There is nothing quite like the love of a cat. Both revered and feared throughout history, cats are unique in the mystical truths and practical lessons they share with us. In The Karma of Cats, spiritual teachers, writers, and animal experts reflect on the wisdom and gifts they’ve received from their feline friends―exploring themes of radical respect, unconditional love, our spiritual nature, and more. Loving companions with wild spirits, our feline friends have much to teach all who welcome them into their homes and hearts.
“ The Karma of Cats is yet more proof that cats teach us to be better humans, and sometimes even save our lives. Read this book with a cat on your lap, then hand it to another biped in need of inspiration.” ―Caroline Paul, author of Lost Cat and The Gutsy Girl
“What I find most enticing about The Karma of Cats are the golden filaments of respect, delight, and appreciation that weave through the unique voice of each storyteller, these kindred spirits who―like ourselves―treasure the remarkable gifts bestowed upon us by our feline family members.” ―Susan Chernak McElroy, author of Why Buffalo Dance

Various is the correct author for any book with multiple unknown authors, and is acceptable for books with multiple known authors, especially if not all are known or the list is very long (over 50).
If an editor is known, however, Various is not necessary. List the name of the editor as the primary author (with role "editor"). Contributing authors' names follow it.

Our cats come to us; not because we call them, but because they love us and teach us life lessons. In a cat's silence, just being is our presence, is healing.
A cat can feel our emotions. Sleeping with a cat, brings us contentment. Cats are so independent that you never own them, only love them.
In ancient times, cats were worshiped. In todays world they act like they are worshiped.
I really like the story of a teenager wanting a cat. Together with her friend she said, lets go to the animal league to find one. Her friend said, we don't need to the the animal league. We can just drive around the city and find one on the streets. They found a kitten sitting on a door step surrounded by a group of older stray cats.
We admire the independent spirit in a cat.
Author Alice Walker said, she was born to hold a cat.
I didn’t realize this was from the POV of New Age/mysticism, etc. I guess I should have figured it out by the title, so my bad. In my defense, I see a non-fiction book about cats with a gorgeous cover like that and I immediately get grabby handed.
This isn’t a bad book, but I didn’t enjoy it personally. The stories were nice, though some involve cat death , which made me tear up and the only way I didn’t start crying was by skipping ahead, so not all of the stories are uplifting.
I can see many others enjoying this book. I am a Christian, so magick and summoning angels and having visions and psychically speaking to animals are not part of my belief structure, which caused me to not enjoy this book as much as I might have.
That being said, I think many would enjoy this book and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to someone if it was a good fit for them. It wasn’t a good fit for me, but that’s not a negative on the book or on me. Not every book is for everybody and that’s ok.
2.5 stars, rounded down to 2, because I almost cried a half dozen times while reading this during lunch at work. I was expecting a happier read. I guess life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. Again, not a bad read, just not for me.

The Karma of Cats is a collection of short stories/essays by various people on and about their cat(s) and how they have helped them be better people or overcome a difficult time. It is a journey into the connect and bond we have with these furry feline friends. It has long been known that animals are good for our mental health. They inspire and uplift us and are our most loyal friends, much more so than humans ever will be. These stories try to capture that fuzzy feeling in words. There is something magical that cats bring into our lives. They can be so many things from the jaunty ruler of the palace home to the cute snuggly reading partner. Whatever they are to you, you will can find something of that in these stories. It is difficult to critique the writing because of the multiple authors and thus writing styles. I can say, I found some of the stories to be inspiring, some uplifting and some sad. In fact, I recommend you have a box of tissue nearby. I liked some stories better than others, but that is normal for a collection. Yet even the stories that were not among my favorites, I still found something to like. I think Not Braveheart was my favorite story because it reminded me so much of a cat I once owned. If you love animals, especially cats, and are interested in the connection humans have with them this just might be the book for you. I recommend that you read it slowly and savor what each story has to depart because these are very personal stories shared by people who adore their feline companions.
