Adriel isn’t looking for love. He’d rather be writing his newest novel about vampires - a topic he’s intimately familiar with as an alpha vampire himself. Instead, he has to guard to a young human omega named Caleb, who is the target of the coven’s crazy matriarch. One wrong move and Caleb’s life will be lost - but Adriel isn’t going to let that happen.
Guarded by his vampire idol.
The last thing Caleb expected when he unwittingly walked into a den of vampires was to run into his favorite author of all time. Despite the unpleasant circumstances, Caleb is determined to make the most of the situation. After all, is there anything more romantic than being stuck in a cottage with your greatest hero?
But opposites don’t always attract. Caleb is Adriel’s number one fan, and although Adriel wants to keep him safe, he’s not interested in humans.
Especially when it involves creating a baby.
Omega's Vampire Bodyguard is a 53,000 word mpreg novel with steamy scenes and a HEA. It can be read as a standalone, but is best enjoyed in series order. It is the second book in the Tenebrae Brothers series.
Hawke is a M/M author who loves the world of MPREG and shifters. In his spare time he enjoys hiking with his dog, hanging out with his boyfriend, and playing video games.
While the storyline would usually be my cup of tea, and I often do enjoy books from this author, the writing itself in this series is pretty dismal. So much so I had to force myself to finish the books. The conversations are often stilted and not very intriguing, the majority of which felt like filler. The world-building is cliche and uninspired; and the writing itself is dry. I hate to say it, but everything about the book was a little elementary. There were also quite a few glaring grammatical errors, more frequently than could be ignored. I'm honestly surprised knowing this author's work well.
Caleb is still in trouble and is now under the guard of Ariel to protect him from the treat of Margaret, the brother's mother. In a cottage together, the two start falling for each other, although they both try to hide it. Getting pregnant was not in either of their plans. We see the birth of Lark, Pierce's and Benji's new daughter and the death of Margaret, from a different viewpoint. Maxwell the kidnapped doctor has a greater role in the story and Theo is still has a strong part in the story. An excellent book and a further look into the vampire fanmily that keeps on growing. Well worth reading as was the first book in this series.
Caleb and Adriel's book is more steamy than book one ;) It begins around the time Margaret attacked Caleb and Adriel became his "bodyguard", so we get to see that and her death from their perspective. After Caleb's heat, the two are drawn to one another. It feels a bit more organic than Pierce and Benji, and the steam is off the charts. The book ends with Caleb having the baby and sets the stage for Theo and Maxwell. I enjoy HO's storytelling style - short but entertaining - and look forward to the next book.
DNF I tried to read this, but the awkward writing allowed for very little enjoyment. The dialogue was stilted and Caleb’s inner thoughts were immature and repetitive. I know he was a young person with a sheltered life, but his actions were foolish, too. I gave up after he sneaked out to go to the store by himself and got caught by bodyguard Adriel. It was a dusty trope. Dull characters and boring writing, too bad, as the premise was good.
I enjoyed the storyline in this book better than the first but it's still a little off. I really think it boils down to them being instantly in love but not fated mates. And I do have a big issue with the fact that these guys aren't destined to be together forever because they aren't ever going to turn their mates. There were some typos/errors as well but nothing I got hung up on. I will still read the third book.
I started with this book first even though it’s the second one. I’ve got a bad habit of doing that but it always turns out just as good. This is the first vampire book that I’ve read in quite awhile and I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to read the first book now and I’m really excited for Theos book!
This was a good well written book 2 in this series. I love Adriel; underneath that icy cold demeanor was a heart that needed love. Caleb was okay, but a little too young and immature for my liking. I can't wait to see book 3.
I loved how Adriel was slowly open up to Caleb and finally he can admitted his love for him. What I like about this book is both of them took time to making love not right away jumping to do the deed.
