Well constructed, mostly brief poems. Many of them were written in dimeter and trimeter. I might re-read this next time I'm feeling sick of pentameter. My only complaints are that it was too short, and some of the Latin translations were not interesting (I would have preferred more Cunningham originals).

There were bits and pieces of this I deeply loved, but much of it was gnomic in ways which reminded me of early Auden, but without either evoking a great deal from a skim of the surface, or being a nut that was crackable to something worth chewing over beneath. I think I would need more time with it (the library only let me have it for 6 weeks) to make a better assessment.

September 17, 2013A very traditional formalist. Challenging but i'm not sure worth puzzling out, in the main. There are also several amusing epigrams.
