Jack Masterson is a rock star with his share of groupies throwing themselves his way but he had never been interested in any of that. The one woman that did interest Jack had married him but left him two years before and he's been living a lonely life since their big fallout. Now Jack finds himself being invited to be the best man at his friend, Prince Jonas', wedding and wondering if he'll run into his ex while there.

After two years Celina Harris is finally putting her life back together since her divorce. She'd taken on the job of appointment secretary to San Michele’s Serene Dowager Margaret and had tried a bit of dating with no luck. When Celina finds out that her ex-husband will be attending the royal wedding she's a bit taken aback but knows she must do whatever she can to resist Jack's charm and avoid heading back into the world of a rock star.

The Best Man's Bride by Anne McAllister is the fourth book in the contemporary romance Royal Wedding Invitations series. The series consists of four books by various authors that follow a story that started in the first book with Hope and Prince Jonas meeting and deciding to marry. With each additional book though the main characters switch to another couple involved in the upcoming wedding and tell their story. With most romance series the changing of the characters means they are great as standalones but this one I'd suggest following from the beginning for the full story.

A bit of a different type of romance read with this installment of the series as it brings in a couple that definitely have a background in being that they were actually once married. Celina and Jack had a misunderstanding two years before with it leading to divorce and obviously from the first moments there is a connection there that never ended. Along with the relationship the book has some action and of course a lot of catching up with the wedding that had come about in the previous books.

In the end I found when finished this was a great addition and overall I enjoyed the whole series and how it continued the main story onwards in each book while having a completely different set up for each couple. I would definitely recommend checking out these quick romance reads that while different from one another it makes a great story when read together.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

An invitation to a royal wedding for both Jack and Celina, who have not seen each other for two years after a misunderstanding that results in a divorce. Jack is a rock star, that can have any woman but he all he wants is his Celie back. Celie lives a solitary life working as a secretary for Michele's Serene Dowager Margaret, but her heart still belongs to Jack. Now can Celie resist Jack's charm to avoid hurt again.

A great second chance love story. Great characters that have been hurting and need to find their love again with communication. I highly recommend this book.

This is the last book in the series and is a second change at romance story at which the couple split over a misunderstanding and not talking.

Celina has been in all of the previous books, however we only got to see a glimpse of Jack in the previous book as he talks to Ally Parker.

Both characters don't take long to reacquaint themselves, especially as Jack makes a point of singling Celina out and taking about the misunderstanding, he is also determined to get Celina back.

Its a light, sweet easy read without too much angst and quite a lot of romance and reconciliation with a good HEA.

This was a very enjoyable read! It's a great second chance story that is very well done. There are amazing characters that work beautifully together.

It's been two long years since Jack and Celie divorced but neither has really moved on. Mainly because they still love each other. When they are both invited to a royal wedding it's hard to deny that the sparks still fly between them but getting over the misunderstandings of the past will take some work. Are they up to it?

Definitely a book I recommend.

Jack and Celina were once married but misunderstandings and the hectic life of a rock star pulled them apart. It’s been two years since the divorce was final and now they’ll be seeing each other for the first time in a very long time. Their love for each other has never really died, something Jack has long known and Celie is beginning to realize. Is it possible to get beyond everything that separated them once before to even dream of a second chance at happiness? That’s something Jack is determined to find out for he is still very much in love with his Celie and he suspects that she still loves him as well. Perhaps each being a bit older and hopefully wiser, they can mend the problems, clear up the misunderstandings and get that second chance at happiness together.

The Best Man’s Bride is an, at times, bittersweet look at what makes love go wrong – and the lengths one man in love will go to fix it. Jack and Celina were a believable couple facing some very real problems. No, I don’t know any rock stars but I do know people who are overwhelmed, I get that misunderstandings are going to happen and will cause damage if they aren’t cleared up. I do know that if two people won’t talk to each other they’ll never resolve anything. And these are things that Jack and Celie had to discover for themselves over different spans of time. Watching their second chance at happiness open up in front of them was an emotional, tender reading experience.

I’ve enjoyed the Royal Wedding Invitations series very much. All the stories are amazing with likable, realistic people facing unusual circumstances. If you haven’t picked any of these stories up yet I’d strongly recommend this series to any Romance reader.

Three and a half stars.

Jack Masterson and Celina Harris fell in love fast and got married even faster. But the wheels came off their romance when Celina couldn't handle the rock 'n roll lifestyle. Two years later they are divorced but have been thrown together at the wedding of Jack's best friend the Prince of the tiny principality of San Michele, where Celina happens to be the personal assistant to San Michele’s Serene Dowager Margaret.

Jack's over his self-righteous anger and wants to explain to the only woman he's ever loved what really happened, if only she'd sit still long enough to listen. Maybe the forced proximity of a wedding party is just the opportunity he needs?

I liked this but I didn't love it. I felt that the truth behind the incident that caused the breakup was pretty weak - even if I knew the truth and my husband wasn't a famous rock star I'd be pretty ticked off. There are far better ways of achieving the same objective. Similarly, Jack's abrupt decision that he wasn't good enough for Celina felt equally manufactured.

Having said that, this was a sweet, fun romance. I mean European royalty mixing with rock stars? What's not to love right?

The Best Man's Bride, Anne McAllister

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: General Fiction (adult), Romance

I love deep, dark, intensive novels but sometimes I just want an easy, quick, escapist read, one where I can just enjoy the story without having to use my brain to work out complex plots. This book delivered all that, and was a fun read.

I loved Celina, and so felt for her when we found out what had made her leave Jack - well, her reaction would be what most would do I think. She still loves Jack, even though they are divorced, even though she's not seen him for so long.
Then her best friend, relative to her employer, tells her Jack is to be his best man, and of course she'll be at the wedding as PA to her employer and as Friend to Jonas....no escape, and worse, its once of those weddings where celebrations go on for days.

Jack, he's fiercely proud, and was so hurt that Celina didn't give him a chance to explain, wouldn't talk to him, didn't trust him, and he's angry at that when it all goes down but...he still loves her too and this chance to spend time with her, to get a chance to explain is one he's seized on.
He's such a well known star though its hard to escape the ladies and get Celina on her own, and she's certainly doing her best to avoid him.
I wanted them to make things work, they seemed such a true couple, so good for each other, so in love and yet if they wouldn't ever get to talk what hope was there?

Its a fun story, and even when Jack does get her to hear his story, there are still barriers that crop up - that's so true in real life, nothing does ever go truly smoothly.
I would have liked a bit more of the Rock Star/band scene, it seemed he was a star for the novel but the action didn't really reflect that, apart from the ever present paparazzi. He could have been anyone famous, not necessarily a rock star, and I was hoping for more of the background that goes with that scene.

Stars: 4, a fun story, easy to read and relax with.

The Best Man’s Bride is a wonderful romance between two people who come from different worlds. The story line is wonderful and the characters are crafted to enhance the world Ms. McAllister built. The struggle between past and present is threaded throughout the story and the reader is left wondering just how it will end. The romance is spicy enough for any romantic at heart.

This is the final entry in the Royal Wedding Invitations series (written by four different authors). It's probably my least favorite in the series, but still mostly enjoyable. It was fun seeing most of the characters from the other books in the series.

In this one, Celina, who serves as the Dowager Princess Maggie's personal assistant, is the heroine, while her ex-husband Jack is the hero. Jack happens to be the groom's best man for the wedding. jack's also a rock star, so we get both a rock star romance, a royal romance, and a second-chance romance.

I was grateful to receive the Best Man's Bride in exchange for an honest review. Overall, I enjoyed the story. I originally thought this story was going in a completely different direction with Celina falling for the groom. Now that would have been a great plot with her ex husband, Jack trying to win her back. However, that was not the direction, author Anne McAllister went. Instead, Jack, the former husband gets another shot at winning Celina back into his life. The rock star theme was a little over the top, but overall, this was an entertaining read. I'd recommend to friends and family.

Jack and Celina’s love story gives you a peek at a very different life style.
Jack is the rock star and you get to see how music is who he is, it’s what he lives and breathes.
Celina is the girl who loves him, but she never feels she is enough for him, the star, and you get to feel her highs and lows and all out pain.

...

I honestly don't know what to say. It had so many elements that I adored in my romance books: a gorgeous hero; a sweet heroine; second-chances ahoy (with one gunning for it more than the other, which made it super awesome!)...

And yet, it was lacking. There was an intensity, particularly in the way that Celina fought her attraction and love for Jack, as well as how much Jack loved and wanted Celina back in his life, but where was the heart-rending love beyond the physical?

I dunno. I just can't seem to find the words to explain what it is about the book that just didn't do it for me; and previously, Anne McAllister had been able to portray the deepening attraction and love between her MCs. This time, it seemed to be missing. Or maybe there was just so many things getting in the way of the two of them .

This review is awful, and I know that I'm veering between liking some bits of it and disliking SOMETHING about it, but it's a pretty accurate reflection on my feelings about the book. I liked it, but not well-enough to say that I loved and adored it.

Edit (warning: spoilers): Now that I've slept on it, I think I know what was annoying me about the characters. Primarily, not just because Jack was the type to do things and save people, it's that Celine saw him as HER hero (or even her BEST hero). Great; but where the hell were his faults? He was so perfectly handsome; he was such a caring father-figure; he was a guy who looked after different people in his life, family or not; he was the guy who saved Celine the first night that they met - and that for me, made Jack come off looking a bit too one dimensional. Hmm... maybe Jack just isn't my kinda guy. He just didn't appeal to me, and that sadly coloured my opinion of the book.

It’s taken two years for Celina to put her life–and heart–back together. Now the personal assistant to San Michele’s Serene Dowager Margaret, Celine has things under control. She spends her days assuaging royal egos and her nights in peaceful solitude. The last thing she needs is a reunion with Jack.
When they are thrown together, Celina is determined to resist Jack’s charm. But Jack doesn’t give up easily and seeing Celina awakens all his former desire. Can Celina resist the former love of her life, or will he break her heart all over again?
this is Celina Harris and Jack Masterson's story.
She’d moved halfway round the world, taken a new job, made a new life – one that in no way included Jack. Every time her thoughts drifted his way, she redirected them. Every time she thought about the past, she carefully elided the Jack bits. He had no part in her present.
Jack had given her the dog.

Can Celina resist the former love of her life, or will he break her heart all over again? read this book to find out.
The Best Man’s Bride by Anne McAllister is a wonderful well written 4 star book.

Celina and Jack had been married but she hadn’t been enough for him. When she had walked into his Barcelona hotel room to find a woman she had waited around for excuses or lies ahe had left and filed for divorce Jack had done nothing to stop her nor had she heard anything from him. But Jonas- who was a prince- was marrying Hope and Jack was to be best man. Jonas offered to tell Jack he couldn’t be best man when Jonas came and told Celina. Jonas had found Celina and brought her back with him and helped her pick up the pieces of her life then helped her get a job with Maggie. Jack was to be best man but Celine said no. Jace was the singer, songwriter. And lead guitarist for the band South Face- one of the world's most popular rock-rhythm- blues bands. Celina found it hard to be dispassionate and indifferent to Jack. jack had always seemed larger and more vital than life and that hadn’t changed. Celina hadn’t seen Jack in two and a half years and she had been trying to convince herself the last six months that she didn’t know what she had seen in Jack. Celina knew she would see Jack eventually but just a glimpse of him let her know she hadn’t moved on as far as she had hoped as far as jack was concerned. Jack didn’t care about groupies he missed the woman he had married who had married him and left him. Jack had been deeply hurt when Celine wouldn’t talk to him or give him a chance to explain before she had left him and their marriage and that she hadn’t trusted him. Celina was doing her best to avoid Jack and Jack was doing his best to get away from the groupies/fans so he could talk to Celina alone. Maggie had known about Jack and Celina
I really enjoyed this book, it was a quick and easy read of a second chance romance. I liked the plot and pace. This book kept my interest with no problem. I do think Celina should have waited until she cooled off and talked to Jack before she had left. After all she had married Jack and marriage is a lot of work. Also if Celina loved Jack she should trust him enough to see what he had to say. If Jack really loved Celina should have gave Celina a little time and then found her and talked to her instead of giving her all that time to hurt and feel betrayed and he definitely should have got a hold of her before the divorce went through. I did like that we got to see both POVs. but also that Jack had gotten hurt and angry and didn’t just not care that he lost Celina. I loved Celina and Jack together. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

Wasn’t sure what to expect with this being about a prince getting married and all. The woman works for his grandmother. Never been a fairytale kind of a girl but the rock star aspect caught me.
This was cute. There was enough angst from Jonas’ grandmother the elder princess of San Michele the Serene Dowager Margaret or Maggie to family and friends. The story revolves around three best friends, roommates from grad school in Iowa. Jack Masterson, Jonas the prince, and their friend Celina Harris. With a bit of a catch.
Both men were smitten but it was Jack who was bold enough to approach. A good thing too. Because at the Frat party they attended he had to frog walk a frat guy out and toss him into the hedges for not listening to the word “NO!” When it was uttered by “Celie” as he likes to call her. He took her to his place to calm her down by playing his acoustic guitar for her. He played for hours. You see Jack was part of the local hot rock/jazz/blues band.
She felt safe and totally comfortable with him too. When she felt better he walked her home asked her out to the concert he was playing the next night. They became a couple. They get married she finishes grad school, Jack on the other hand signs a record deal and starts touring the world dropping out of grad school. They blow up. It’s time for her graduation he is supposed to be on his way home when he calls and says the manager booked a charity gig on graduation night. She’s disappointed but understands. He wants her to come out to Barcelona to be with him but she had invited her parents to come be at her graduation.
But she changes her mind and shows up. But there’s a problem when she gets there and she turns around goes home and files for divorce. He never goes after her or tries to contact her. Making her feel she wasn’t worth his time or effort.
So, two and a half years later when she is now working for Maggie and Joe is getting married, his fiancé and he run into Jack at his concert. Jack assumes that Joe wants him to be his best man like he was for theirs. Now there is a runaway train called Jack headed her way moving on the tracks toward Celina.
This book is funny and a fast read. The author made the characters enjoyable to read about even the ones that were ones you were not meant to like. I loved Maggie, Joe’s grandmother, she really made the story pop. I give this: 5 stars. Provided by netgalley.com.

Rock star Jack Masterson hasn’t seen or heard from his ex-wife, Celina, in over two years and is surprised to find out she is attending his best friend’s wedding. But, Jack shouldn’t have been too surprised as Celina was also friends with Prince Jonas when they were in college. The biggest surprise is that Jonas kept it a secret that Celina was working as an assistant to San Michele’s Serene Dowager Margaret. Now if Jack can only convince Celina that he still loves her and wants her back, he will be a happy man.

Celina left Jack after walking in his hotel room and finding a girl in his bed. She didn’t stick around to listen to Jack’s excuses. She left, never looking back and filed for divorce as soon as she could. Celina is finally content with her life and doesn’t need a man in it. She gets the shock of her life when she sees Jack has arrived for the wedding.

Celina tries her best avoid Jack and not think about him. When Jack insists they spend time together it is hard for Celina to not remember the reasons they fell in love. And, the reason she left him. But Jack never got to tell his side of the story and hearing the truth just might change everything for Celina.

Jack and Celina never got to talk about what happened that night in that Barcelona hotel room. Celina just filed for divorce and Jack agreed to it. So I enjoyed when Celina finally found out the truth and was able to put it behind them. Their reunion was a bit tense at first, but I really liked seeing how they came to terms about the past and moved on to the future. The story was easy to follow and some areas surprised me. It was the perfect ending for this series.

Can rock star Jack Masterson finally get the only woman he loves and wants back after being apart for two years? Well that may take a bit to do but they are at a wedding a Royal wedding and Jack is best man can he convince his gorgeous ex Celina Harris that they were meant to be together?

Celina walked out on her marriage two years ago shocked and lonely but she has got her life on track and is working for San Michel’s Serene Dowager as her secretary content with her life, but when her friend Prince Jonas is getting married and tells her that Jack her ex is going to be his best man Celina’s heart does a little patter but she is determined to not let him get to her.

Jack is stunned when he arrives in England for the wedding and spies his Celie there, he has never gotten over her in the two years they have been apart but his band and the tours kept him going but now maybe it is time to get her back and settle down but convincing her is not going to be a walk in the park.

This is a beautiful story of second chance love there were so many misunderstandings and time apart that played a big part in their breakup, both are now older and that spark that had been there before is still there with a passion. I loved Jack he is a fabulous hero and just what Celie wanted back in her life, even if it took her a bit to realize. I loved the romantic journey that bought them back together the setting the sensual pull had me sighing, I can highly recommend this story. This series has been fabulous but I would love to see Nico get his HEA. Thank you for a fabulous story MS McAllister.

I received this book from net galley for an honest review. Thank you!!

This novel was a good read. It involves two characters who still love each other even though they are no longer together. Misunderstandings affected their relationship, but now they have a chance to reconcile.
Celina Harris works as the appointment secretary to San Michele’s Serene Dowager Margaret for over two years, since she divorced Rock star Jack Masterson. She believes she is over him but when her best friend Jonas is getting married and Jack is his best man, her feelings return when she sees Jack in the flesh.
Jack lost the one woman he loved due to a misunderstanding. He has a chance to win her back and will pull out all the stops. He knows Celie is the only woman for him. However, he has to make choices that will impact their fragile relationship. When Jack tells Celie want happened the night that "destroyed" their relationship, she realizes she did not trust Jack due to his "rock star" status. Now she has a chance to show Jack how much she loves him. Both will have to make sacrifices if they want their relationship to prosper. However, it has been over two years and is each willing to sacrifice their career for the other or compromise?

This was my third of the Royal Wedding Invitations which I've read. And although this cover is pretty sugary sweet, it is actually the least sweet of the series so far. Jack is a rock star and Celina is a very down-to-earth girl. They have been married, but they were divorced several years ago. Therefore, there is some friction between them.

Thrown together because of the wedding of Jonas and Hope (of The Prince's Bride), Celina does her best to stay out of Jack's way. Because deep down, there is still the attraction between them. However, Jack has broken Celina's heart before and she is not about to have it broken all over again.

Jack is determined to show his Celie that they belong together and that he will never hurt her again. Of course, some misunderstandings and wrong interpreted situations later, they still have a long way to go.

So, in all, a cute story. Less Disney princess and more rock star diva's, but a fun read altogether. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

This is the fourth instalment of the Royal Wedding Invitations series. There are four books that follow a story that started in the first book with Hope and Prince Jonas meeting and deciding to marry. Each book is written by a different author and focuses on a different couple from the main pairing of Jonas and Hope, to the two bridesmaids and finally the best man.

Written by Anne McAllister this book focuses on Celina Harris, aid to the Dowager Princess, and Jack Masterson, rock star and best man of the groom. He’s also Celina’s ex-husband. Celina and Jack had a misunderstanding two years before leading to Celina filing for divorce. They have not been in contact since that fateful night. Neither has stopped loving the other but can they put their anger aside and focus on a new beginning.

I found this to be a great second chance love story. It was light-hearted read with the right amount of angst. The characters are likeable and the story moves at a nice pace. I would recommend reading the series as a whole. While the books can be read as standalone, there are snippets of each romance in all the books.

The Best Man's Bride by Anne McAllister is the fourth book in the Royal Wedding Invitation. The first book was the story of the bride and groom with the last three books being about family and friends attending the wedding. This one is a second chance at love after the couple divorced two years ago.

Reconciliation is the theme of this book which has two likable, very human characters. Jack Masterson is a rock star and his former wife, Celina is now appointment secretary to San Michele’s Serene Dowager Margaret. Her job is perfect for her since she is well aware of egos and of people who are focused on their careers or responsibilities.

Anne McAllister does a fine job of showing all the trappings that come with celebrity status without portraying Jack as a bad guy. Still he is a better man now, wanting to win his former wife back. I can’t see this happening in real life, but it is a wonderful thought much like a fairy tale. Enjoyable read that you wish would happen more often in reality.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

"Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review"
I enjoyed this second-chance romance involving a couple that divorced because of a huge misunderstanding and lack of communication. The trope isn’t original, but Anne McAllister handles it well and convincingly as old feelings resurface when Jack and Celina meet again two years after the separation.
I liked both main characters, they’re complex and multi-layred; the take on Jack’s celebrity status was expertly done. As we have both points of view we get to know how Jack suffered with the divorce and I liked that insight too. A lot of the plotline progression has to do with the characters’ emotions and feelings and McAllister knows how to write those dimensions in a believable and heartfelt way.
Now, I’m looking forward to read Fredrik and Ally’s story.
I'm grateful to the publisher, Tule Publishing, and NetGalley for providing a free copy.

I have enjoyed every Anne McAllister book that I’ve read but up till now they’ve all been westerns. The Best Man’s Bride is set in the fictitious European principality of San Michele and is the fourth book in the multi-author Royal Wedding series.
This is a nice twist on the second chance at love trope and brings together Prince Jonas’ best man, rock star Jack Masterson and his former wife Celina. It can easily be read as a stand-alone novel or as part of the series.
I loved the way this story developed, with Jack relentlessly pursuing Celina, while she did her best to avoid him. Both Jack and Celina are beautifully developed and so easy to imagine. I felt for both of them as they overcame the various challenges to finding their happy ever after and when they finally got there I sighed with satisfied relief.

I loved it! I loved the story and the characters. It is a well written from their perspectives and touching.
Celie (Celina) and Jack met and fell in love in college. He embarked on a highly successful career in a band, loving her more and more each day until a huge error in communication and trust destroyed their marriage. Celie loved Jack with all her heart but fears from her father's mistakes drove her to distrust Jack and leave him.
He's never stopped loving Celie and fully intends to use every moment possible at their friend's wedding to win her back. She only needs to hear and believe his side of what happened.

The Baronet’s Wedding Engagement is the fourth book in the Royal Wedding Invitations series. Each story is by a different author and bits of them overflow, although they can each be read as a standalone. Jack gets asked to be the best man at his friend's wedding. When Celina and Jack get thrown together again, neither can deny their past. Even though it didn't work out, their chemistry is still there. Can they find more this time around? Another good book in this series.

I voluntarily read a advanced reader's copy of this book

Book four in The Royal wedding Invitations series. I think this book was my favorite of the series. I enjoyed the characters Jack (the rock star) and Celina his ex. Enjoyed the possible second chance storyline it was perfect. Even though it is part of a series you could also read it as a standalone.

Jack is a rock star with many groupies and through a series of misunderstandings, Celina leaves him thinking that he was unfaithful to her. When they are thrown together for the wedding of a friend, they finally get a chance to clear the air. I really enjoyed this romantic book and would recommend it.

This isn't my favorite type of book -- two people who apparently never talked until being divorced. I don't get it. And they don't talk much in the book until the second half. The first half is mostly navel gazing.

An end to it all

This was a lovely ending to the 4 books. The sad part was it was not long enough. I wanted to know more about Max and Flora.
