Terrible cover and not very memorable title. Classic Renée writing though: honest, simple, painful, witty. Explores the lives of unmarried pregnant women and the effect that having their babies taken away has on their lives for years to come.
Wanted to read the book after seeing the adaptation on TV. A Kiwi tale akin to the Magdalene Sisters in some ways, though less dramatic in many ways no less brutal for the subject matter.
I've just started the book and it's quite different to the screenplay.
