Mia Cade, event planner extraordinaire, lives far from her family because of their constant interference in her life and lack of faith in her ability to live independently. And that’s exactly what her father does when he learns she’s doing business with someone he suspects is a shady character, and so he more or less blackmails newly civilianized Navy Seal, Spence Lloyd into masquerading his way into her life to be her secret bodyguard. Spence manipulates his way into becoming Mia’s assistant without actually revealing who he is. They fight the attraction, Mia because she believes it’s unprofessional and Spence because it’s immoral...since he is reporting her actions back to her father. But they can only hold out so long and both give into their insane chemistry. Spence honestly does discover a threat to Mia’s life, but her father refuses to allow him to reveal his true identity. But then, Mia finds out on her own and the feelings that have been building for Spence come crashing down around her. But even though Mia is angry and Spence begins to realize he’s lost his hope for a future with Mia, he sticks around to keep her protected.

I liked these characters overall. Mia is a very strong, independent woman with ambition and she resents the fact that her family can’t just trust her to live her life. I actually happen to agree with her...the family is entirely too interfering, as evidenced by her father’s actions. On the whole, this is a believable conflict. I’ve been reading a lot of these hero deception books lately and this one, mostly, delivered it well. Spence is believably conflicted and kinda stuck in his current predicament if he wants to do his dream job now that he’s no longer in the military. Added to that, there really isn’t any harm in it at first...even to Mia’s feelings, since they seem to be doing the “just sex” thing. And I was able to forgive Spence up until a certain point. He does the right thing and argues with his boss, Mia’s father, that she needs to know...and part of it is because he’s uncomfortable lying to her now that he’s sleeping with her. But Spence also makes the argument that there is a genuine threat to Mia and for her safety, she needs to know what’s going on. But then her father puts the blackmail pressure on and Spence is faced with Mia’s safety versus his chance at a dream job. He chooses the job. The author seems to forget that Spence made this argument and focuses on Spence rationalizing it so he feels he’s doing the right thing. But I remembered. So I made the connection that Spence’s future job was more important to him than Mia’s safety. Once Mia does find out, she does a great job at keeping up the mad (too bad we don’t get to see her initial interaction with her father, the real villain here). And Spence naturally realizes he’s messed it up and his guilt is well written too (though he keeps forgetting that he had a chance to do it right so he’s still kind of at fault...didn’t see him offering to sacrifice that lovely job for Mia). My biggest issue in this story though is that Mia ends up completely forgiving Dad, looking at his interfering actions as “just doing what’s best for her out of love” and completely overlooking the fact that he basically blackmailed someone to be her bodyguard in secret. I could even get past the forgiveness, but Mia coming to accept and even approve of her dad’s actions was just wrong and brought down my enjoyment of this story.

Navy SEAL Bodyguard by Tawny Weber
AEGIS Security #2

When Spence Lloyd is in midst of doing final paperwork to leave the Navy his commanding officer offers him an undercover job with the promise that if he succeeds there will be the perfect job for him with AEGIS Security when he finishes – a job that would allow him to use all of his skills and do so in a rewarding way. So, of course he takes on the job. What is the job? Being the bodyguard for Mia Cade, daughter of his commanding officer. Babysitting is what he and Mia’s father think he will be doing but just in case there is more to the job than either of the two military men believe will happen – Spence will be on the job.

Spence is on task for the mission, has a plan and will execute it. He will keep Mia safe and keep his identity secret...as per orders...no matter what. When Spence first sees Mia he hopes she is available as he is interested in her...at least physically. When Mia sees Spence she feels the same. As Mia never plans to settle down with anyone in the military this could prove to be a deal breaker but they can still have fun as long as she doesn’t know who Spence really is, right?

Throw in the fact that this is going to be more than a babysitting job and that there will be bad guys to thwart and there will be a HEA ending...eventually...and you have all the elements of a great Romantic Suspense.

I really liked the chemistry between Mia and Spence and even appreciated that their families cared about them in a rather meddling way. There were times I thought Mia, for someone so aware, was a bit gullible.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

ARC for honest review with no compensation

Navy Seal Bodyguard is book 2 in the Aegis Security series by Tawny Weber and another great read!

Once a Seal always a Seal even when you are injured and know your days are numbered to leave the team. Time has run out for Spence Lloyd and while processing his final paperwork the Admiral has one final mission...being an undercover bodyguard for the Admiral’s daughter, Mia Cade. The Admiral has a dangling carrot...that if he succeeds he will have a job with Aegis!

Spence thinks it’s just a babysitting job except this is not a young girl but a woman who presses all his buttons! Mia on the other hand wants no parts of a bodyguard, a military man but maybe a fling would be good...but the bad guys are determined to take Mia out...

Can Spence keep her safe, show her military men are a special breed, keep her satisfied and find their HEA without the meddling families...

I am really liking this new series. Spence has always wanted to be a SEAL, he got is wish, but now, after being hurt, he is leaving the Navy. He is hoping for a job with Aegis, but has one last mission to accomplish. That is to guard the admiral's daughter. Mia wants nothing to do with military. She has had enough of her parent's interfering. When she needs an assistant, Spence shows up and starts right in. He is used to directing ops, so this should be a piece of cake. Right? The problem is, Mia is not only beautiful, she is intelligent and good at her job. He is immediately attracted. He can't lose focus. He has a job to do. He sure doesn't like lying to her, but orders are orders and he is a good sailor. What will she do when she finds out the truth?

Ms. Weber writes the most interesting Seal books that you don’t want to put the book down! I loved Mia’s strength in her business endeavors. I felt bad that she always felt her family was trying to manipulate her which made her feel they didn’t trust her. Spencer hated to leave the Navy and his Seal team, but he is happy to go on the mission to protect the Admiral’s daughter undercover. Boy was he knocked off his feet when he sees how beautiful she is. Of course, he is no slouch when it comes to the looks either. I am sure it took a lot for Spencer to be Mia’s administrative assistant after being a Seal! But he is very good at his job. There are also some threats that are going on around Mia and her uncle that Spencer is determined to keep her safe. Ms. Weber did a great job of keeping the “who done it” a secret until the end. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of the book.

When you spend so much of your life fighting a lifestyle you never think it’s going to come around on you.

Mia Cade was sure she was never going to date a military man. She was sure she was never going to manipulate people into doing what she wanted. She was determined to do good. She was going to help organizations raise funds for good causes. She was going to do good work and she was NOT going to let her family interfere with her life, at this point her life was hers.

Spencer Lloyd was devastated and yet enthralled at the same time. He couldn’t believe he was leaving the SEAL’s but to be considered even for the Aegis? That was an honor he couldn’t turn down, even if the interview was little more than babysitting. All he had to do was get through the month and then he would have his second dream job and could move on.

When you throw together two people with a scorching chemistry, international politics, five million dollar events and the threat of murder nothing can ever be clean and simple. One blown lie changes things once and then a bullet can change things forever.

I admit I am not a big romantic suspense person. I have a huge love of Ms. Weber’s work though and really wanted to read it even if I didn’t like the genre. I am SO glad I did. This is truly a wonderful work that will draw you into the story and into their lives. Now I admit this is a great novel especially if you have read any of her other SEAL work. That being said the one thing I didn’t like about it was her ending. Yes there is a HEA but it felt almost as if she ran out of time and just need to finish to finish. There was not the usual “ahhhhhhh” moment at the end. Overall though be aware you will be drawn into this book and not want to put it down. You also might start to change the way you see the entire genre, yes her writing is really that good.

Mia and Spence are a lot more alike than they think.
She is a strong and independent woman. He is a Navy SEAL. But will their strong personalities clash? Filled with danger and deceit, fiery passions and deep abiding love this story is a great read!

Mia hates when her family meddles. That's why she is as far away as she can be. Being her own boss, running her own event planning company and killing it. When she has the chance to land the account of her dreams she has to take it.

Spence hates lying. But when the admiral orders him to protect his daughter at all costs then he has to obey. But one look at Mia and she takes his breath away. But ingraining himself into her company as her assistant and security was easier than he thought. Keeping his hands to himself not so much. Especially when she uses him as a buffer between her new older client. Even saying he is her boyfriend doesn't keep the sleazeball from making moves.

Mia has a hard time keeping her mind on work. Every time Spence is near she loses her train of thought. But with the series of fundraisers for Alcosta drawing to an end she has one last chance to see what could be. Anna's d Spence is more than could be imagined. Strong, sexy and empowering he is everything she wants and more.

With the end drawing close Spence feels something is off. Keeping Mia safe is his first priority and he feels in his gut something is wrong. When someone close betrays her Spence risks everything to keep her safe. Even if it costs him his life. Will they even have a chance at love? Will Mia be able to forgive him for lying to her about everything? Can Mia overcome her feelings about military men to give them a shot?

It had been a minute since I had been able to get into one of this author's novels being so busy but when I seen it had to get into it. Spence has a hurdle thrown at him but he goes a different way. It also has a different flavor than he is used to with now being a bodyguard to Mia. They both will have their own agenda which will give us the reader entertainment but it also has adventure with where it goes. When things go to the left you are really given a plate full of a darn good read. Throw in also the chemistry that tickles between these two it becomes one that is well done.

Spence is a man struggling to find his footing. After an injury ends his career in the SEAL's, his commander gives him one last mission. He has to gain the trust of Mia, the commander's daughter, and protect her from the man he thinis,ks is trying to harm her. If he does this, the commander will give him a stellar recommendation with the Aegis Security team. He accepts, but realizes that he is dosomed as soon as he sees Mia.
MIa is a gorgeous, strong, independent woman. He doesn't understand why he is there because from what he sees, Mia doesn't need anyone to protect her. Once he infiltrates her inner circle, he realizes there might be some truth to Mia being in danger. He steps up and becomes her assistant. Surprisingly, he is really good at that job.
As they get to know each other, the attraction becomes stronger and stronger, and they realize that they like each other. When Mia lets it be known that she would never have a relationship with a Seal, or anyone in the service, he tries to stay away, but he can't. He hates lying to her, but his commander won't let him tell her what is going on.
He tries to tell her that she will hate him, and regret her decision, if they take their relationship farther, but she promises him she won't. With just the right amount of intrigue (is there someone trying to hurt her, and if so who and why), romance (attraction so hot and steamy you know it is going to combust), lies, hurt, and shock (what happens at the gala), you will keep turning the pages until you are done.
A wonderful book in the series and I can't wait to read more. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

I thought this book offered a wonderful blend of romance, suspense and emotion. I really liked Mia and Spence. They shared great chemistry and I felt that they made a awesome couple. Mia was sassy and sweet and Spense was wounded and swoony. Add in some tension, drama and a few twists and you have a terrific read. This is my honest, voluntary review.

Spence had to resign himself that his career as a SEAL was over. An injury took that part of his life. He still had a life and there was plenty he could do--just not what he loved with the team of his brothers in arms. He had an opportunity. All he had to do was babysit his commander's daughter. First: she was no young kid but a beautiful woman -- beautiful hot woman he couldn't touch but he sure could look. Two: he couldn't tell her why her father wanted her with extra protection so he had to fit into her lifestyle.

Mia was determined to prove to her family that she was a success. Her charity event planning business was growing. She just needed a couple more big clients to put her over the top. Her big chance came just at the time she lost her assistant. Enter Spence. Not that a SEAL (she didn't know his background) was good at table setting and flowers but he wasn't called Improv for nothing.

Using his contacts to check out the client list and anyone else suspicious showed noting concrete but enough to make him worry. His orders were to do what was necessary. Would that include using his contacts for under the table information gathering? Protecting his daughter from handsy clients? Playing a role? And so much more.

The chemistry was too hot. The danger from too many sides. The authorities unwilling to listen. Would Spence be able to save the girl, help her save her business, find a way to be with the girl, and live to get the job of his dreams?

I loved the characters. The situation was unique for a SEAL story and as always the author has done it again. Another winner for Tawny Weber.

When Spence is forced to retire from his position as a Navy SEAL due to injury, he agrees to one last assignment as upon its successful completion he will have a job at AEGIS Security. He takes what he believes will be an easy task of protecting his commanding officer’s daughter, but he soon realizes that there is much more to Mia and the assignment that he believed.

Mia has created a charity event planning business and she is determined that it will be a success. When she needs to replace her assistant Spence seems like the perfect man for the job. Since she is unaware of Spence’s true vocation when the chemistry between them ignites, she is in danger of breaking her firm rule that she will never become romantically involved with a military man.

Between the escalating danger that is drawing nearer, and Spence’s true identity will they be able to overcome all the obstacles and have their happy ever after?

Tawny Weber’s new book “Navy SEAL Bodyguard” is hot hot hot. There is so much passion between these two but they are fighting from showing it. They are fighting there Attraction for the job. Spence is Undercover for her father for protection against Alcosta for he is not a very good guy. Mia has no clue what is going on she’s just running her business working hard. Spence is Undercover as her assistant. Then the book heated up. I really enjoyed reading “Navy SEAL Bodyguard.” I liked the characters and the plot. I was drawn in from the very beginning. Everything drew me in. There was a little mystery of wanting to know what Alcosta is up too with wanting Mia’s uncle at his fund raisers. Also what will happen with Mia and Spence. I highly recommend this book for I could not put it down for I really enjoyed reading Tawny Weber’s new book.

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.

I'm loving this new series! Spence and Mia had the greatest chemistry! I loved how he just jumped right into the fray, flying by the seat of his pants. Mia was determined to run her business on her own. Their meddling families were a nice touch. I'm anxiously awaiting the next in series...

Once again, this talented author gives the reader a superb story.
This one centers around Navy SEAL Lt. Spencer Lloyd, and party planner Mia Cade, daughter of a Navy Admiral.
While Spencer is trying to decide what to do with his life after an injury that will end his career as a Navy SEAL, he’s called to Admiral Cade’s office and given an order : go undercover and protect his daughter in exchange the Admiral will put in a good word to Aegis Security on his behalf. But if he refuses, then the Admiral would basically make a point of blocking any prospective employment in Spencer’s desired career.
Spencer is determined to keep Mia safe but once he meets her, the attraction between them is instant and he
wants to come clean.
In the midst of this engaging plot we encountered evil and dangerous individuals, as well as a few good hunky ones.
Both Spencer and Mia are strong and likable characters.
I promise you’ll enjoy the book from the first page to the last. Hopefully, we get more stories in this series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

You can feel the suspense build and finally boil over in the newest SEAL adventure by Tawny Weber.
Spence is just following orders when he meets and lies to Mia, but as his heart gets involved keeping up the lie becomes more difficult. When Mia discovers the truth will she forgive Spence or will danger find them first?

If you love Navy Seals then this is the book for you! This one takes a different turn as Spense is relieved from duty due to an injury he had and is now trying to decide what path to take to support himself. He takes a job as the Admiral's daughter's secret bodyguard. I was impressed with how well he adapted to his new life style. He remains true to his Seal training while becoming Mia's assistant and taking orders from her. A nice twist on a Seal's story.

Who can resist a story about a wonderfully independent and successful entrepreneur (Mia Cade, freelance event coordinator) and a recently retired (due to an injury) SEAL (Spence Lloyd)? Throw in some drama, romance and suspense, and wow! Another great Tawny Weber story!

Mia Cade is working hard to grow her business as a freelance event coordinator. Spence has been asked by her father, who happens to be a high-ranking admiral with ties that can make or break Spence’s post-SEAL career ambitions, to guard his daughter, Mia. He is hoping to join Aegis Security, a private security company made up of many former SEALs, and a good word from the admiral would go far.

When Spence and Mia meet for the first time, their attraction is immediate. But Spence is working as a bodyguard and there are stipulations that Spence must follow (vague here to avoid spoilers!) in guarding Mia and yet, he’s finding it difficult to resist Mia.

Without giving the story away, there are many suspenseful twists and turns, hot chemistry between Spence and Mia and a very touching ending!

If you are looking for a romantic SEAL story, don’t miss this one!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.

Navy Seal Bodyguard (new Aegis bodyguards) has it all, mystery, hot romance, laughter and sadness all wrapped up in one amazing book.
Spence is hired by Mia's father to keep watch over her as she sets off to create a name for her as a Event coordinator. Spence become suspicion of a man wanting Mia to create elaborate events for him. Mia and Spence have really great chemistry and they work so well together. Another great new series from Tawny Weber.

Loved Mia, she has a lot of spunk, drive and heart. Mia is a event planner. She is having an assistant problem, she can't seem to get one to stay. In walks Spence with his can do attitude and starts as Mia's assistant. Mia doesn't know Spence was sent by her father to protect her. Spence falls hard for Mia and wants to tell her why he is really there but orders are orders. Mia falls for Spence and thinks everything is great but she has a no military rule. If a guy was in or is currently in the military he is a no go but the heart wants what the heart wants. They have their teary moment and all hell breaks loose right about that time. Then they have their happily ever after. Mia and Spence are great for each other. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.

I'm really startled by all the positive reviews of this book. I have to wonder how many were in exchange for a free copy. The characters are uninteresting and the writing is very amateurish in overall quality (or lack thereof,) vocabulary choice, etc, plus there are a number of blatant mistakes (i.e. heroine is said to have black hair and on the next page she’s referred to as a brunette, a new character is suddenly present in the room with no entry or explanation, etc.) Also, maybe it’s just because I read mainly historical romance but I never thought I’d read the heroine describing the hero as... slurp-worthy...?! DNF, too painful to continue reading.
