Fay’s life is just fine, thank you. Running the café she’d practically been raised in: Check. Her artwork in a gallery: Check. Volunteering on the library board: Check. The one thing she doesn’t need right now is a guy in her life—especially her brother’s irritating best friend from high school, so when the two men announce that they are moving home to start a ski and mountain bike shop in town, she isn’t pleased. If only she could completely forget that one kiss she and Austin shared in high school. Why does he have to upset her just-fine world? Not this time. Not if she can help it. But can she?
This was an entertaining sweet romance. Faye has issues dating back to her parents divorce and a mean girl prank back in high school that she blamed unfairly on her brother’s friend Austin. Now, she’s running her grandmother’s cafe. She has artwork due to be exhibited in the gallery next door. Things were looking good until her father comes back into town & wants to resolve their differences. Her brother & his friend Austin are moved by back to town & going into business together.
Austin is hoping to figure out what went wrong between Faye & him in high school. She’s been avoiding him anytime he comes home to visit. He just doesn’t realize how badly that incident hurt & damaged her. The chemistry is still there. Can he get her to change her mind about him?
I enjoyed Faye’s interactions with Austin & with her Uncle Jeremy. She finally realizes she has to resolve her past in order to move forward. The attraction between Faye & Austin was apparent from the beginning. I really enjoyed this story.
Romance, clean; contemporary; novella Cute light, novella, history and a past with her brother's friend. She is home, trying to keep her singleness off of her mother's radar, and keep her life quiet. Big competition with food in town, and she is in charge of coordinating it. As she and Austin run into each other more, her heart softens, and both she and he see each other in the present, and her not as the little tag along girl from the past. Beautiful, lovely fall, with two honest hearts, my favorite kind of read!
When Fay's stepbrother and his best friend move back into town to start their own business, Fay is forced to face some hard things from her past and choose to forgive and forget or live her life begrudging anyone who wants to get close to her. I really did like this book. It was a quick read and the plot line was interesting enough to keep me wanting to read more. Fay and Austin seemed initially to be two characters that wouldn't have a lot in common but the whole opposites attract idea worked really well in this book.
This was a great sweet clean book. I love Austin and how even after all this time he still likes/loves Fay. Now Fay I want to slap up the head a few times. Good Lord she held so much anger inside of anyone who has done her wrong - or thinks they have done her wrong. She and Austin could have been entirely different if she would have just talked to him from the high school incident but no she's right and no one can make her listen. Saying all of that I still enjoyed the book overall. Again I really would like to have slapped her majority of the book but Austin was redeeming enough.
I’m a sucker for sweet romance, this book fits right in line with that. I found this book to be sweet and compelling. Fay has had a lot of crap dumped on her throughout her life, some of it by people who should have been looking out for her beat interests. I live that she has found ways to love through the crap and create a positive life for herself. I also love Austin and his desire to see Fay happy.
Fay is spunky and driven and wants to avoid the painful past. Austin is still in love with Fay years later. He seems so patient as he and Fay learn to be around each other. Fay is stubborn and it takes a while for her to realize everything isn't exactly how she remembers it. This story is funny, heartfelt, easy to understand the characters, and sweet all at the same time.
A sweet romance dealing with past hurts and relationships in order to forge a future in a new relationship. The story makes you realize that holding on to past hurts is not good for you. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I loved this book. There was great depth to the characters. I loved spunky Fay and the growth she made during the book. I loved Austin's patience and perseverance. Well written!
Fay and Austin’s story is one of overcoming misunderstandings and distrust. This is a sweet romance that will keep you entertained. Perfect beach read. I was gifted this book as an arc. I voluntarily give my review. This is my honest review
