Sarah K. L. Wilson is a USA Today Bestselling author who writes fantasy stories featuring practical heroes & heroines in the most impractical circumstances. She loves writing because it is the only way to make a living and give back to the world when your primary skill is an overactive imagination and a tendency toward violent daydreams. Sarah can be found in the outdoors of Northern Ontario with her young boys and beloved husband, reading a book, or fending off her husband's pet turkeys with a straw broom. You can find Sarah's books in paperback, hardcover, ebook and audiobook and they have also been translated into Italian, German, and (very soon) Turkish. Please, do, enjoy the read!
Tor either always looks for problem or it seems to be following him all the time.
He’s in a tight space, with enemies surrounding him everywhere he goes and being sick with some magic illness, he doesn’t know if he will live long enough to help his friends and allies
With one very worried dragon, and a pretty girl having to fuss over him, Tor doesn’t feel very heroic at all, and yet being a hero he is.
But Tor has so much at stake now, he has more people he cares about to protect, but he also needs to learn to protect himself from his mimic. His shadow who brings the worse of him, he must learn to resist him before he becomes someone he doesn’t want to be.
Will Tor be free from all this trouble and drama?
Tor is a great character, he is strong and independent but he also seeks the help and advice of others. I have enjoyed watching him grow throughout these books !
Received a copy from the author herself, for an honest review, thank you!
As always the fast pace and excitement keep you pulled in when reading about Tor and Saboraak. I love how he is struggling with good and evil in his life as well as dealing with his mimic. I also love watching his relationship with Zyla, how he handles certain things. I can not wait to read the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book
Barely alive, Tor is rescued by Saboraak and Zyla and flown through storms of rain and gold (..er...dust that appears gold to the feverish, hallucinatory Tor). As Tor’s injuries are caused by magic, a special healer is required to heal him, before the trio can deliver an important message to a captain in a sky city that has so far escaped destruction. But first things first: Hubric sends Zyla, Saboraak and Tor to just such a healer as is required for the magical wounds, one who is rather deeply indebted to Hubric. Thus enters a new character into our story, Eventen . Is he trustworthy? Tor thinks not when he shows attention to Zyla. Will she fall for it? After treatment, while flying, Tor finally begins reading the book “Ibrenicus Prophecies”, which he should have been reading all along. He finds an interesting addendum, by none other than “The Chosen One”, written especially for those living in these ‘last days’—a warning and some instructions, for those battling the dark forces of evil. (I could not help but think of the book of Revelation, written in signs, giving warnings and instructions for those living in our last days). Be that as it may, Tor finally takes seriously the reading assignment he has been urged to do from the beginning of his journey with Hubric. Hopefully, the prophecy will be able to enable him to fight the evil powers of the golem and the Magikas that made them. This episode moves us along into Tor’s taking on the responsibilities of an adult in learning his role, learning the history of the battle in his day, as it is an extension of an ancient battle brought down to his day. The tender affections between Zyla and Tor are tested by the new man, and then strengthened by their enduring together further assaults from unexpected angles. The twists and turns of the action in the story once again keep the reader turning the page as quickly as it can be read. Tor is learning to control his shadow..i.e....his darker side, which is mandatory if he is to succeed in becoming the man he wants, and is needed, to become. This epic fantasy will be cherished by readers of all ages.
Ok, the good news is that my wonderful husband got me four, yes four, of Sarah K. L. Wilson’s amazing Dragon Chameleon books, volumes 6 to 9 (World of Legends, Chase the Moon, Shadow Quest and Creeping Darkness). The bad news is that these are so addictive that I’ve pretty much spent every waking hour (or at least every such hour when the staff at the hospital I’m currently virtually imprisoned in allow me) doing nothing but reading these. The yin and yang of it is that boy oh boy was doing so fun, but darn oh darn do I now need the next books in this amazing series! This series of relatively short tales continues to be a wild ride as we follow Tor, the reluctant hero, Shabren, their mimics, the Dragons Saboraak and Kyrowat, the Ka’vai, the golems threat, and so much more. Simply too much to summarize in a single review, but the publisher’s blurbs do the job well enough. Add to those summaries that these stories are superbly told, the characters in them wonderfully crafted and the overarching story arc pretty much perfect. Really, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. These books definitely deserve it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that each of these books is most definitely “one to read”, and all of them are easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next books in this series.
The dedication made me choke up (in a good way!). Thank you.
A fast-paced, exciting, surprising new installment. The story is never going where you think it’s gonna go. And the dry humor is unparalleled. Quote, Tor: “I didn’t like being the damsel in distress. I didn’t have the hair for it.” Tor now has a nifty little scar which burns hot when someone (including himself) tells a lie. And: he’s jealous. Ha!
Sarah K.L. Wilson has enriched my life with words. Words can be so powerful. They’re strung together in such a way they made a lasting impression on me. These books: they take me on a journey, they take my breath away, they make me laugh, they make me cry. I’d say: jump up that dragon and join in the adventure!
Tor, as usual, was a right mess. Shabren had tortured him badly and Saboraak had to rescue him again. He was sent to a healer with Zyla as company, whilst Hubric went to free the people from the cave. After healing he was to go to one of the sky cities to deliver a message, but things never go as smoothly as they should. However, Tor and Zyla get closer and closer.
I was so excited to read this instalment, i read it in one go. Trouble certainly seems to follow Tor about quite easily. Perhaps the relationship between him and Zyla may turn into something the future who knows. Roll on book nine. Highly recommended.
Things are getting stranger. The magikas seems to have more magic tricks up their sleeves than we thought they are capable of. And the World of Shadows seems to become more important. Of course a cliffhanger makes us anxiously wait for the next installment.
Tor is saved by Saboraak and Zyla. He needs more healing than Hubric and Zyla can provide so the group splits up to try and save everyone. Tor, Zyla and Saboraak run into some familiar faces along the way. Can't wait to see what these guys get up to next.
Enjoying all the stories and interesting characters in Dragon Chameleon series. Just finished #8 and looking forward to Creeping Darkness. Keep them coming Sarah. Very enjoyable!!!
I must say I’m really enjoying these stories, first Dragon School and now Tor and Zyla’s story. They are fast paced and fun. I just wish I didn’t have to wait for each installment, but at least it’s not a long wait.
Tor seems to have this knack of finding trouble. Good thing he has Saboraak and Zyla to help him. Sent to be healed of his wounds can he trust the person he is sent to. At least Tor finally reads the book of prophecies, maybe he can finally understand his purpose.
Once more saved by his beloved dragon, Saboraak and Zyla, The epic continues. But will Tor survive his mysterious magical illness he received by his enemy? And what are the green dragons? What happen to the floating city where they should deliver the message? What are the shadows?
I am loving the development of the mc Tor. I am enjoying the interaction he is having with his dragon Saboraak, and his female counterpart Zyla. He keeps getting into trouble, but seems to always get back out of it somehow. I can't wait to keep reading this series to see where our hero finds himself next
Shadows are coming! Tor will have to decide which side will lead him - good or bad? Choices aren't always easy. He's still growing on me. Zyla is GREAT! I think I lie her the most and enjoy her character! I hope Tor will know what to do!
Sarah writes a wonderful fantasy with dragons and gives her characters so much development, they feel like real people. Love the main character is the thief they caught and ended up helping them in the end. Love how he has to fight and wins in the end.
This fast paced story keeps getting better. But even with all the action, there was still an opportunity for development between Tor and Zyla's romance. I can't wait to read the next book!
I really enjoyed reading this novella. It's a quicker read for those that are a bit pressed on time, and if you enjoy YA fantasy with dragons and plenty of adventure, you need to read this series.
Tor seems to be thinking more of others than himself, he is forming deeper feelings for justice and is developing a deeper respect and bond with his Dragon.
The more I read this series, the more I like Tor. In spite of his inner dialog, where he constantly denies his more noble instincts, he has grown and become a better man. Watching his character develop, is like watching a younger brother...and I'm just as proud of him as I would be of a brother. This series is a great read and I recommend it to fantasy fans of all ages!
