Early in his career as a superhero, Cyclops saved the life of a young man who pledges that he will do anything he can to repay him. A decade later, a time-traveling Cable commission him to build a device that can siphon off Phoenix Force that will resurrect Cyclops in two years, when he is killed. The device works and the hero is brought back to life but Cable keeps him out of the public eye. He demands to be released and is confronted with either helping his fellow X-Men avert a possible disaster caused by X-Man or saving the engineer's family again from a renewed threat. He chooses to save the civilian and Cable feels confident that he has made the right choice in resurrecting his father.
Credits include: COMEBACK, SHELTERED, THE FIELD (Image Comics), SECRET AVENGERS (Marvel), ROBOCOP, SONS OF ANARCHY, HELLRAISER (BOOM!) and X-FILES/TMNT: CONSPIRACY (IDW). Plus, you know, a bunch of stuff I can’t talk about yet.
Scott is back, kid Cable found a way to bring the leader back so he can rebuild the X-Men and set things right... let's just hope he can erase all the crap that's been written ever since he was killed, lol.
There's a lot of meta commentary on this annual, the character of Paul Douek is pretty much a representation of Scott's fans, and this story is basically Marvel admitting the mistake they made in killing him in the first place. I liked most of it, but Cyke is still not getting the respect he deserves from the writers, he's the freaking leader of the X-Men, the first mutant to form the team and the face of the mutant race, yet they gave him an annual for his return, that's as insulting as the way they killed him. It drives me mad the way they keep writing him as a this gigantic wrongdoer, is he a flawed character, sure, that's what makes him one of the best ones, but he never did anything wrong from a mutant leader perspective, killing professor Xavier was his only mistake, but he was under the influence of the Phoenix, just like other characters before him, so that wasn't entirely his fault, until that moment he was absolutely right in building utopia for the mutants, basically he always did what needed to be done for the mutants, Cyclops was right!
The resurrection of one of the most important mutant figures in Marvel universe - Scott Summers (Cyclops).
Basically, a young son's journey to bring his father back to life and fix the mistakes of the past. Kid Cable did everything, including assassinating his older self, bring the time-displaced X-Men back to their original timeline, and resurrecting his father, who he thought unfittingly died from the mutant-killing Inhuman Farts (Terrigen Mist).
The newly resurrected Cyclops, on the other hand, were then given a choice to either save the X-Men from his other son Nate Grey (X-Man) or save the one person who helped bring him back.
"Cyclops Was Right" fans will definitely be half-disappointed to find out that the new Cyclops is no longer the militant/revolutionary version of the X-Men leader. Personally, I still prefer Revolutionary Cyclops, but I'm really glad they brought him back. Although, I won't be surprised if some Wolvetard writer in the future will go out of his way to make Cyke look like the "bad" guy again.
This is going to be one of those issues that people are going to talk about, isn’t it? At least, it feels like it. Maybe not this issue specifically (I can see people skipping the clarification on saying it was X-Men Annual or something like that) but the events inside certainly. Then again, with the revolving door for so many of these characters, maybe not? I won’t clarify that statement, for sake of spoilers. But I’m sure any fan can guess at least part of what happened. It was a well-done issue on the whole. The characters involved are not my favorites, but they are ones I find interesting (and yes, there absolutely is a distinction between those two). I’ll be curious to see how it’s going to affect the main plot.
Cyclops is back, baby! I love this character, despite all his flaws. Admittedly, there are a lot of recent issues that I’ve missed out on, so him becoming a jerk doesn’t colour my view of him.
Better than expected. Brought Cyclops back in a manner that further both his arc and his son's. And brought closer to previous arcs. The manner may have been convoluted -- but I thought it was less convoluted than the others, also thankfully brief. The writers didn't feel the need to stretch it out, like they did with the Return of Professor X, Jean Grey, or Wolverine. One of the better comics that I've read of late.
I'm more than a little weary of characters coming back from the dead, but this was still a pretty good issue. Besides, I think we all knew it wouldn't take long for Cyclops to return; just as Wolverine did.
This was good. Artwork was great. Story made sense (as far as bring them back from the dead can). Not a massive Cyclops fan, but Marvel did wrong killing him off, especially as they did.
This book was confusing to me probably because I haven't read any Uncanny X-Men comics. Make sure you read some comics related to this before reading. It was really good though.
