When ghost writer Lee Bartholomew finds herself between jobs, she decides to visit her cousin, Gussie, who has fled to the depths of rural Devon to recuperate from her disastrous marriage. Lee arrives to find Gussie in worse trouble than ever.
I was frustrated enough that this book and its sequel were only published in Australia and England, that I broke down and bought them used as an early Merry-Christmas-to-me gift. I'm glad that I only paid $10 for both of them. But it's been a long time since I read the previous two. And in that stretch, I think my preferences have shifted somewhat.
This one was tough to finish. The other books in the series are terrific - good characters, good writing, and good plot. This one is just a mish-mash with moments of enjoyment but overall not worth the price of the book.
