Axel Scheffler's Flip Flap books
Flip Flap Dinosaurs
A fun book in which children can learn and play with 11 jungle animals to create— combining torsos on one side and legs on the other— their own jungle creatures (there are 121 possibilities!). And the game not only involves the images, but also the rhymed text that when mixed will produce the most fun effects.

He moved to England in 1982 to learn English and study illustration at the Bath Academy of Art and then set up home in London. Axel illustrated a number of books for various publishers, and in 1993 Kate suggested him as the illustrator for Julia Donaldson’s first picture book text, A Squash and a Squeeze. This was the start of a hugely successful partnership: their bestselling modern classic, The Gruffalo, has sold over three-and-a-half million copies worldwide, and the TV animation was broadcast on Christmas day 2009.
Axel has illustrated a number of other highly successful books, including Muddle Farm, and his books have been translated into 42 languages.
Axel lives in London with his partner and young daughter.

February 22, 2019Fun and informative. There are different levels of this book for different ages and reading sessions. The youngest of readers can just look at the funny dinosaur shapes, slightly older readers can play with the funny names that are made by combining different dinosaurs, and then there are the descriptions.
A cross between a Tyrannosaurus and a Thalassomedon becomes:

Trannomedon:
I am a might meat-eater - a fearsome carnivore. So everyone should hide and run away from my big roar!
Unlike most other dinosaurs - I swim beneath the sea. My flippers are impressive so I can move gracefully.

With a fun rhyming text, this book will delight young dinosaur enthusiasts as they learn a few facts about each creature, before using the half-cut pages to mix and match one species with another to create their own humourous beasty.

Educational, interactive, 121 combinations for children to develop an intuitive and imaginative construction of dinosaurs.
Dino-maniac myself and of course my child (he's 2 years old), we spend Every-single-day reading this masterpiece, morning, noon and before bedtime.
Even as a pediatrician, I think it stimulates language skills in children of this age, who tend to search patterns and make repetitive tasks, because it introduces the variable of randomization to construct different dinosaurs.
