'Can I Tell You About Courage?: A Helpful Introduction for Everyone' by Liz Gulliford with illustrations by Richy K. Chandler is a story that teaches the reader about different kinds of courage.
Briony wants to have a birthday party and invite all of her classmates, but her friends don't want Briony to invite the shy new girl, and insist that they won't attend if she does. Briony, who wants to be a firefighter knows a little bit about courage, but also learns about different courage. From a young girl who overcomes her fear of large dogs, to a young cancer patient who has to have the kind of courage with no clear outcome.
I like this book full of teachable moments. It's part of a series and I like the parents guid in the back as well as the discussion points for interactive reading.

A book about courage written specifically for use with children, in terms they can understand and using situations they can relate to, is very welcome.
This illustrated book, suitable for 7+ year olds to read for themselves and/or read with an adult, follows a girl as she encounters people in her life acting with courage in situations that the reader will recognise and have no difficulty relating to, and the accompanying text helps to guide the child to think about the courage displayed in these different situation. What I particularly liked about this book was that it celebrates moral courage, eg when Briony risks her friends' disapproval by being kind to a newcomer, and vital courage, eg when one of her friends is seriously ill and bravely faces his treatment and uncertain future, as well as the more obvious physical courage, as for example the bravery shown by a firefighter.
There is a comprehensive summary of the key aspects covered and a set of questions to stimulate further discussion, making this book a valuable resource for both individual and group work.

I am reviewing this book for Liz Gulliford, Jessica Kingsley Publications, and NetGalley who gave me a copy of their book for an honest review
There’s no colour in my book which didn’t make it appeal to me. There were also not many illustrations so it wouldn’t be much use with younger children as they like to see illustrations too. Positively - it gives some good examples of courage to share with others.
