Thank you for gifting this to me Dakshata! It was a perfect Saturday winter sunny morning read. The book brings forth small nuggets of wisdom in the form of different stories, some of which are indeed very beautiful. Some of the stories however lack the depth and the absolute Truth about life that should have been brought to light. The author also seems to be writing about meditation without having any true understanding about it or having truly experienced its beauty. The book talks about happiness on a conceptual level, but fails to give any practical tools to actually weave it into daily life, which I gladly found in my life. On the whole the book is definitely a must read, the stories bring a refreshing perspective to those who don't know about the grander picture of life.

Life has its own share of complexities that might upset you often. The tougher task is to look at the brighter side and enjoy every moment spent. ‘The Little Buddha’ is not a book but a treasure trove of experiences in the form of stories. One day when little Buddha gets tired of sitting under the bodhi tree, he decides to venture into the different places where different kinds of people dwell. Gathering a lot of learning from their stories, the little Buddha learns that life is made up of small moments of happiness.

Life has its own way to teach us certain things. And the buddha's travel is a way to teach him such valuable lessons. It all started with a simple thought.

I more relate to the blind witch story. The writer defined it with ease and his message is clear. If you want to read this, go ahead. A short book with lots of wonderful stories.

Little buddha is a story of journey, a holiday trip into the people by the little buddha himself. Bored with his daily routine, goes out for a trip around, on his way he meets different people, observers learns different things about people and their experiences.
This is a collection of short experiences that he has encountered and learnt over his journey. one of the stories told in the book that I liked the most ism below:
Once upon a time there was an old man who was teaching his grand childrfen about life. He spoke to them.
Deep inside of me there is a fight, a terrible fight between two wolves. One wolf represents all bad things - fear, envy, anger, arrogance, greed, lies, ignorance, guilt, inferiority and ego. The other represents all good things - Joy, peace, love, hope sharing, friendship, compassion, generosity, truth and faith
he continued. 'the same fight exists deep inside you too, just as it does in every other person in the world'
The grand children thought about his words, and after a little while one of them had a question for the grand father.
'So which wolf is going to win?'
The old man answered calmly. 'The one you feed'

There are a few such stories in the book.
I did like the book however the best readers of the book are kids and teens. I do suggest that school kids can read and if understood well can actually reform their lives much happily into the adulthood and old age.
I am rating it 3.5.

This book doesn’t even deserve my rating it.

Criminally misleading

Just one this phrase merits DNFing this book on account of lying to the readers in the face!

“If you really expect something good to happen, then you will encounter exactly that.”

Really ?? What a load of bs!! Who can corroborate that? Does the author actually think somebody will buy this bs ?

And then this: “Patience to allow the good things in life to simply happen”. Simply happen. Lmfao. What the sweet hell is this? What imbeciles are the target audience for this “wisdom”?

This primitive “eye-opener” belongs in the same trash can as The Why Cafe series and The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. Same platitudinous bs. For people who have zero self-awareness and need others to explain common truths to them.

How did these amoebas even survive till now without these banalities put in black and white in front of them like some breakthrough life-saving information?

It's a feel-good book, a meditation on the good things in life - kindness, friendship, patience etc
The challenge of course is to convey these things in a way that's not cliched, hackneyed or trite. The book is reasonably successful at this, providing little beautiful moments. There are a few places wherein it fails, but that's okay.

A nice, short read (which to make it into a movie would require a lot of thought and effort ;) )

This has been one of the most delightful books I've read this year. So much so that after reading it for free on Amazon Prime, I'm considering purchasing the hard copy as well. I wouldn't even mind gifting it to all my loved ones. The author has explained succinctly and efficiently many of the lessons of life and wisdom much required during today's troubled times. Reading the book provided a lot of comfort. One of the biggest recommendations for 2021

Little gem of a book about life, it's beauty and the innumerous lessons sprinkled along it's way.

These lessons are something that we are aware of. But in the busy race called life, we often overlook these and sink deep into the quagmire.

Simple and free flowing language adds to the books charms.

Must read.

This is a short travelogue of a little monk, weaved with few parables told by people whom he meet in his journey. Problem with these parables is that almost all of them sounds so familiar and stale. You just don't feel reading anything new. A generous two stars.
