Nomad biker: a solitary life, riding from place to place.

Flux once wore the Insurgents MC patch and his territory was Colorado. Now his bottom rocker reads Nomad.

The open road is Flux's therapy and facing a 1500 pound bull in the rodeo ring is the way he blocks out the memories. One-night stands, booze and plenty of weed have done a damn good job at keeping his heart locked up.

Until he meets a sassy barrel rider.

The golden hair vixen runs rings around him faster than she rides her horse in the arena, and he can't keep away from her. For the first time since the unspeakable tragedy happened, something stirs inside him.

But he has a long iceberg of guilt that he doesn't want to get rid of. He's chosen to live with it as a reminder of what has happened. Couple that with a bunch of inner demons that don't play nice and he's nothing but a shell of who he once was.

Maggie Haves hasn't known anything except the discipline of practice. Touted as one of the best barrel riders to hit the rodeo circuit, Maggie doesn't have time for anything that will veer her off the pro rodeo trail.

Rugged, tatted and muscular Flux is a very big distraction.
Not to mention complicated beyond belief.

Flux has lived on the wild side most of his life, whereas Maggie has always played it safe. She knows the biker is danger in leather, but she's drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Something about him keeps luring her, and she's willing to take a chance on love with this imperfect man even if it destroys her.

Will Maggie be the one to show Flux that he deserves to live again ... and forgive himself, or will his demons devour her before he throws her away?

Can two unlikely people find love in the midst of so much darkness?

The Nomad Biker series are standalone romance novels. This is Flux's story. This book contains violence, abuse, strong language, and steamy/graphic sexual scenes. HEA. No cliffhangers. The book is intended for readers over the age of 18.

Chiah Wilder writes about rough, sexy men who know how to treat their women.

Always a lover of books, she began writing at a young age and continued through college with collections of short stories. Figuring she had to grow up and get a “real” job, her writing was placed on the back burner.

Her love of reading has always been center front in her life. Chiah’s love of bad boys both in and out of fiction has inspired her books. She loves an alpha male whose softer side is brought out by a passionate, spirited woman. In fiction there are no rules or boundaries, and fantasies can go as far as the characters want to take them. Steamy, romances with tough, sexy bad boys are her guilty pleasure along with brownies, cheddar cheese, and movie marathons.

Let's start off by saying that we really enjoy this author's stories as they are always pure entertainment and this story was just that.

This was a really cute story about Flux and Maggie and pretty much out of the norm for an MC themed plot and we really enjoyed the refreshing plot that was a whole lot of fun that made us laugh throughout most of the story and we love when that happen.

Maggie we loved her from the onset as she was driven,beautiful,vulnerable,sexy,smart,
had a vibrant personality and bit of a firecracker if you ask me and a take not crap kind of girl.

Flux- We loved him to from the onset of the story too.We loved the sexy cocky normad who was filled with so much darkness it broke our heart but, he also had this tender side that he keeps hidden from most and we really loved seeing that side of him emerge from the shield he had built around himself.We loved seeing his vulnerable side as well.

Flux and Maggie made the perfect couple as their chemistry was off the charts and their sexual romps were totally hot and super sexy.Flux and Maggie meet at a time where each seems to be floundering a bit a looking for a change and perhaps getting tired of the wear and tare of touring the circuit but, neither of them realizing what they were actually searching for.I think though they had been waiting for each other to come along and give them the little nudge each other needed to mix things up a bit.

We loved Maggie as she was a force to be reckoned with and she was a really strong feisty character until fate steps in and she lets us see her vulnerable side.Flux was drowning in sadness and sorrow but, Maggie was the one bright light and his very dark days.

We loved the drama and the cat and mouse game that this couple played but, when the drama becomes deadly Flux finally realizes that he almost lost the women who had turned his life upside down and made him feel again also had come to love without even laying claim to her yet.Would he ever get his chance or has that ship sailed already?

Overall all we loved the story that had tons drama, a sweet love story that was about healing and forgiveness and one returning to the fold with the ones you call your family.We love seeing what sacrifices Flux and Maggie would be willing to make in order for each of them to seek the happiness they both deserved.We love seeing this hit it and ditch it biker be brought to his knees by a mere slip of a country girl and as they say "When the fall the fall hard!"

Laughing out loud and grins!

Maggie's secret thoughts- "The biker Adonis didn’t need any help knowing he was a hot commodity."

Recommended read to those enjoying this ongoing series.

A great new series.
Flux is a nomad, living his life on his own is his choice after tragedy changed his life for ever, until he spy’s a woman who he finds hard to forget.
Maggie works on the rodeo, she loves horses and she’s a sassy barrel rider who’s pretty hard to beat. She doesn’t do relationships, doesn’t have time, just the occasional fun time. Is Maggie the women for Flux or can Flux show Maggie the real fun to be had. But there’s danger a head, will their love survive?
A different MC read but still has plenty of tension and hot action.

Great new series!

I have never read a book from Chiah Wilder that I didn’t like. This one’s no exception. Forgiveness: Nomad Biker Romance is part of a new series that revolves around an MC member who decides to go nomad because they can’t handle the day to day life of an active member. Usually it’s due to some horrific personal incident in which running and living a solitary life seems to be the only way to escape the horror they’d left behind. But we all know, you can’t run away from what’s forever embedded in your mind. Each installment will involve a nomad biker from a different MC.

Jared “Flux” Hughes has been ridin’ solo for a long time ever since an unspeakable tragedy happened to him years ago. The pain was too much to bear for him to stick around and be an active member of his MC, the Insurgents.

Maggie Haves has been on the rodeo circuit for a while now, training and working her way to becoming a national champ of barrel racing. She’s sassy and adorable and holding her own in a world that’s overflowing in male testosterone.

When the two see each other at a bar, Flux might think he’s gonna get the girl, but instead, he meets his match. Breaking his number one rule of going for anything further than a one-night stand, Flux can’t help but fall for Maggie. She’s just what he needs as she helps him find some kind of perspective of his life and perhaps find his way back to his MC.

It really is a beautiful story even though there’s plenty of violence that comes with the outlaw MC world. The writing is fantastic, the storyline is original, the main characters are genuine and likable, and just having the Insurgents AND Night Rebels (yes, both clubs! Squeeee!) appearing together is a treat in itself!! Five stars for me!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
When Flux suffers a tragic loss he decides to go Nomad and just travel but being Nomad is a lonely existence and one he feels is right for him. This life works for Flux until he meets the beautiful barrel rider Maggie Haves. She is not his usual "one and done" type of woman, she is a forever type of woman. When she is threatened and his club's business overlap with his Nomad lifestyle he realizes he might want something more but it may be something that is just out of his reach. I loved this story and I couldn't put it down. I could read Flux and Duchess's story over and over again. So good!!! MUST READ!!!!
More like 2.5 stars. The first half of the book really dragged for me and I found myself skipping a lot of pages. It picked up in the last half but didn't keep me riveted to the story.
This is a brand new series that crossover from her Insurgent MC series. This series is off to a great start. I loved this book. I got a bad boy biker that traded the MC life for rodeo life and became a nomad still connected to the Insurgents MC but I also got love, passion, friendship, a family of brothers as well as a lover in Maggie. Then on the flip side, I got heartbreak, confusion, grief, torment, nightmares, drugs and drama. Also a loser ex for Maggie. What isn't to love about a story with all of those things. I am going to say this is also a second chance romance for Flux. What a story it is. I will put out a warning there may a slight trigger her in this book. It isn't too bad but it is there.
Flux has been closed off since he left the MC and became a nomad. No one knows his story at least not all of it. Not until Maggie. It is so heartbreaking that my heart hurt for him. He goes back on the rodeo circuit when needed so he can be on the open road. Flux has been living with the torment of what happened. He relives it every day and thinks he shouldn't be happy because of that fact.
Maggie has been at this her whole life. She has trained and knows nothing but being a barrel rider. She is the best of the best. She is strong and sassy, and kind of perfect spitfire that Flux needs. She doesn't take his crap, but genuinely he is a nice guy.
This is an emotional journey for Flux. It’s so many things all at once it's hard to put into words. Mostly, I think it is Flux finding himself and forgiveness for things he may have been able to control and not control. Maggie and Flux come to an agreement. What they both don't count on is feeling. I was waiting for the shoe to drop and when it does it surely does. Maggie doesn't understand the MC life. She doesn't want to be left in the dark and when MC life comes back that is what is expected to happen. What is club business is just that.
These two together are great. They have chemistry and it is palpable. She makes Flux feel alive again for the first time. Sure he has been with women and felt nothing but Maggie is different. He feels everything. I loved that I got to read about the Insurgents again. I enjoyed them the first time around as well really enjoyed this book and look forward to more. Chiah did this book well and what a great kickoff to a new series.
Forgiveness was a great 4 star read and book one in the Nomad Biker series.
Flux is a nomad who lives on the open road in solitude. We get a glimpse into his past as the story moves forward and learn about the tragedy that changed his life forever and caused him to go nomad. Living by the motto of No strings. Casual. One and done. with women.
When he meets Maggie (Duchess) she is a challenge to him to get in bed. What he didn’t bargain for was the feelings that being with her would dredge up. There has only ever been one woman that made him feel that way.
Maggie is a very strong woman, she has to be, in the rodeo circuit. When she met Flux something about him drew her in. After their steamy night, Flux tried to withdraw but Maggie was determined to get through the tough guy attitude and get to the real man underneath.
Will she be successful? Can Flux let go of the past and move forward?
I really enjoyed Flux and Maggie, they pulled me right in with their story. We get some hot and steamy scenes. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. I look forward to reading more from this series and author.
As a huge fan of the Insurgent's series, I was stoked to read the beginning of a new series and I was not disappointed.
Living the outlaw motorcycle lifestyle comes with no guarantees; violence, mayhem and blood are a given but it's not supposed to touch their women. After experiencing a trauma so great it makes it impossible to stay in his adopted hometown of Pinewood Springs, Colorado, Flux goes nomad, living a life of solitude. Life as a bullfighter appeals to both his Texas upbringing and his constant need for danger. As for women, he definitely lives to up to the "rodeo for a night" label, no way he'll let someone close enough to get attached again. Until her... Until his "duchess" walks in all sassy and sexy.
Living the rodeo life, Maggie Haves has heard all the lines, seen the spectacle and been thrown enough she stays away from cowboys. She's a barrel racer intent on being the best and has no time for anything that takes her eyes off that goal. She didn't factor in her heart though. The nomadic bullfighter says he's only in it for fun but she's afraid he's going to ride away with her heart.
In Forgiveness, we partially trade in the Harley for the horse and it's fantastic. Loved the instant chemistry between Flux and Maggie. She's a sassy, take no shit heroine and fits our hero perfectly. She heals him and gives them both a second chance. Definitely enjoyed seeing him coming back to the brotherhood and loved seeing our guys show up. Fantastic read and great start to this new series!
Flux was a member of the Insurgents MC, until something horrifying happened to him, and he decided to go Nomad. Now he rides around the rodeo circuit, filling his sleepless nights with one night stands, booze, and weed, to keep the memories locked down, until he meets a sassy barrel rider who throws his world into chaos. There's something about Maggie that he can't keep out of his head, and they have serious chemistry, so when she proposes a hook up, he agrees, but it becomes apparent that one night won't be enough, though it messes with his head. Maggie doesn't want any relationship because she doesn't want distractions in her quest for the pro rodeo circuit, but she didn't count on Flux entering her life. Neither can stay away from the other, but will his darkness destroy her? OMG Chiah Wilder is so amazing no matter what she writes, and this new series is going to wreck me. Flux's story was so heartbreaking it was unreal, especially when his whole story came out. Thankfully, Maggie came along to be the light in his darkness, and it didn't hurt that their sexy times lit the sheets on fire. I also loved that the Insurgents came as past of the cast of secondaries, because you know, they obviously were my favorites out of all them. And there were some big twists that had me roaring colorful metaphors like any good biker worth their salt. So yeah, I love this new series so hard, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Love Chiah Wilder’s writing! I think I’ve read every book she has out and each new one is better than the last. Thank you Chiah for doing the amazing job you do!
Flux and Maggie aka as Duchess to Flux met in a bar one night, flirted and went their separate ways, until he saw her practicing her barrel racing, he was a steer wrestler in a traveling rodeo, and she was competing in the barrel racing. Flux is a Nomad in the Insurgent MC out of Pinewood Springs CO, he went Nomad after his wife and daughter were brutally murdered. Always on the move never letting anyone get to close is Flux’s way of life for the last 6 or so years. Maggie is bringing out something softer in him, he is starting to care not one and done as per his usually.
Maggie doesn’t have time for relationships, championships is all she has her mind set on. She dates but there has been no one special until Flux captures her attention and then the first night, they meet she leaves without him, she doesn’t and won’t be a one and done kind of woman, but there is something about Flux that is having her rethink her philosophy.
A quasi-relationship blooms especially after Chet a creepy guy who wants Maggie to be his and won’t take no for an answer starts stalking her, she runs to Flux and Flux’s protectiveness kicks in and things will never be the same again.
Forgiveness: Nomad Biker Romance was not my favorite book of Chiah Wilder. While I enjoyed Flux and Maggie very much this story had so many loose ends for me that I was disappointed.
Seriously, that cowboy moron Chet was only suspended for 4 months after doing a drug deal on the rodeo grounds, and nearly successful in raping Maggie with another guy???? No, I don't think so! Or the man that was head of the rodeo where all this took place pretty much turned a blind eye to the other guy that was doing the drug deals to dope his bulls for better performance when animal doping is specifically against the rules on the rodeo circuit!
The huge and brutal fight with the Insurgents and the rival club who were selling drugs in Insurgent territory. What happened? It only ended because the police showed up, and all the MC members vanished, but did the Insurgents do anything further to this club.
If Flux wanted to be back in his MC why didn't he introduce Maggie to all of them?
Just too many loose end in this story. I did love Maggie and Flux's back and forth dialog. Some of it was very hot, but some was fun, and other was just plan tragically heartbreaking regarding Flux's wife Alisha and daughter Emily's murders!
All in all it was a good read, but had a few holes in it for me!
Being in an MC is about love loyalty and respect. But when the lives your life life are ripped away so violently, What do you do??? Go Nomad. Flux asked to step down and find is wings on the road again and to continue the feel of lost day after day. As he deserved for not protecting his family. While on the road he hooked up with the Rodeo and was a bull wrestler. One of the deadliest dangerous things to do. But fueled with lost anguish he didn’t care once the adrenaline came out. He drank like a fish and smoke his joints without a care in the world along with all his one and done. Life was lonely but necessary for him. Until a beautiful woman caught his eye and DONE he was. Without even knowing each other and that they both were in the Rodeo a drink and dances sealed them together. Maggie or as Flux calls her Duchess. Was a barrel racer and in her prime to reach the Pros and wasn’t going to lose her chance. While Flux and Maggie hooked up, she found out her ex had serious delusions about their future and began stalking her. Will Flux save the day? What will see witness to bring Flux back to the MC? And will the agreement they made with each other be broken? Well enjoy the ride and grab your copy.
I have to first say I'm huge fan of Mrs. Wilder. She is one of my go-to, reread MC author's. I was super excited to see that she had a brand new MC series coming out. As soon as this book landed on my kindle I devoured it and couldn't seem to put it down.
Flux is a man who used to be a member of the Insurgents. But after the lost of his family he goes nomad trying to run from his demons. He spends his time working on the rodeo circut. I really liked Flux's character. My heart broke for everything he had been through.
I really enjoyed Maggie's character. She was sweet, sassy, smart, independent. I thought that she was the perfect match for Flux.
I really enjoyed the start to this new series. But I will admit that there were a few thing's that bugged me in this story. One we never got Flux's real name. The second, besides the description of Maggie, we never got a description of Flux. I also felt like there was no big wow moment until the end of the book. And than it was kind of there and than it was just kind of over.
I'm giving this book 4 Stars out of 5!!!!
What happens?
Flux is on a nomad journey trying to get over the tragedy in his life. Maggie Haves is the beautiful barrell rider who is trying to break into the professional circle and out of the amateur leagues.
Flux knows he should leave Maggie alone but can't forget her and has to step in to defend her from her ex who won't leave well alone.
Final thoughts
This was a nice read. I'm not convinced this is a series I'll continue because I didn't really enjoy the way its written. I didn't connect to Flux for ages and its written honestly a little depressing and sad, I guess so when they fall for each other its like sunshine but I just had the cloud stuck to me and the sunshine didn't come through very well.
Aside from that, it is a nice romance between them and its a nice back story just not one of my favourite biker books recently.
This was about Flux and Maggie (aka Duchess).
Flux was a member of the Insurgents Motorcycle club but his wife and daughter were murdered when he was away and he struggled to recover. He left the MC with their blessing and became a nomad working odd jobs. His most recent job was in a rodeo. When he wasn't at the rodeo he was trying to drink away the pain of the memories of seeing his wife lying there.
Maggie is a beautiful barrel racer that gets taken in by Flux. He is quite the enigma. One minute he's all bad biker boy and then next he's all soft when it comes to her and only her.
They hook up for one night which is off the charts and changes everything.
Unfortunately, Maggie has an "ex" named Chet who doesn't believe women should be out and about. They should be taking care of their men and that's about it. He's become quite the stalker but Maggie can't get rid of him because he's a huge rodeo draw.
This book has twists and turns and takes you on a fun ride. Flux is so tender that you can't help but fall in love with him by the end!
Flux was a rogue. The club and his brothers had been his life along with his wife and baby daughter--until he didn't have them anymore. He needed time away from his old life and left the club as an active member. Now--he worked one of the most dangerous jobs anywhere. He distracts bull while the rodeo bull riders escape the bull after being thrown. His life didn't mean much to him.
Then he met Maggie. She was gorgeous, sassy, smart, and one heck of a barrel rider. She also turned him down--a first for Flux. He didn't do relationships or even two nights with the same woman. So why couldn't he get her out of his mind?
The two are great together. Can she help him get beyond his past? She has her own problems in the form of a stalker. She's a strong independent woman. Will that be enough? As for Flux, he hears some information that he needs to get to his club. How will he react to seeing his brothers again?
I just love this author, every book she puts out I devour them. Flux decided to go Nomad when tragedy struck. Once violence touched his personal life he just couldn’t cope and the Insurgents MC stood by him while he went Nomad. Him and Maggie (Duchess to Flux) met at a bar and flirted for a while then went their separate ways. Meeting up again at the rodeo where Maggie is practicing barrel racing and Flux is participating in bull wrestling in the traveling to rodeo. Maggie doesn’t have time for relationships she’s only concentrating on the championship that is until her ex makes problems for her. All the while his home club is being threatened. Will Flux commit to Maggie? Will he go back to the Insurgents MC and try to help with them with their problems? I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!!
I am a huge fan of Chiah's Insurgent series and was stoked when I saw she had a new series starting so its safe to say that I had high expectations when diving into this book. I can say for sure that I was not disappointed in the slightest.
Flux is lost and full of heartbreak and guilt. The only way he has found to cope with it all is to go Nomad and run through booze, weed and women. He isn't looking for more than one night with a woman but Maggie is one that he can't let go of. She brings things out in him that he never expected to ever feel again and he isn't sure how to deal with it all. She heals him and brings out a side of him he never thought would ever surface again.
This book is full of drama, sexy times, heartbreak, deceit, danger and more and I freaking loved it!!! I can't wait to see what is next!
This is the first book in a new series and what an amazing introduction this is. After a horrific tragedy struck, Flux decided going nomad was a better option for him. Maggie is a barrel rider on the rodeo circuit, and when these two meet there is undeniable chemistry between them. Can Flux commit to a long term relationship, or is this the end? No spoilers; this is an absolute must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written flawless story which is raw, gritty, emotional, heartbreaking, intense, as well as heart-warming and humorous. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.
This is Maggie and Flux’s story. Flux used to be a different man he used to love being around his brothers but then tragedy struck and now he is better off alone. He was part of a MC but now he is a nomad. He also lives for facing off with bulls. But when he sees Maggie she changes everything. He wants her but she is working toward her own path and dreams that don’t include him. Can they compromise? Can she let down her guard and all him into her heart? If she does will he keep it safe or destroy it before moving on?
I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I recommend this book.
This was a really slow burner. It honestly took me until about half way through to actually get into the book, which meant it took me a lot longer to get through it! Honestly Flux and Maggie both annoyed me at first, the were drab and so hard to connect with. Eventually they found their flow and I did like them, but can categorically state that they are not favourites!! The story line held a lot of promise, but I’m not sure whether I just got lost in the too’ing and fro’ing between this couple to fully appreciate the story,
At the end of the day, the authors writing is still really good, and I loved the little glimpse of some of the other brothers near the end of the book, overall it was an okay read, but not as gripping as some of the authors other work.
Simple romance
Not the normal biker book Flux has been a nomad for several years since the murder of his wife and daughter he can't get over the guilt he feels for not being there for them he used women for his sexual pleasure and never sleeps with one twice. Maggie is a talented barrel racer on the rodeo circuit and as soon as they meet the chemistry sizzles between them they can't get enough of each other. Love takes over and changes his views he wants her for his woman, she wins a prestigious Barrel race and becomes champion he thinks he will have to let her go to further her career but she has other ideas. This is a bit disappointing as a biker book there is little club action in it, it is really just a hot romance between a biker and his woman.
