase and his inability to see that Nick wasn't to blame!
I felt that there were parts of the story that kept rehashing the same thing, there were parts that contradicted previous parts, there were a few unanswered questions for me and the over use of certain words began to irate me so I found myself skipping a little.
Even with all of this though I did enjoy the story and raced to the end to see if Nick ever found out why and to see what would happen between him and Brad.
I’m now off to read the 2nd book!
I was offered an arc of this book and happily leave my honest opinion.

Broken Promises by Megs Pritchard is the first book in the Sater's Creek series. Wow... this one pulled at my emotions a bit.... its definitely a great read. It is a well written story, told in a way that brings you in and keeps you hooked. The characters are likeable... even when acting like a jerk, you understand why they are acting that way. The book has alot of emphasis on family and friends, how betrayal effects everyone. I loved the interactions between Nick and Brad, and all the supporting characters too. There was humor, sweet moments, angst, and I loved it all. I am excited to read more in the series and more from this author.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

I loved this first book in a new series

How do you get over knowing your father left his wife and children behind, with no warning or explanation? How do you deal learning that other family never even knew you existed? Nick's father's deathbed confession led to him showing up on that other family's doorstep, an ocean away, with no idea what the reception might be. He's mourning the father he loved while simultaneously trying to reconcile within his own mind and heart how the man he loved and admired could abandon his first family - meaning Nick has older siblings he never knew. His half brother, Chase, does not take this new knowledge well, but Chase's friend Brad will do everything he can to help both brothers deal with the new knowledge that's been dumped on them. And if Brad and Nick can't help but be attracted to one another..? That's just something they can ignore. Right? I loved this first book in a new series and can't wait to see what comes next for the residents of Sater's Creek.

A thin story. The writing is equally poor, with endless repetitions of what we have already been told, endless repeated explanations of what a character is feeling, and no character development or plot development beyond the main characters falling into bed. The book is full of swearing; in some places it is appropriate, as when someone is furiously angry, but in many places it is unwarranted and simply a sign of how bad the author is. Even the allegedly sweet mother, who tells her son not to swear, uses filthy language herself, which feels completely out of character. But I gave 2 stars rather than 1, because not only did I finish the book, but I wanted to finish it. It could have been so much better.

I would have given this book 5 stars had there been less “why” and more of Nick and Brad’s relationship. The storyline was excellent. The smexy times well written. I just wanted more. I have no idea whether it’s just me but a lot of the romance books I have read lately, and I am a voracious reader, don’t quite hit the spot. The books have the chase to get their man/woman and then it’s a mad rush to the finish line. My own personal choice would be to bask in their joy for a while. This is where I would truly engage and live vicariously through them, just for a while. We all need an escape to get “lost”.

Seriously This NEEDS TO BE EDITED BADLY..  DNF 🚫 not recommended
Wrong names used along with other mistakes. I'm sure Sally knows her own son's name instead of her son's friend.. The beginning first few pages really need work too.. I knew this was a bad one with edit problems right off. I'm passing on this author's work from now on. Sorry not wasting my money.

Chase opens the door to a stranger but in fact they where his step-brother. Nick 26 yrs was nervous about what he had to do informing Chase his father was died.

Well this author is new to me and I always love finding new authors to read. I rather enjoyed this story, it grabbed me from the beginning as you just want to know why? Why would a father do that, why would a brother do that to another brother. I loved Nick and Brad and all the side characters ( except Chase, I just wanted to smack him but he did redeem himself ) are well developed into the storyline so you just cant wait for their stories. Now I’m off to find other stories by this author.

Nick has an almost impossible task of telling the family that his father left that he was gone and had another family after he had left them. To say he was not necessarily met with open arms would be an understatement. The one person that made everything better was Brad, his brother's best friend. As these two figure out their feelings and relationship, Nick must also work on having a relationship with the siblings he never knew. This is an emotional and interesting story and hope to see more.

I loved Nick and Brad’s story. It was sweet and adorable. I can’t imagine finding out I had a whole other family across the pond. What bravery it would take to go and meet them. Nick and Brad were hot and sexy. It was definitely a whirlwind romance, and it was great. I totally loved it and what a great start to the Sater’s Creek series. I totally recommend this book!

Great read!

What a great story line. I loved it from the first chapter. Nick was so brave. And Brad was awesome. The chemistry and connection was there from the start, but they both tried to resist because of the circumstances they found themselves in. I am so looking forward to book two.

Broken Promises holds a ton of heartache but it is also filled with love. It is a family story about finding forgiveness a nd brotherhood after a season of lies.

What a good book!

I absolutely loved it. I would have bonked Chase over the head myself in the earlier part of the book but he came around and loved his family. He’s a troublemaker! Anyway thank you for writing this wonderful book. Can’t wait for the next.

Great start to the series!

This was a great start to the Sater's Creek series. I absolutely loved Nick and Brad and I didn't want their story to end. The secondary characters were awesome too. Loved it! Can't wait to return to Sater's Creek in the next book.

This story was okay. It starts out interesting and filled with promise but I felt that it hit the mark on some points. Some scenes were rushed and the tone of the book was lost but overall I liked Nick and his journey.

Discovering you had a whole other family you never knew about would be shocking for anyone. To actually go and see them takes guts. This was an interesting start to a series and I will pick up the next one!

Smexy and sweet, I enjoyed getting to know Nick and Chase and Brad. Chase’s response is definitely realistic so I appreciated that. And Nick and Brad are an adorable couple. Oh, what a blast Brad’s mom is! 😊

Enjoyable story except the parts with chase. I’ve never disliked a character as much as I’ve dislike Chase in this book. The story would have worked so much better without his over the top rantings.

I really tried but it was too boring. People were constantly talking about the past.
There was also zero chemistry between the two MC’s.

So, I 'plodded' through eight long chapters, at least half of which were just repetitions of Chase ranting and raving. ENOUGH! I get that he's angry and all, but going over it again and again ... I'm totally fed up.

I doubt very much that I'll give this author a second chance. I don't like being bored and frustrated with objectionable characters like this.
