I took advantage of someone thinning their birding library out to finally get a copy of this book. It's exactly what you might expect if you know the back story, a description of a British year listing attempt by the author and the controversies relating to interactions with other year listers. It's not badly written, though it is a little clunky in places. Some proof reading would have been helpful, e.g. Barrow-in-Furnace in Lancashire is actually Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria. Overall it was a pleasant enough diversion for a few hours but I didn't really feel I understood the motivation involved as well as I did in other books about year listing from other countries.
