Zogonia: Slice of Death

Rate this book
Join the adventuring rogue Kev and his companions Domato and Dindil as they greedily explore Tony Moseley's treacherous and hilarious world of Zogonia Delve dungeons filled with ravenous beasts, deadly traps, and even deadlier companions in this side-splitting collection of one of Dragon magazine's most popular cartoons Zogonia: Slice of Death contains 64 pages of comic strips, old and new, collected from the pages of Dragon. It also features an introduction by Tony Moseley revealing the artist's overview of the series.

"Simply put, I absolutely adore Zogonia. Tony Moseley's world is warped and crazed and insanely hilarious. Sadly, it reminds me of my actual roleplaying group far more than it should." - John Kovalic, Dork Tower

"Tony Moseley's Zogonia eloquently and hilariously communicates why Game Masters are often tempted to kill every single player character... then relent, realizing that nobody would learn anything from the experience anyway." - Aaron Williams, Nodwick

"Zogonia is hilarious. I used to think there were only two ways to be funny about D&D - horrible puns and nerdy rules observations. Neither works too well. Tony Moseley reminds us that the old favorites like psychopathic greed and treachery are comedy gold. Zogonia's Kev should be counted alongside Ren Hoek, Daffy Duck, and Moe Szyslak as one of comedy's great craven bastards. Murder CAN be fun." - Kyle Hunter, Downer

A fun collection of comics from Dragon (and Dungeon) magazines, featuring a dysfunctional trio of adventurers. The interesting thing about Zogonia is that, rather than featuring idealized heroes, we instead get the sort of oddball characters you might actually see at a typical D&D table. Be warned, there are a few instances of dated, not-so-PC humor, but I also laughed out loud at certain other strips, so I think it balances out.

The backup strip, Mt. Zogon, is cute too, basically a compressed version of Zogonia proper. (It does contain one of the most un-PC jokes, however.) (B+)

Hysterical! Some of the best fantasy gaming comics I've read. Follow along on the misadventures of Damato and his delvers: the ever dying dwarf Dindle and the amoral trapsmith (thief) Kev. This collection also has some great notes from the creator as well as some strips from the companion piece Mt. Zogon. You have to love a psychotic druid.
