Four Funny Potatoes! (Hilarious Rhyming, Picture Book for Kids Ages 3-7) by Len Foley

Four Funny Potatoes by Len Foley is an offbeat and whimsical illustrated children's book, wherein Benny the banana is mistakenly cast as a potato in this fanciful all food musical about the silly shenanigans happening during the night. While in a rehearsal, Benny must explain that he is not a potato for several reasons. He is neither a potato nor a yellow squash and ultimately he is recognized as a banana before a rather macabre twist ending.

Foley uses an easy to understand and lyrical writing style in this silly tale of individuality and uniqueness. This funny and short book with minimal text is meant to be read to and by children under age seven. Although not overly action-packed, it is filled with likable and quirky characters. Each cartoony anthropomorphic personality will bring amusement to young readers. Foley is a Mom's Choice Award recipient for his children's book, Sigfried's Smelly Socks. Four Funny Potatoes is his second illustrated children's book and he has a third book on its way in 2019.

I enjoyed reading this colorful illustrated children's book, with its exaggerated characters. I rate Four Funny Potatoes by Len Foley 4 out of 5 stars. There were no glaring editorial mistakes, therefore I believe it is well edited. I think young readers will enjoy reading it while learning of the individual uniqueness of shape, color, and mind found in us all. I hope the young reader in your family will enjoy this book as much as I did.

Comical, amusing, and innovative are the adjectives I would use for Len Foley's Four Funny Potatoes.

The book essentially has three potatoes that sleep during the day but party at night and a banana that is frustrated on being called a potato. The pages are peppered with witty lines and remarks between all kinds of fruits and vegetables.

Embellished with colorful pictures and words, the pages are not only fascinating to look at but also make for an engaging read for kids and adults alike. The portrayal of uniqueness, individuality, and teamwork through easy and fun-to-read lines is definitely one aspect that makes this children's book so special. Understanding these subtle messages may require the help of an adult and can also be fruitful in initiating a purposeful dialogue with kids.

Some words are highlighted with their picture illustrated alongside them; this will help in recognition of those words and their meaning. The lines are rhyming in nature and can be read as a song too. Hence, the book is a must read for young kids who are learning to read and write or recognise words through pictures.

I strongly recommend buying this book to parents of young kids and preschoolers. They can consider it as an opportunity to engage with their kids and cherish the act of reading along with them.

his simple rhyming book will teach children how to identify fruits and vegetables. The protagonists are three funny potatoes, the fourth is a banana. Every night the denizens of the kitchen put on a show. Each performs an act. The grand finale consists of the potatoes singing their funny song. But Benny the banana protests he is not a potato. He insists that he is one of a kind. Eventually, all the members of the kitchen show realize they are all unique but can work best as a team.

The simple text and bright, appealing illustrations who perform silly antics are a perfect way to teach young children to identify kitchen foods. While I highly recommend the book for preschoolers and young children, the ending is a strange choice for that target audience.

Super funny!

This book was really funny! I love how the illustrations ways and how the words were and how there was a banana who was called a potato. My favorite part of the bike would have to be after the potato, I mean after the banana was eaten and on his stone inside and be loud potato and then the next page showed him in heaven saying I am not a potato I’m a banana! That part was super funny . My kids laugh so much while I read this book. Keep them coming

Very cute book for kids

Just a cute children's book. Kind or reminds me of the movie Sausage Party with the images & text, but of course waaayy toned down to be appropriate for children. :)

I received this e-book free from www.onlinebookclub.com for my honest review, and these are my honest thoughts and feelings on this particular book.

This is a good book to read & share with kids because it has lots of picture to share with small kids to help them understand better. Four very funny potatoes & a banana learn how to get along although they’re different.

Cute

This is a cutesy book for children. This has a message, though children wouldn’t be able to understand it, but it’s a good book.
