Marshall Dyson wants one thing and one thing to raze his grandfather’s island to the ground. Everything is ready to go—except for the freakin’ bunnies! Hundreds of the furry critters hopping about and multiplying before his eyes. And then there’s the American Bunny League, along with one distractingly beautiful veterinarian, taking him to court to save them...
Dr. Augusta “Gus” North can’t believe the grumpy—and annoyingly hot—builder she’s facing in court cares more about demo-ing some cabin than the lives of 200 bunnies. But when the judge orders Marshall to stay on the island and help her rehome the rabbits—the entire month—she knows they’re going to need to lay some ground rules.
Like, for example, absolutely no kissing. Might as well go ahead and get that in writing. Sure it’s on a napkin, but that still counts.
How hard could it be to keep their hands off each other amidst all the fighting? Surprisingly, harder than wrangling 200 bunnies...

Fun and flirtatious, The Kissing Contract is a light an easy read with an outrageous plot that Amy Andrews executed with flare.
Marshall’s grandfather was a mean SOB who left his family hanging because his mother didn’t dutiful toe the line. Leaving his grandson his worldly encumbrances in his last will and testament, they decide to liquidate the lot donating it charity, except for vacation spot island in the middle of a lake. An island that no one was allowed to visit. Marshall and his brother decide to open the island up to families, building cabins and changing its private use to public. A screw you to their grandfather. Nothing is going to stand in their way, not even the American Bunny League.
Apparently, some released domesticated bunnies on the island that do what they do best and made a bunch more. The American Bunny League wants a chance to remove the bunnies and find them safe homes to adopt them. The sexy Dr. Augusta, “Gus”, was not what Marshall expected.
The chemistry is electrifying. So much so that they create a napkin contract the says they can’t kiss for the entire time they are stuck on the island together.
Like I said, fun and flirty, with an original plot and lots of bunny loving going on.
I received this ARC copy of The Kissing Contract from Entangled Publishing, LLC - Entangled: Amara. This is my honest and voluntary review. The Kissing Contract is set for publication July 15, 2019.
My Rating: 4 stars Written by: Amy Andrews Print Length: 277 pages Publisher: Entangled: Amara Publication Date: July 15, 2019 Sold by: Macmillan ASIN: B07PF632Q2 Genre: Contemporary Romance
Marshall Dyson and Augusta North met in a courtroom. She's a doctor for the American Bunny League, who filed an emergency injunction to delay his construction project on his late grandfather's island, until the hundreds of domestic rabbits roaming free has been successfully removed from the land. The judge have a great sense of humor and decide that to settle the arrangement, Marshall have to help rehome the furry creatures, which also means staying on the island that imply both happy but mostly sad memories for him and share a cabin with Gus, for a few weeks. Gus is used to men only looking for her beauty. But the man that she thought was too cocky or didn't care about the bunnies' fate when she met him is in reality a real good guy with charisma as potent as his sex-appeal. So after a kiss that could change the course of what is supposed to be a professional relationship, they make a deal (on a napkin!). No kissing for the duration of the contract. But what about after all the rabbits are caught?
What a fun and adorable romance it was! Marshall was the perfect guy for Gus. Even before knowing about her history with men, he knew how to appease her insecurities and found her competence sexy. My only complaint is that too much inner lusty thoughts for both the characters made for lots of repetitive sentences and I found the hero's brother annoying.
I was a bit trepidatious about this book after reading the synopsis - um, bunnies? But, what a sweet surprise this book was for me. Even with the bunnies. Even with the outlandish setup. It still worked for me. This is a fun, flirty read that has a very original premise. The characters are great and the story is sweet.
- Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review - I really loved this story and its vibrant, round characters. The plot is full of imagination and humor. It’s very romantic, yet realistic, largely due to the fact that Amy Andrews writes romantic characters that are also realistically complex, human. There are no slow parts in “The Kissing Contract”; it’s an enjoyable, fun ride where two mature people test the limits of their capacity to risk their feelings. The whole subplot with the rabbits is hilarious and enhances the main characters traits (the hero’s skills and care with the animals is one of his most endearing and unexpected qualities). I loved the approach to sex as intimacy, desire, passion, as physical and emotional/psychological pleasure and the sensuality involved in kissing. When Marshall and Gus finally kiss it’s simply gorgeous to read. Their attraction is simmering, explosive and tightly lashed throughout the story by the author’s talent. And the humor makes it all so enjoyable. I also loved that Marshall is a builder and Gus is a scholar veterinarian. Marshall is the most practical, steady, dependable guy, “good with his hands”, and the kind of man who gets things done, yet so very dreamy. Marshall and Jeremy’s relationship is great, I hope the hero’s brother gets his story.
This was a very nice & sweet read after some duds. Our h/H are both 34 and nice people. The heroine is the cautious sort after a broken heart and isn't willing to give in to their chemistry. Plus the hero's 3 broken engagements don't make him a good bet. I liked this, plus the rabbits, bunnyguards & smoking chemistry was appealing too.

My Thoughts Loved this book. A really good easy ready filled with bunnies, what else would you want? I really liked that Marshall was a blue collar hero, I'm getting so sick of reading about lawyers and billionaires etc. I loved their chemistry, you could really feel it the moment they met.
With such an outrageous premise, I wouldn't have touched this book if it hadn't been written by Amy Andrews. I know I can trust her intelligence and that she will not fall prey to the pitfalls of the genre. In the hands of a lesser writer, this romcom could have devolved into a ridiculous and preposterous farce. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how it will go, but it's how we get there that makes all the difference, and this is where Ms.Andrews' skills shine.
THE KISSING CONTRACT is original and clever, and much of the first third is truly side-splitting. Trust Amy Andrews to write a charming, sexy, and sweet story based on wrangling bunnies! Even more surprising, where I'm concerned, is that the segments with the bunnies were wildly entertaining, and that they were essential in advancing the plot. The writing is effortless and smooth, as the author navigates calm seas and tempestuous waters with the same ease: snarky banter and emotional exchanges are equally compelling and genuine. Gus and Marshall are technically enemies, but in fact they get along well; the banter is lighthearted teasing rather than hurtful barbs. I also appreciated that their voices are as distinctive as their personalities, even if the book is written in third person POV. There were a few typos, which I hope will be caught before the final version is published, particularly this one: "Accept clearly not", which had me scratching my head for a moment; it should be "Except clearly not".
THE KISSING CONTRACT is a slow burn, maybe a little too slow. With all the buildup, I felt the "big moment" was anticlimactic and not the romantic scene I expected. Gus' concerns were legitimate, Marshall needed to deal with his issues, and I was somewhat disappointed that this was handled mostly off-page. In the end, especially with regard to an element in the epilogue, I wasn't convinced that Marshall, as adorable as he was, was a sure thing for the long haul, judging from what I saw, not what I was told.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you are a fan of enemies to lovers and a delicious slow burn, then this is the perfect book for you! Marshall Dyson wants nothing to do with the island his grandfather left him, but before he can raze the island to the ground and start building again he gets taken to court by Dr Augusta “Gus” North the veterinarian who is trying to save the bunnies that have been multiplying on the island.
Of course the chemistry between Gus and Marshall is off the charts, but Gus wants to keep it strictly professional and has them both sign a contract that clearly states there is to be no kissing while they are on the island wrangling the bunnies. Amy Andrews definitely knows how to write steamy scenes and the scenes between Marshall and Gus are hot!!
The delicious buildup to “the kiss” was driving me crazy and I think that was the whole point! Marshall was the perfect book boyfriend - sweet, hot and so caring. Gus has her own issues to work through and her reasons for keeping Marshall at arms length are valid, although I wanted to shake her a few times to tell her what a wonderful guy Marshall was! I hope that Marshall’s brother Jeremy has his own book coming soon!
A solid 3.5 star read from me. **ARC provided by Entangled Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review **
I was blown away by Amy Andrew’s The Kissing Contract. Marshall and Gus/Augusta though they first met as adversaries became an amazing couple. I loved their banter and their sexual chemistry was off the charts. Each had personal baggage they needed to deal with before they got to their HEA and watching them grow and heal was extremely satisfying. The concept of the bunnies was really clever and I would love to read a book about Marshall’s brother Jeremy. I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.
I didn’t think there was such a thing as *too much* drawn-out sexual tension, but I actually got a little sexual-tension fatigued about half-way through and didn’t pick up the book for a few days. That’s not to say I didn’t like it – I loved Augusta and Marshall. I loved the banter, I loved their inner dialogue (never heard the term ‘muff dive’ before lol), and I loved that HE loved her intelligence and efficiency. I loved the setting and the Bunnyguards and Thumper and, well, just about everything about this story! And the ‘almost sex’ scenes were super H-O-T (I might have to read them again). So hot, in fact, that when they finally did the deed, it almost paled in comparison. I loved the way Gus forced Marshall to take a good look at his past – his childhood and relationships – before they could find their HEA.
The Kissing Contract was pure fun to read! This one had cute bunnies, a forced proximity plot and two really marvelous characters in the form of Gus, Marshall, Rambo and Thumper. I loved the interaction between Gus aka Augusta North and Marshall Dyson, they just had the right balance of witty banter, sweet and sexy encounters and a fantastic progression with their romance. The Kissing Contract is just the exact thing Rom Com readers would love!

The Kissing Contract by Amy Andrews is a fun and entertaining read.
I enjoyed the storyline, it held my interest from start to end and I loved watching Marshall and Augusta/Gus relationship unfold. I enjoyed their banter and I enjoyed the feelings they brought out in each other. These two might have started out as enemies but feelings soon take a different turn and I was happy they opened their hearts to each other.
The Kissing Contract is a lovely, entertaining friends to lovers read and I highly recommend it.
*Thank you to the publisher via Netgalley for the advance copy.*
I’ve been a fan of this author for a while, starting with her Sydney Smoke rugby series, but I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by her so far. Listed as a Wrong Side of the Tracks novel, I’m assuming this is the first in a new series. It certainly reads as a standalone, but I’m hoping there will be at least one more story in the series (more on that in a bit).
An enemies to lovers story (one of my favorite tropes), this was a fun setup. I really liked both Marshall and Augusta (Gus) right from the start: as a gardener, I could totally understand Marshall and his need to remove the bunnies from his project as quickly as possible, while as a pet owner, I understood Gus and her need to make sure the bunnies weren’t hurt. There’s a lot of humor (Gus explaining the math of bunny reproduction, or about neutering the male rabbits immediately comes to mind) and heat, but there are touching moments as well. Both Marshall and Gus have issues in their pasts they need to work through, and I hurt for each of them as the details came to light. The contract of the title was Gus’s way of protecting herself, and I loved the push and pull of this slow burn story as a relationship developed in spite of the obstacles in their way.
The story really centers around Marshall and Gus, but there are a few other secondary characters around. Besides the Bunnyguard (love that name, lol), Marshall’s brother, Jeremy, was an intriguing secondary character, and I’m hoping we get his story as well.
An entertaining, engaging read that’s cute, sweet, funny, hot, and touching. Really, this story has it all. 5+ stars
The Kissing Contract by Amy Andrews is the most fun you will have reading the most preposterous plot. If you don’t believe me read the author’s note at the end of the book. Could this story happen, I don’t think so but who cares, it is just so enjoyable. Living life graciously, lovingly and fully is the best revenge is a lesson for us all.
The Kissing Contract is funny with serious undertones. The characters are extremely likable both the main characters and the supporting ones, includes the bunnies. Marshall has many sides which all comes out in the story. He is easy to love so no wonder veterinarian Dr. Augusta “Gus” North fell for him. She also is a true catch; beauty and brains. I loved these two together. I loved how Marshall had to tackle his past, instead of it being skimmed over at the end.
How Jeremy’s story is going to top this one, I can’t imagine. However, I may cry if Marshall’s brother does not get his own story. I hope Amy Andrews is writing it even now! I also would like to know about Ray.
4.5 Stars; loved the story but not the overused of one word of profanity, so took half a star off for that. Call me old fashioned but it stood out to me. An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Kissing Contract is Amy Andrews' newest stand-alone novel. The main characters of the story are Marshall and Augusta who goes by Gus. There was a lot of bad blood between Marshall and his grandfather which shaped in some ways the man he is now. The grandfather was a douche, so I was totally on Marshall's team. In his will, the grandfather left a whole island to Marshall's brother and now the two brothers have big plans for it. Well, at least they had until 200 bunnies got on their way. And that's how Gus got into Marshall's life. No, she is not a bunny, but she is the one who is going to take them away and find them new homes in order for the brothers to continue with their plans. Marshall and Gus are forced by the court to work together and that's how their story begins.
The book was easy to read and a good companion on a hot summer afternoon. While it didn't have a wow factor, I liked reading it and I found the whole bunny ordeal entertaining. I liked Marshall more than I liked Gus. There was something about her that didn't click for me. Still, I had no problem with her or any parts of the book and I would recommend it.
Marshall can’t wait to raze his grandfathers island to the ground. But thanks to the Bunnies and a court order he has to work with the ABL and Vet Gus/Augusta to save and relocate the rabbits. From the start Marshall and Gus can feel the sparks flying around them. But Gus being a little gun-shy after her last relationship makes Marshall sign a no kissing contract during the 4 weeks they are in the island. But once the 4 weeks are up all bets are off. The kissing contract is a sweet and sexy story that will have you falling in love right from the start with not just the story but also the characters. The interactions between Gus and Marshall was like a slow simmering of heat just waiting to be tipped over, and when it does it’s like fireworks. I enjoyed the bunny angle, it added some hilarious moments to the story and an innovative touch. Overall I had a lot of fun reading this book and will happily recommend.
I voluntarily received a copy of this publication from NetGalley for an honest review!
As a big fan of Amy Andrew I couldn’t wait to read this book. And as you know when you talk about contracts, then you know they are made to be broken.
I was quite frustrated in the beginning, I felt like it just took to long to get to the fun bits. Don’t get me wrong I know you have to create a story. They was just too much grid and quadrants for my liking.
Gus is too up tight. I mean honey you get to deal with cuddly bunnies all day, if that doesn’t make you a happy hippie then you really need to get “laid.” And Marshall although strongly attracted to Gus he’s the perfect gentleman. Don’t get me wrong three engagements are a lot. I was hoping to fault was the ladies but no he’s a serial proposer.
And poor Thumper, I’m not a bunny person but I would’ve taken him....sounds like a dream. He’s not ugly he’s normal....he’s not chubby he’s big boned....lol!
This is the first book by Amy Andrews that I have read and I really enjoyed it. It was well written and the characters were very realistic. I could actually picture myself there, on this Island exploring, it was that vivid. The author painted a good picture and it drew me into the story.
Marshal and Gus, short for Augusta, are great characters. The sexual chemistry between them is off the charts, which is why I was very intrigued as to how this story would go, given the contract they had just negotiated. I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what happened next, I loved the slow burn between them. The story got better and hotter the more I read.
I really hope there is a story planned for Marshal’s brother, Jeremy! I’d definitely read that!
This is shy of a 5 star read. The storyline was quirky and the characters sweet There was immediate chemistry between Marshall and Gus. It started in the courtroom and lasted throughout the book. There were sad moments in the book that bright down the humour and silliness . It help bring the human element. While I did enjoy the book I wish these two would have had more of a romantic relationship earlier than the end
As sweet as it is sexy, The Kissing Contract has the feel of a small town romance paired with a slow burn that heats up the room. The story follows Marshall, the owner of a construction company who is trying to begin construction on a small island that’s been in his family for years. Unfortunately for him, the island has become overrun by bunnies and he’s been taken to court by a sexy veterinarian, Augusta “Gus,” who wants to remove the bunnies before construction begins. When the court orders that Marshall assist Gus in removing the bunnies over the next four weeks, they are forced to spend a lot of time together. Though there is plenty of chemistry between them, Gus wants to avoid having a fling because she is used to men focusing on her bombshell appearance and she’s cautious about who she gets involved with. They come to an agreement not to kiss or have sex for the duration of their stay on the island, but it’s difficult to fight the sizzling attraction between them.
There’s a lot to like about the book - I appreciated that the characters were a little older (34), so they acknowledged that while they are attracted to each other, they don’t have to be ruled by that. Don’t get me wrong, while this is a slow burn there is a LOT of sexual tension throughout the book and near-constant references to their attraction. They’re both likeable characters, and it was nice to have a hero whose biggest issue is being a serial monogamist (he’s been engaged 3 times). It’s a totally realistic and interesting read - the only thing that holds it back from being 5 stars for me is the writing style itself. It’s hard to describe, but it felt a little formal and there was a lot of focus on the bunny stuff. That’s just a personal preference though, and not a major issue. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I appreciated the opportunity to try out a book from this author.
This review was originally posted on my review blog Deanna Reads Books This is the second book I've read by Amy Andrews, and I definitely want to read more of what she has to offer. This one is a little different than the last book, because that was a sports romance, but this one was a straight contemporary romance. I loved the plot of this one, two people that were at odds with each other trying to fight their attraction for each other.
Man both of these two are BROKEN characters and my heart really broke for them. Mostly because I just wanted them to stop being dumb and give into temptation already! It was more on Gus' part, because she had been so hurt by her ex. I also really understood her issues with trusting men. As a big chested woman, girl I understand. Sometimes men don't really even look at you as a person, and it suuucks!!! It's why I liked Marshall as the hero so much, because he did see her as more than just her physical traits.
Marshall has a lot of baggage, and my heart kind of broke for him. He had a very hard childhood, but he's pulled himself up by his bootstraps and has made a name for himself. I admire how hard-working he was, but also how he let Gus boss him around and take charge on the island.
I did find their yes but then no, in terms of the intimate scenes to be a little frustrating. They had some minor scenes, but then Gus had to turn around and deny him. That made it SO frustrating to me. Never fear though, it's a romance book so there is a happy ending.

i really enjoy amy andrews books - this is my 5th or 6th, i think? i must admit i prefer when they are set in Oz, but that's just me and my homesickness talking.
this one was really cute, i really liked marshall and i liked gus too. i had a wee bit of trouble with the contract part of it all, didn't especially see the point of or need for it? i get that it's the title of the book and therefore necessary but i guess i didn't feel the reason for it was really valid. i didn't know if it was trying to be enemies to lovers? it really wasn't, aside from their first meeting in the courtroom, they got along fine? maybe i am missing something. the chemistry was definitely there, plenty of steamy scenes, the ending was cute. it was funny, their banter was there and gus's shirts were fabulous. i liked thumper. i did find some of the bunny scenes - like talking about them - a bit of a slog to get through but it picks up in the second half. i laughed at the authors note.
overall, not my fave from amy andrews, but she's still one of my go to authors and i'll continue to read her books. i just have a soft spot for the ones set in australia.
A private island, an unwanted inheritance, a benevolent gift and a whole load of fertile bunnies!
Marshall Dyson wants to open his grandfather's private island to single parent families to obliterate the memories of his past and his grandfather's inhumanity to the ground. Unfortunately a population of wild rabbits has grown on the island and the American Bunny League opposes his plans to eliminate them. Instead, a court orders Marshall to cooperate with the American Bunny League to humanely trap all of the rabbits and put them up for adoption. Much as he loathes the court's decision Marshall can't help his attraction to the American Bunny League's spokesperson, veterinarian Dr Augusta North. Now Marshall and Augusta are spending four weeks trapped on a small island, surrounded by horny bunny volunteers and lots and lots of rabbits.
This is a zany romantic comedy between a dedicated bunny scientist and a successful construction company CEO, full of sexual tension, smokin' hot smexy times and some of the cutest bunnies you could ever imagine. Loved it.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Now this is the kind of book I love: so many funny scenes, some serious chemistry between the H and h, and an excellent plot. I loved every page. This is absolutely a keeper, and I will be rereading it when I need a great book.
It’s another winner from Amy Andrews! I love how her characters are human and have flaws. It makes it so much easier to root for a couple to recognize their feelings for each other. Then again, not every couple has a few hundred bunnies to deal with while they sort their feelings out. The premise was unique, and I loved the humor that tied into the plot catalyst of the bunnies. As always, the sexy times were ohhh, so hot! I’ll never look at a jetty the same way again. For more thoughts on this one, visit my blog at Fireflies and Free Kicks Fiction Reviews. Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, and the author for a complimentary pre-release digital ARC of this book.
With a grin on my face and a smile in my heart, I gave myself over to the force that is Amy Andrews and lost my head in the process. Marshall and Gus are at odds over an island. For Marshall it holds painful memories. For veterinarian, Dr. Augusta (Gus) North it's home for over 200 adorable bunnies. Can a court order and a mischievous, yet cuddly group of rabbits, spell the beginning of an ever after kind of love for two stubborn hearts? Hold on to your hearts cause The Kissing Contract, just may steal them away.
This book took me by surprise it was not what I was expecting at all. The set up is outlandish to say the least but it really worked. The characters were well drawn and believable but what surprised me the most was how funny this book was especially Gus' bunny shirts. I would recommend this to anyone but there are a couple of really steamy scenes that may be too much for some
Catching bunnies has to be a first topic for a romance story. Plenty of action and lots of emotion between the two main characters. And surprisingly, some interesting things to learn about bunnies.
Too much physical feelings descriptions for my liking. Entire paragraphs, sometimes two or three on the same page, just describing how the characters felt about each other. Got a little boring to me.
Who would have thought bunnies would be so effective at driving a plot and bringing two people together. I sure as hell wasn't expecting it, and yet here I am, madly in love with Marshall and Gus as a couple, and as individuals. All thanks to a few bunnies doing what they do best on an island without predators.
For a book with ONE penetrative sex scene, this was one of the hottest books I've read this year. The tension between Marshall and Gus was off the charts. And it shows that shoving it in is not actually necessary for a good time. My lordy. These two. We're kept waiting for that one scene, but all the build-up was delicious. That being said, I would have still welcomed more. Other people (and rabbits) were going at it a lot more than these two, and that's completely unfair to them and us.
Gus (Augusta) and I are a lot alike. Ok, yes, I'm not a supermodel by a long way, but I don't like rushing into intimacy. Hell, for someone who loves dirty jokes and sexy books as much as I do, I feel super weird when guys rush into sexual flirtation too quickly. (#demilife.) So her hesitance to jump into anything, and her lack of trust in men in general, was very relatable. I also looooved that she was a vet. In another life, I would have studied zoology and worked with animals like Gus does, and even if Amy made up a lot of the process (she admits to as much in a very funny author's note at the end), it still was a fun ride. It also allowed Marshall and us as readers to focus on how amazing Gus is as a competent woman (who can desex animals with a scalpel).
Marshall came across as a bit douchey at first, but he very quickly won me over. Like, almost instantly. We learn why he's so eager to tear apart the island fairly quickly, so we can focus on falling in love and watching Gus try not to fall in love for most of the book. I'm really glad about that, as it had me very invested in them as a couple almost from the start. I really loved that Marshall was not overly ripped, didn't have a monster dick, and was successful even though he dropped out of high school (for a reason). He was just such a normal guy... except he's not like many guys I know because he understood Gus' limits and didn't pressure her to do things she'd regret while drunk and had the patience to wait her out. And he found it hot that she was so smart! Why can't more guys be like that! (But then Amy is a woman and knows what I want to read.)
If you're on the lookout for competence porn, feminist heroes, rough hands but gentle hearts, and bunnies, do yourself a favour and read this book.
Please now enjoy some bunnies.
