Hats off to this book. It is extremely well done. It incorporates a basic story to tell not only about Ganesha, including how he got his head in a way that will not freak out parents or children, but also about the celebration of his birthday. Not only is Ganesha and the celebration detailed but so is some language. Really nice done.
Culturegroove books are non-religious books and written for Global audience. I found them perfect for kids to read by themselves or to be read to. They perfectly follow their Motto. The motto of Cuture Groove Kids: Raise Multicultural kids. Connect kids to their Roots.
What I liked: The simple story line. The clear explanation of the stories without giving it a religious color. The words and language is perfect for children. The other factors about the festival are also highlighted. I liked how Lal Baugh cha Raja is introduced. As it is an important part of Ganesh Festival in Mumbai.
The illustrations are lovely. In this book too, my daughter was hunting for Chintu in each page. It was fun spotting him :)
Subtle integration of gender neutral concepts like Grandmother getting the idol home and Grandfather decorating and getting the house ready for Ganpati. I liked the Info recap, Pronunciation guide, Info zoom.
Ajanta Chakraborty and Vivek Kumar tell a charming and traditional of the Indian and Hindu story of Ganesha in "Let's Celebrate Ganesha's Birthday!" Siblings Maya and Neel along with their pet squirrel Chintu travel from Chicago to Mumbai in India for the first time. Their grandparents tell them the amazing story of Ganesha and take Maya, Neel, and Chintu to the 10 day celebration events of Ganesha's birthday. This book provides great insight into the traditions of Indian and Hindu culture with stories, dress attire, and festive celebrations. Chakraborty and Kumar do an amazing job with the story structure and beautifully colorful illustrations. The authors also provide great pronunciation, term, and story guides to help readers better understand what the words are and recap of the history of Ganesha. I recommend this book for anyone interested in learning about a different and unique culture.
I love this series about India’s cultural and religious figures for kids. As a European woman and a mom, me and my son get to touch through this book a little bit of India’s culture. I had seen Ganesha’s images but I didn’t know who he was and his story. This book helped me learn a bit more about him and how he is celebrated in India. I think the illustrations fit the story nicely, they are very colorful and bright, the characters are shown with their traditional clothes, the houses, and streets with all the traditional decorations. The overall style is able to convey India’s spirit and taste. I hope to read more books from this series and learn more about India’s icons and traditions.
In this book, Maya and Neel travel to India to celebrate Ganesha's Birthday. In the book, we learn about the local culture and tradition.
I love this book, the illustration is beautiful and the story is very engaging.
This is a beautiful series about the adventures of Maya and Neel around India's cultures. If you loved this book you probably will love the rest of them.

We are going to India in a short while and I bought the book as an aid in giving my 7 year old ability to educate herself on the upcoming trip. Beautiful colors. Fun illustrations and it super well written. It’s educational and fun
This is the story of one of the best known and most worshipped deities in Hinduism. The book is an educational picture book for young Hindu faith children, a study of culture for others. Well written with nice illustrations.
The book is beautifully illustrated with vibrant colors that pops off each page and goes well with the festivity in the story. The story is well written and wonderfully told and paints a picture of India.
I love the cultural aspect of this book. This could be a great addition to any preschool up to first-grade classroom. A nice illustration for the presentation of the culture . Works for around the world preschool theme.
This cultural story introduces the reader to Ganesha. There are pronunciation guides, a map, stories within the story. I would recommend this book if you want to learn about a special Indian celebration!
This is a great book for kids to teach them about another culture. Loved the story with the cultural information mixed in. The illustrations are bright and colorful and go great with the cute story.
Liked the way this book explained the reason behind the festival. And my kids identify with the kids being Americans with Indian origin and visiting Bombay.
