About the author
Steven Jenkins
34 books197 followersBorn in the small Welsh town of Llanelli, Steven began writing stories at the age of eight. His inspiration came from his love for ‘80s horror movies, and novels by Stephen King and the late Richard Matheson.
During Steven’s teenage years, as well as being a black-belt kickboxer, he became a great lover of writing dark and twisted poems – six of which gained him publications with Poetry Now, Brownstone Books, and Strong Words.
Over the next few years, and after becoming a father and a husband, Steven's passion drove him towards writing short stories, gaining him further publication with Dark Moon Digest: an American horror magazine. His terrifying tales of the afterlife and zombies gained him positive reviews, particularly his story, Burning Ambition, which also came runner up in a Five-stop-story contest.
Finally, in 2013, after years of hard work (and countless rejection letters), Steven got his debut novel, Fourteen Days, published by Barking Rain Press.

Thread is about a couple of police officers out riding the streets looking for people on Thread. Thread is new drug that is very addictive and dangerous to the person taking it or the person around them.
Thread is like a onetime use drug one use and you are hooked. It changes you into something horrible it turns you into a monster, a vampire.
On this one particular night this police officer probably wishes he had stayed home with his family. The horrors that he witnesses on this night is horrific.
Thread is a very short read that packs a whole lot of punch. It reads like a full length novel that keeps it secrets well-hidden right up until the end. It will keep you guessing as to where the story line is going.
I would like to see more of Thread and its whole new twist on the vampire world. I think Thread has a lot more that it would like to tell us.
I would recommend Thread to all fans of vampires.

A pair of cops patrol the streets were a vicious drug called Thread is turning people into monsters.
This story drags on longer than it needs to, ambling through an awkward small talk between the two cops and a couple of stops to intimidate Thread users. Then the main plot point is only a few pages, and the final twist is on the very last page. I think focusing more on the main plot - i.e. the events in the house with Dion and her family - and expanding this would have made better pacing, and would have mirrored the twist on the last page better.
Drawn out and following much the same tropes as previous Jenkins stories, I give this a 2/5.

Story of a police officer and his trainee attempting to cope with a drug called Thread. Steven Jenkins took his readers through the consequences of using the drug, as well as how the policeman deals with the people and events he deals with during one evening shift.
A short story that could have been much longer. Had my attention from beginning to end. I have no hesitation in recommending this book.

Thread the drug of choice but once it has a hold the choice is taken away. Forever changed there is no going back. A cure? Maybe one day!

A new drug that eventually if you use it enough turns you into a monster vampire, I liked this short story it leaves alot to the imagination. A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own

Great horror story for a short journey. I hope Steven will continue with this story but in a longer format. Brilliant read keep it up.

Really good vampire short story. People are gripped by the drug Thread which has devastating effects on them and puts the public in grave danger.

Good read
Enjoy reading this book. Has to admit some stories didn't end like I thought they would. But really enjoy reading them all.

This short story was just way too short, it felt incomplete and left so many unanswered questions. It definitely has potential to be longer.
