After Annihilation by Gauri Mittal is based on the year 2037 where nuclear war starts. The cover page and title look good. It creates curiosity about the story.

The main lead of the story is Madhavi living in a country named Iddis. She lost her kith and kin in a nuclear attack. The story revolves around Madhavi's life and her love interest, Aarav. The government secretly builds a city named, Shunya for war survivors. Everybody tries to find the meaning of their lives after losing everything.

The story goes on further with Madhavi and Aarav's unspoken feelings, their wrestle, and re-establishment of democracy. I like the characters of Pranav and Vishwaroopum. Both of them have their own agendas. The emotion of loss, hate, love, and fear is described well by the author. But there's a lack of suspense. I connect with Madhavi's character, and the future scenario of the Earth is incredible.

The story is simple mainly focused on a political aspect. The characters grow with time. The narration is flawless. I feel good to read something like this for a change. The characters placed perfectly by Gauri Mittal. The story has single POV and language is lucid without any grammatical errors.

I wanted to read more about the survival stage instead of politics and elections. The Earth is destroyed, the people go crazy, and the main focus was on power struggle and diplomacy disappoints me. But overall this book deserves the reader's attention. I enjoy reading this book. It's a short enthralling read. I would recommend this to newbies and sci-fi lovers.

Initially I was slightly paranoid about reading this book . But now I can it was a good decision to start . And what a start it was , I was totally in love with it, so much so that now I want to own the paperback of it .
It was set in the future where the nuclear war , and man has been down his destruction . The dystopian nature has been realistically approached.
It was a wonderful , the world formation was lively , realistic and engrossing .
The circumstances felt real and engaging and plot interesting.
The pace of the novel is neither too fast nor too slow.
The character are well defined and the relationship between them are well formed .
The protagonist show a interesting character development and it was pleasure reading that take place .
Overall it a interesting book and I would to everyone as it not only a engaging and entertaining read but it also gives a social message about the human greed and what can if a nuclear war is to take place.

This dystopian novel has lacklustre writing which isn't really worth reading, according to me. The book has a loose end which wasn't spoken of in the latter chapters; the ending is such a disappointment for the readers. The effects of a nuclear bomb are far more worse and critical than those mentioned in the book which really amazed me while reading. An Indian author writing a dystopian novel is quite rare, so we have to give some credit to Gauri Mittal for being courageous.
Romance, political instability, revenge, and survival instinct are some of the important themes we could point to in the novel. The characters here are quite interesting and have a build-up as the story progresses. I would recommend this book for beginners wanting to try reading dystopian fiction written recently.

The plot of the book is very different. It is the story of nuclear war between the countries, and what happens to the world after such massive destruction. The title itself is very intriguing. The cover depicts the end of the world and the nuclear war.

The story is based in the year 2034. It begins with a group of five friends graduating and getting placements. They are about to begin a new phase of their lives when the dreadful war happens. Madhvi, the protagonist goes for a walk one day. Following her dog, she falls in a pit and is unconscious for two days. After she wakes up she sees the mass destruction, the dreadful war, thousands of people have lost their lives. She is rescued by group AA and they leave for Shunya, an underground city built specially for this day. How their life will turn out after this massive global destruction? Will they survive? Grab your copy to get the answers.

I personally am not a fan of science fiction, but the author has described all the events with proper reasoning which helped me understand the story better. The characters are well built. The protagonist of the story Madhvi is portrayed as a very strong character. My favorite character was Aarav. The narrations are gripping and engaging.

Definitely worth a read!

After a long time I read this type of unique book. The book can lead the readers towards the future. This not only talks about war but also can make the readers realize the circumstances and the results.
The way the author described the main protagonist- Madavi, is just awesome.
Unique storytelling of the book can make the readers hooked towards the book.
The cover is subjective and beautiful.
Overall, a must read book.

What happens if there is nuclear war and everything is destroyed? We have seen many apocalypse movies which imagine this scenario. The book also deals with this.

Madhavi meets Shunya after the annihilation and the torture begins. The story is dark and depressing. It is not for faint hearted. Read it if you like apocalypse movies and books. 3/5 stars.

"After Annihilation: Would you want to survive?" by Gauri Mittal is the story of apocalyptic nuclear war between countries and how Madhavi and others survive it.

Madhvi, one evening, following her dog fell into a pit and lost her consciousness for 2 days and when she got out, what she saw was unbelievable to her eyes. There were burned bodies, skyscrapers dwindled to dust, no sign of any living life as far as she can see. She was later rescued by group AA, the group her friend Aarav used to continuously talk about.

After getting rescued, she wanted to save Aarav but the admin of group Pranav couldn't risk so many lives exposing them to radiations. They then leave for Shunya, the underground city built specially for this day. There Madhavi grt reunited with Aarav and now continues the journey of adjusting in an underground city where there is no sun or trees. Will they survive?

The plot and story of book is very different and interesting. It touches different aspects of our lives and society like politics, love, friendship etc. The narration was crisp and hooking. There wasn't a moment I felt bored or as story was dragged unnecessarily. It was perfect.

Characters were aptly written. Their development was what I really loved. Dual faces, different motives, as lovers, they were very meticulously portrayed. My favorite was Aarav. The way he tried teaching everybody about the nuclear war and how he survived. The way he helped in elections. Everything done by him was picture perfect.

The title of the book perfectly fits the story as it contains the name of group which helped in rescuing "After Annihilation" and would one really want to survive the way people were living in Shunya. Cover of the book also quite suits it as it depicts war and destruction.

I really was hooked to story till end and really enjoyed reading it. Hope you guys will too.

QOTD - Do you watch dystopia themed movies or read books on the same? Let me know your favorites.
Name of the book- After Annihilation: Would you want to survive? By Gauri Mittal
My take on the book -
Doesn't every single love start the same way, boy meets girl in the first day college and falls for her but is unable to express himself cause he is shy. So in turn he pulls her pigtails and dates other girls... But they may be they have a happily ever after overcoming lots of problems - I mean if it's a rom-com or they turn into the poster child of star crossed lovers. But that's all old news cause imagine a world without the world. Imagine the Third World War has happened and after a rainfall of nuclear weapons drop what will happen? Will you lose all hope and just give up or will you try and make life out of ashes and get up and move on.
I really liked this book. The narrative was simple and precise. It flowed smoothly and I enjoyed reading it. The characters were well formed and for a second it almost felt like watching a movie in my mind. All in all it was a true entertainer!
So I, Manali Dey, will give this book a 5 on 5 star rating.

Starting of with the blurb it makes you want to read as it's short and crisp. The cover depicts end of the world and nuclear attacks which are happening Varshi. The story starts of with the story of 5 college friends and how life takes a turn for them when they get their placements in Varshi.

I really liked the first half of the book which was described in detail and followed a sequence how it all felt like a dream within few hours everything changed for them. The first few pages where Madhavi gets into a cave and is saved due to the dog. The only survivors left Aarav, Shunya and a few others. It also makes you realise how to save the world now or else it could be our earth in few years. The story follows through and pace keeps variating.

The very vivid and live details of the events really keeps you interested in reading the book. It is a very unique concept which really thrilled me to read. Brilliantly written.

overall 4/5.

Review : A great novel. It's quite intriguing with an amazing story line. It takes us in the future and is largely based on post war scenario. The character development is fantastic; plots and subplots are adequately formed. Everything falls flawlessly at its place.

Madhavi and Aarav character stands out of all. The story is brilliantly weaved and narration is exceptional.

I recommend this to all science fiction lovers and hope to see more from the author in future.

Good read

As the book name states, the plot revolves after the nuclear war in 2034. The life of five friends, their life together is potrayed in first chapter. After the nuclear explosion, did the friends survive? How are they gonna find each other? Is survival possible?

Among the friends, Aarav is the responsible and intelligent one. Madhavi is the love of his life. How they find each other after the explosion and their survival is the plot.

An interesting science fiction book which gives the reader feels of Hollywood post war, world end movies and series.

A fast paced book with good writing. Can be read by sci-fi lovers.

THE TITLE-

The title is perfect and very apt for the book. Don't most astrophysicists now predict some "end of the line" - an end to it all? Not just the death of things, but the annihilation of everything. Some great contraction, or collapse. Or, perhaps, some vast dissipation into eternal emptiness. Maybe it's all swallowed up by an immense black hole, which then swallows itself. But, whatever the case, their extinction is inevitable and absolute. So complete as to erase any and all evidence that this reality - this existence - ever took place. So complete that, perhaps, for all intents and purposes, it never really did. The author perfectly plots the title with respect to the backdrop, making the script feel like When the sky explodes, trees will be left standing on their head, and you shall marvel at the color of their sorrow as you gaze up at the sky above.

REVIEW OF THE BOOK-

It is said that Each cell within its atom is a raw, formless idea that exists beyond mortality. It is the wild state constantly creating your world, the one word in a collective equation that is you becoming written from nothing into something — and so it knows, ultimately, annihilation is an essential instrument of becoming new to all that can be known. The plot is not only composed of pieces of science fictions, but events beyond it. Imagine you’re a fish, swimming in a pond. You can move forward and back, side to side, but never up out of the water. If someone were standing beside the pond, watching you, you’d have no idea they were there. To you, that little pond is an entire universe. Now imagine that someone reaches down and lifts you out of the pond. You see that what you thought was the entire world is only a small pool. You see other ponds. Trees. The sky above. You realize you’re a part of a much larger and more mysterious reality than you had ever dreamed of.
The characters Madhvi and Aarav were brilliantly expressed. One of the things I've always liked about science fiction is the way it makes you think about things, and look at things from angles you'd never have thought about before.
As an epilogue I would lime to mention that the future is unwritten. there are best case scenarios. There are worst-case scenarios. Both of them are great fun to write about if you' re a science fiction novelist, but neither of them ever happens in the real world. What happens in the real world is always a sideways-case scenario. World-changing marvels to us, are only wallpaper to our children.
Do order the book from https://www.amazon.in/After-Annihilat...

Review:
I read this book when India did Air Stike on Pakistan, and in the bottom of our hearts we have the fear of war. At this time when I was reading AA, at every page it was giving me goosebumps. The story has all the engaging factors in it, but what amazed me the most are:
1. Unimaginable after effects of a nuclear war
2. How to safeguard people and precautionary measures could be taken are so clearly being explained by the author.
3. Though it is future imaginary incident, but the author has explained it with so much clarity
4. I enjoyed the planning of the underground city and how things were implemented, and how people still could fight for powerwhen their lives were at stake.
Overal its a truly engaging story, that shivers you with the aftermath of wars.

To command control over oil trade, in the year 2034, various countries formed allies against various countries. At the end a war ensued. This time a nuclear war. But the men in power didn't expected this amount of destruction. Human race came is on the verge of extinction. Earth became poisonous. Air and water became toxic.
Madhavi by luck got saved. Soon she meets more survivor and together they proceeds towards Shunya-underground camp for survivors. But is it the end of apocalypse or the start of a new? What about her friends and family? What about Aarav whom she loved but was never able to express her feelings?

Review-
Nuclear war is no secret. Seeing the politicians hungry for power I also doubt it is gonna happen sooner rather than later. Author has very well described the situations of the real world.

After effects of Nuclear war are creepy and gruesome but it is somewhat an unforeseen reality. I like how vividly author has described such scenes.

Emotionally I was somewhat frustrated that it took the main characters so long to understand their feelings. But the post apocalypse mental health and trauma is very well described.

Language is very simple and easy to understand. Several countries name was quite confusing and thus I just couldn't understand who was with whom and against whom.

Story is very unique and I have not read about such topic before. I was really terrified by knowing what if it happens in near future. Author has cover all the aspects of a perfect story. Proper characterization, unique plot, emotional connectivity and politics. I just felt that towards the end the story was quite dull.

If you want to read a good future fiction related to politics and after effects of war, then you should definitely grab this one.

A post-apocalyptic novel and a war and survival fiction.

Review-

Been a year since I touched any kind of war based thriller book and I'm glad that when I chose to come back to reading thriller based novels, this book has been a perfect start. This book is a result of complete hardwork and books like this by Indian Authors are really rate these days. Author has shown a completely different world by taking the readers 15 years ahead of time and making every reader believe that even such kind of wars may someday exist.

From the title, to the end of the book the Author has used rich vocabulary and grammar. Author has maintained perfection throughout the book and this is the main plus point. All a reader needs is a book which could grab his/her attention and this book is one such perfect example. Not much would be interested in such war based tales but if you could just try reading the first few pages of this book, maybe you will find yourself turning the last page of the book within few hours. A true page turner.

After Annihilation by Gauri Mittal is such an edge of seat thrilling read. I have been reading science fiction this year, but this one stands apart.

The story takes us to future time of 15 years ahead where a group of friends who have just completed their engineering gets jobs in different cities of Iddis, hoping for a good life ahead.
But then Nuclear war begins and it brings destruction along with itself, but the protagonist of the story Madhavi survives and finds a place in Shunya, where she stays with other with other survivors of the war.

But where is Shunya, is it a good enough place to live or even is it good enough to survive? You will get to know the answers by reading the novel.

The title really suits the plot as the story is based on post-war situation, hats-off to the author for creating a master piece with the brilliance of her imagination.
Reading this novel made me realise the efforts that author has put into it, narration is absolutely free-flowing with terrific vocabulary and grammer.

The plot has other elements and themes to add to it such as emotions, struggles, love, friendship and sacrifices which makes it gripping to read. The story is strong enough to bring tears to the eyes and feel attached to it.

Characters are very well developed as each and every character is very well conveyed and especially that of Madhavi and Aarav.

The plot makes us think that how easily we underestimate nature and harm it in many ways, without realising the importance of it. I really liked how in the climax author has written the feeling of experiencing the nature into words.

So this is something really Out of the box story that I have read in recent times.

The cover showing an image of an explosion typically a nuclear explosion as resemblance to the title. The title "After Annihilation: Would you want to survive?" gives the readers an idea of the genre of the book to be kind of a science - fiction one and it turned out to be one.

The book takes you to the future , 2034 to be exact , having Madhvi as a main character , who is a B. Tech Graduate , there comes a apocalyptic tragedy which brings a major impact in the her. A nuclear war brakes out. Madhvi somehow survives the hazardous nuclear war and she along with Aarav lands in the city of Shunya where the chances of survival are pretty slim due to the nonavailability of basic resources . The plot brings out twist and turns here where the question of would you survive to would you want to survive.
The book is not merely a science fiction , it has all the ingredients of a perfect plot which gives importance to relationship , friendship .

The language used in the book is simple and easy to understand which even though has some new words for readers to ponder. Narration of the plot is done with great care and therefore I noticed that the story is structured well. The pace of the story-line is maintained and creates some curiosity in the minds of the readers.

The characters support each other perfectly. The plot is narrated beautifully as it contains a blend of a nice novel as it does describe the act of human survival , psychology too

I find both thriller and science fiction as interesting genres but it is hard to find some good books in these categories. Either the story gets too complicated or the things are too simple and the story does not seem interesting at all. This book is a combination of both these genres and was an interesting one to read. I give it 4 stars out of 5 and here is my review of it.

It is a fast-paced story that revolves around Madhavi and the plot is set up in the year 2034. She has 4 more friends who are out of engineering college and end up getting jobs in different places which makes the move away from each other. As you expect in science fiction and future-based stories, this book also has a plot of a threat to mankind where the entire human race might come to an end. But what will happen in reality? How does Madhavi deal with all this? How do things come to an end? All these and many more questions will be answered when you read this book with full attention.

The narration is fast which is good for this story. If it had been slow, it would have been a boring story. The cover is good and is apt for the story. But I believe, using black colour scheme would have made it better. The plot is great. However, the title did not appeal me much. Yes, it is catchy, but seems incomplete.

Title- 3 / 5
Narration- 4 / 5
Cover 4 / 5
Plot- 4 / 5
Overall- 4 / 5

“Survival of the fittest” goes the phase from Darwin’s evolution theory. After Annihilation is the story of one such effort for survival.

It is the year 2034, when two countries on the earth indulge in nuclear war. What remain are the rubble and few human beings. Of them is Madhavi, who escapes by sheer luck, but loses her near and dear; her family and friends. How will she survive? Is Earth still inhabitable? Can she pick up the remains of her life and start a new life? How will she able to establish contact with anybody else? Read the book!!!

The book may sound like science fiction but it is more about the survival of Madhavi. The story is peppered with science but the central plot is the way Madhavi finds her way back into life. The story is by far credible and smooth. The book relies on events, but also has a good measure of narration.

Though the narration measure is good the quality is not great and has hiccups while reading. A good editing could have helped the narration a great deal. The story does not conceal any big surprises and moves in a languid pace. The imagination is good but can be better.

Overall, a book to taste.

Okay, so this book is a Sci-fi genre based.
When i glanced at the cover and the title, i found it appealing and intriguing!
This book is set in future in which many apocalyptic / disastrous events are taking place esp. the nuclear war and how it affects the Human Civilization! Basically, it focusses on the perils of our own misconducts. The outcomes of them are so hazardous that the very existence of humans is questioned.
With no resources for survival in the third world, will the protagonist, her friend and others be able to survive the wrath ?

Directly coming to the plot, hats off to the author for such a unique and interesting plot. Haven't seen anything like this before!
The title and cover is apt to the text.
The writing style is crisp and fast paced.
Character development is what i liked the most in the book.
Narration is precise and engaging.
So aptly presented story line with 'grip-the-reader' factor.
I felt like watching a movie and i feel that it should be developed as a motion picture!
Surely recommended for Sci-fi lovers!

What a pleasure to have read such a thrilling novel! The plot takes you to future, the year 2034. It reveals the life of Madhvi who is a B. Tech Graduate and is about to enjoy the shift of life. Little did she know, an apocalyptic event will change her life. Will she be survive or just be another victim?
The cover foretells readers to hold their breath as some apocalyptic event is going to take place. Coming to the storyline, I find it quite engaging as the plot covers various themes like sci-fi, wars, apocalypse and most importantly love, friendship along with loss. The protagonist Madhvi leads her role and handles every uncertainty so well. Also, a good use of vocabulary is being done by keeping the language decently good which makes the book an apple of reader's eyes.

Conclusion : Not just a science fiction with blend of thriller, but waves of emotions which paves way to perfection.
