What is an exiled druid to do when their order is destroyed by a rising tide of darkness? 1. Seize magical power. 2. Get Rich. 3. Gather a harem of beautiful women 4. Revenge, sweet sweet revenge.
This novel is space fantasy. Real physics are ignored, spells are slung. There is also violence, sex, and other things people might enjoy.
Interesting and extremely fast-paced, with great characters, and a good plot to see them in. A smidgeon slower would help deepen the characters more though, and that would be welcome because the characters have great potential. The story is set in an environment combining magic and technology in great ways, plays loose with ethics and accountability, yet gives us pretty likable characters. Mostly.
There are some jarring moments (like thoughtlessly killing thousands of people during a heist) but as a good series’ first book rapidly trying to get us into the dungeon crawl characters and their world, I’m willing to waive a few things (especially if the story is engaging, and this is). Definitely worth reading, and I’m looking forward to the next book.
This was a really well put together story. Sure, there was stuff I could nitpick, but it flowed really well. The characters meshed. Things felt like they were paced at a good level that kept me engaged. All in all, recommend this wholeheartedly.
This is a super interesting story with great characters. Not a lot of building up front and this is my first work by this author so maybe I missed the universe building but I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys lite harem but also unconventional “hero’s”
Of sci-fi and fantasy. I liked the Centauri Bliss series a bit more, though. Grant writes a great story of fast paced action with bits of sex thrown in. I’ll keep reading his books for sure!
