Getting good

I am in awe of this series! It is nothing like any other vampire/witch story...it is unique and captivating...can't wait to see what happens next

I'm quickly realizing that a downside to serialized books is that there ends up being so little added in terms of events and what not (each book only covers so many happenings in the 200 page span) that it becomes difficult to write much of a review without it sounding very repetitive.

This particular volume suffers in that both Elliot and Clara are apart and very dark and depressed because they're away from each other (so, uh, they got real codependent real quick; yee.) and we're still talking in really vague terms about what the danger that's coming is so there's not much to bite into without laying out all the events that unfold. I read the entire thing pretty easily and it was engaging enough that I'm interested in book #4 so there's that.

Also, I do want to say that books 2 and 3 have mercifully given up the random underlining of book 1 which annoyed me terribly due to their excessive useage and the fact that had no clear purpose since the author also used bolds and italics for emphasizing words.

Onward we march! 3 down 7 to go.

Both Clara and Elliott are struggling during their time apart, causing it to affect their daily lives. While they both are depressed they are determined to carry on with life.
Clara, after moping for some time, decides to create an alter eagle to get by all while learning to conquer her "nightmare" little by little.
Elliott, knowing that there are repercussions to sending Clara home, hatches a plan to prepare for an unevitable war. He is preparing in secret with Nikki, who is still basking in her lunacy, and I absolutely am here for it. All the while, he is also losing himself and becoming very cold in his ruling.
They both go on day by day like this until Clara finally cracks and can not take the separation any longer. In her angst, Clara found a way back to the vampire Earth only to be suddenly thrust back to human Earth, but this time not alone. While Clara and her guest are back to her world, we finally see Lorali. She is on the last leg of her secretive journey and has arrived at her destination. She is secretly meeting with Mathias....and it is revealed she is cursed among other secrets! What is this curse? Can it be broken?

We can't forget that in the background, we still have an unknown operating, and they have moved their search from the origination point in the US to the UK. The boss lady knows more than she is letting on. I can't help but wonder if she has nefarious intentions or not?

I am sure all of this is linked, and I can't wait to see the dots connect. Until then, I am interested to see how things will unfold because it is sure to be nothing less than chaotic.

I definitely didn't love this book as much as I did the second. It almost went back to the same boring nothingness of Book 1. Again, I am listening to the audiobook version, and I can honestly say I dislike the way the narrator reads most of the female characters. I say most because Nikki is just perfect! She's also written perfectly and my favorite character hands down. I hope she gets a lot more air time in the upcoming books because I want her to have her own spinoff! I would have rated this book 2.5 stars just for Clara's incessant whining and the way she used Peter if not for Nikki and the epilogue. I literally said outloud, "So we're just going to gloss over the 'our son' and end the book like that?" Needless to say, I will be listening to the entire series because I'm nosy and want to know what happens, but also with the complete recognition that the quality of storytelling in each book will vary greatly.

Audio Book Review 🎧📚

This is book 3 out of 10… well maybe more if you add the newer additions from the author. Anyway this book is full of fillers, character development, and a bridge from the previous book to the next book. I appreciate that the author made this a separate book instead of adding it to the last book or the next book. I feel now the next book will finally start with the plot again. Emma has set up the perfect stage for war. 😆

I honestly think you can skim through this book and have the same perspective as if you read the whole book. 3⭐️

This was a very anticipated book for me. I read the first 2 quickly. This one lacked interesting content. And it bored me to the point where I found myself skipping pages. When it finally got to the good part - poof... the book ended. Just like that. Leaving you hanging until the 4 th Book. A little disappointed. But I do love the story and characters. I wish she’d just get on with it already. I feel like I’m reading unfinished novellas.

A surprise and sudden cliffhanger ...

This instalment feels more of a filler book, readying for the upcoming action. We see how Elliot and Clara live their lives now that she is back in her world, and Elliot deals with the vampire lords. The cliffhanger at the end was sudden and unexpected, and I loved that! I wonder what Lorelei knows that can help Emilio and Clara! On to the next book.... :)

A challenge of serialized books is often a lack of substantial plot progression between installments. This volume unfortunately suffers from this. The separation of Elliot and Clara leads to a pervasive gloom, highlighting an overly dependent relationship. While the overarching threat remains vague, the story is engaging enough to maintain interest. Looking forward to seeing where the series goes next.

For the most part, continues to be okay. But it seemed to take an interesting turn with more focus on what characters were feeling. Kinda felt like too much, but I don't think it was. I think it's a bit jarring after it not being the style. Which makes this feel like we're watching the author grow. Which isn't a problem. The end was pretty good, making me curious about the next book, which is a nice change.

Doh!!

Don't know what happened to your thoughts when writing this third book. I found myself skipping so many pages because it was so boring. The only excitement was right at the end when Elliott was pulled back with Clara. I hope the next book will be a little more exciting. And that Clara is able to use her witch powers.

Harder but good

This was a harder book to read but it was good. It was darker and more negative ads each character grieved and coped. But there is hope. I am just hoping the next book in the series doesn't see the characters hardened by their grieving. I hope they get their HEA. Can't wait for the next one to come out.

Much slower than the previous books, although it could have had more impact if Clara's struggles to return to "normal" had been developed more. Darker than the previous books I felt this was mostly what kept me interested enough to read to the end. I will keep reading and hope the story picks up in the next installment,
