I'm not sure this genre is for me. I'm ok with the shape shifting, I'm even ok with the steam, I just need more plot. Actually in the romances I read, a lot of the time I just skim through the steam even though I do think the book is better with it included. I guess I just need to know it's there. After a while, a lot of it just reads "blah blah blah" to me. The problem is, I just haven't found a lot out there that has the alpha male or shape shifting thing without being an erotic genre. So if anyone knows any, LET ME KNOW PLEASE!!!

Sex scenes for good but I really don't think i like the premises of this book. Being made to share your wives for the good of a people. It is too hard to imagine going along with that. I didn't really want to finish this book. It really didn't much sense to me as a plot when all they had to so was dispose the current leader. Maybe I am too pragmatic.

Lunewulf Law begins with the very flirty banter between Nik and Sophie, a couple who shift into wolves. They live in a small community in Canada and the whole pack is getting ready to run together. Everything seems to be heading in the right direction of Nik claiming Sophie and putting an end to their sexy flirting.

But disaster ensues. Humans, who somehow managed to come onto Lunewulf land, begin to fire into the pack as they run, killing over 30 single females. Retaliation or a reason as to why the shooting happened is never explored - but when there's a promise of a ménage in a book, I tend not to ask too many plot questions. LOL :)

Due to the unfortunate events, the pack leader, who is also Sophie's Grandmother, dictates that the few remaining single pack females must be mated to 3 males and bear their cubs to ensure the continuity of their race - if either the female or the males refuse to the mating, then the males will be put to death.

This causes an uproar in the pack as some Lunewulf don't agree with who they are being mated with. Sophie lucks out as one of her mates is Nik. The idea of having 3 mates scares her, but with Nik leading the way, Sophie soon starts to get excited.

Not everything is going great with the other pack members though as we learn that Elsa, Sophie's littermate (which I'm guessing is sister) hates the new rule and her chosen mates. Even though one of her mates is a Lunewulf she has feelings for –Johann -- Elsa can't get over the fact he slept with her promiscuous cousin, Simone. Elsa vows to escape the first chance she gets.

Gertrude, Sophie's other littermate, gets paired up with mates she's okay with, but the only problem is that one of her mates, Matthew, had it bad for Sophie in the past. Matthew even approaches Nik and suggests a nightly swap of females. Nik doesn't go for it, but I get the feeling Matthew isn't going to let go of being with Sophie so easily.

However, there is much more to this book than just sex and there were many interesting issues thrown in the mix. For example, Sophie will inherit $1 million dollars when she's mated - a trust fund her parents left for her - but Nik states he's not interested in Sophie for her money. He's entranced by her beauty as has been after her for quite some time, even going so far as to stay away from the rest of the females to be with her.

There are also a lot of rumors going around with Grandmother's leadership. In the past, whenever someone didn't agree with her, they were either never heard from again or they encountered a fatal 'accident'. Nik, who states he has no intentions of killing Grandmother and being the new leader, goes along with the law - which by the end, he starts to get excited by also.

There is so much sexy flirting and sizzling hottt sex scenes featuring phone sex, oral sex, and quickie sex (to name a few) that whet your appetite and prepare you for the ménage scene delivered at the very end of the book. I loved the buildup to the ménage scene and I only wish there had been more detail given. In the end, Sophie's two other males leave her and Nik alone, their jobs completed. *faints* Thank goodness there is a sequel and I'm hoping to see what happens next as there are so many storylines introduced and so many possibilities to explore.

Questions I hope are answered in the sequel: Will there be a repeat session of Sophie and her mates? Will Matthew try to get Sophie to be his? Will Grandmother be challenged and killed? Will Elsa forgive her mate and resign herself to her fate or escape the pack? I can't wait to see how the series enfolds.

***It should be noted that this book is not for everyone, though. If you can't handle the author substituting the words female/girl/woman to the word b*tch, then chances are you won’t enjoy this book. By the way, if you can’t handle the word b*tch – what are you doing reading erotica in the first place? LOL***

I first read this when I found it in an anthology in one of my other books. I liked it sooo much that when I heard it had been expanded I had to get it. I loved it in the novella and found it ok as a novel. I have read some of the other reviews from here and other sites. I think people are dwelling to much of the fact that the word "bitch" is used often. Yes, it is used quite a bit. But in this story "bitch" is what is used a a title for female werewolves. When taken in that light to me I don't find it excessive or offensive. This is how this world is in this story.

As for the story it's self, for me it is ok. I found the novella much more exciting. I was hoping for greater detail into what was going on. Yes you get why the law was enacted. How everyone reacted. But to me something was still missing. The novel ended the same way the novella did. It didn't give me anything more. Which is what I was hoping for. It still left me wanting to know how they immediately worked out everything. A quick epilogy would have at least given me that with out messing with the rest of the series. Yes it gives you that they got the mating/bonding taken care of and that they followed the law. But I wanted to know that they worked out the everyday basics not just the initial mating. I got that from the novella. It left sooo much open without a hint of what was coming. Of what was coming for the sisters, Johann, Grandmother and even a complete ending for this story. I know it is a series and I have checked into it and though some of the secondary characters have books, I wonder with the way this one ended if it will answer questions that I have when this one didn't. Don't know, just not sure. I probably will get at least the next one just to see. The next book will determined whether or not I continue.

The story it's self was ok, but it left me wishing it gave more clarity in to some things, characters and an idea of where it was heading. For me something was missing.

Maybe if I hadn't read the novella I would be ok with it. I just don't know. It was ok for me. But I will give the next a try.

Meine Wertung:
2,6 von 5 Sternen

This book was a quick easy read. M/F/M trio in this book.
During a wolf run a human kills over 30 females and leaves the pact over in over populated males with lack of females. So one great mind tries to fix the problem and puts three man with one woman to a den. Needless to say this didn’t go over to well with some while others went with the new law. The only problem is after they were arranged into dens if they didn’t mate in thirty days together the males is ordered to be killed.. So this is were Nik and Sophie comes in they are both strong Lunewulf ’s and wants to keep the pack together, so they choose to obey the law and Sophie take on three mates but Nik is lead.

I like Nik and Sophie together they have know and wanted each other during High School, so they were believable to me. Nik is very controlling he wants Sophie to do whatever he says and wants with out question and she does.

The story is good, but here are my problems that I found. No one ever look in to the killings and it was never mention again, that struck me as odd anyone should want to find out how and why… I do like my stories with more romance between the trio, but I found no disrespect. I also cant see a newly non virgin being able to take on three guys with out preparation first. I also like a better closing, this one didn’t say if they stay as a trio or do the other two find a mate later. There is more books in this series so I guess one would find out later. You will also find more sex than storyline.

I was only able to give this book two stars because of Elsa. I kinda liked her. She's the only one showing normal behavior when encountering the crazy "bitch" (I'll come back to this later) they call grandma and her crazy laws: she runs and fights against them. Sophie, the main character, on the other hand is more than happy to go down without a fight. Even if the only one she wants is Nik. So why would you agree to take two more mates? Why doesn't anyone step up? It's like she doesn't have a will of her own and always follows her mate...

My inner feminist was also not very happy with how females were treated in this book. Sophie and her littermates don't get to choose their own mates and even have to mate with three! Furthermore, single "bitches" are treated like women in Medieval times: they've got nothing to say and have to be "protected". Even when they are deadly predators and more than capable of protecting themselves.
There's also the word bitch. It's used instead of the word woman. And I really didn't like reading it so much. It felt more like a cruse words and I found it very degenerating.

Therefore I had a hard time enjoying this book.

This is actually the first book in series.

The only thing Sophie Rousseau ever wanted was to be mated with Nik Alexander. They have been doing a sensual dance of flirtation for years and the time has come for Nik to claim her. An unexpected turn of events happen after an attack on the unmated females, an order for the remaining unmated females will have three mates and they have to complete the bond within 30 days or the male mates will be killed.

Nik is willing to standby the pack's orders, but Sophie's needs are first and he wants whatever happens to be special and not have her put in the middle of pack politics.

This was a strange one for me, there were elements of the story I liked a lot, as well as some not so much. You never really get to know the two other mates and one of which seems to be a bit of a lech. Where as Nik is a charmer, his love for Sophie is evident in everything he does. I am going to read the next couple in the series to see if it gets better.

It was not one of the better reads. I didn't care for the use of b**ch in the storyline. I get that it's due to the fact it's about wolves but it distracted me from the story. I think I would have preferred the use of wolf instead or anything. I think this is due to the fact that for the most part b*tch has been used as an insult for too long and I could not get past it. I could get into the story when it was not in use but I felt like the story ended to soon and with too much left open. I get there will be another story but for these characters it will be more of a secondary and I'm not really wanting to read the next one with the idea that the wording will be the same and it will be too hard for me to get into the story.

Constant use of bitch was annoying. I like swearing and rude language when it is consistent with the characters and the surroundings. In this book though, it was over the top. It felt like every other sentence had "Bitch" in it. It got to the point that I was missing plot points, looking for the next mention. (I wonder if I can do a count of how many times the word is used?...)

That aside, I just couldnt get engaged in characters. The plot had potential - pack is decimated by an attack, there aren't enough females to go around, male wolf wants to claim his female wolf before the mean pack leader forces her to mate with others.

Not bad but not highly romantic either.
I tend to go more for Dark-Hunter series... true love that's meant to be and overcomes odds facing the couple. This has much more blatant and in-your-face sexuality. It took me a little while to get thru the language but once I accepted that "b*t*h*s" and other derogatory names were not meant to demean the women I was able to get more into the story. The story was interesting and I'd like to see what happens to some of the other characters but I'm not sure if I can get over the abrupt language.

Well t first the book was confusing using the term litter mates instead of sisters/brother and den instead of home. But what was really annoying was the constant use of the word b****. I know that is what female dogs are called but at times it seemed like the b word was used almost ten times on one page. Also the use of constantly describing the smells such as lust, anger, sadness, etc was kinda strange to me I don't want to hear about that on every page, especially when the book has so many sexual situations like this one.

DNF 30%

Porny and crude, and not in a good way. The word "bitch" must appear 50 times every chapter*, including male lead's first appearance, when he grabs the female lead by the hair and says "Where do you think you're going, little bitch?" When this sort of scene happens in a book, the guy is usually not the hero.

Yes, I know it means a female canid. But its other meaning is more common, and not very nice.

[*I wasn't off by much - I did a Kindle search and it in fact appears 283 times over 236 pages.]

While the "naughty" parts we extremely well written (and flaming hot) some of the language was pretty hard to get through. I internally cringed every time one of the male characters called a woman B****. I know it was strictly benign and a "pc" term but I still felt it was used a bit much for comfortable reading. Otherwise it was a great distraction. A bit short and cut off abruptly, I'm hoping it is part of a series?

An Ellora Cave book...short on story..high on erotica....so/so on character building... this fits the mold. Pack of wolves with Grandma being the packleader.. bunch of female wolves get killed so now there is a shortage..Grandma decides that each single bitchwolf would have to mate with 3 malewolves..and so the games begin..some fighting...some sex...a pretty hot Menage e tois....

over all a so/so read...2 stars..it was ok..but bleh...the best part was the menage:)..

I did not enjoy this book at all. The word Bitch was used to much. It was the only word besides slut that they used to describe the female wolves. I couldn't get through the book quick enough just to say I finished it. I wanted to kill the grandma and then everyone else. I guess the main turn off was just the fact that when the characters spoke to each when speaking to and about a female they didnt use names. It was a major turn off. I will not read another book from this writer.

I would have given this three stars but for one huge problem. How can a situation involving human(s) shooting and killing wolves on pack territory never be addressed? Who were the killers? Were they caught and killed? Why were they there? Not addressing any of these questions is completely unacceptable.

What was I expecting to get from an Ellora's Cave book, exactly this. In short it is porn with a slight story line. The naughty scenes were definitely naughty and very steamy and that alone made this book worth the read. I dont know if I will read more in the series unless I am able to get them for free. That being said, this book is worth reading if you are trying to get your jollies off.

Pure, unadulterated trash. Without any prudery or judgement (I really don't care for them): this is porn. Eroticism is something completely different. And please, these are books, try for a meaningful plot (pretty please?)

Slow moving. Too much focus on too many characters and I disagree with the lack of action in regards to one major issue. All I'll say is Roman Senate V. Caesar.
