About the author

Martin Handford, the man behind the mind-boggling Waldo books, began his career as a freelance illustrator specializing in drawing crowd scenes. The turning point came when he was asked to create a book showcasing his impressive talent, and the character Waldo was born—originally to provide a link between each scene. "I can't tell you how pleased I am that Waldo has taken on a life of his own," Martin Handford says. "I'd like to inspire children to open their minds to explore subjects more, to be aware of what's going on around them. I'd like them to see wonder in places that may not have occurred to them." Martin Handford lives in England.

MY THOUGHTS:

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

It’s hard to believe that this book actually (based on page count) belongs in the picture book category. I hate to admit this, but I found the search and find pages very hard at times, or maybe I’m just visually challenged. Whatever the case, this book is certainly not meant for tots. I would recommend for the very young to have mom or dad along to help out, or risk frustration and turn-off of reading.

I loved looking for Waldo. I look forward to any new books put out and find each one surprisingly different from the other. You will never truly know what to expect with each, but I promise you will have hours of fun, either shared or on your own.

I also liked the fact that Handford gave you plenty to look for in this book, keeping the reader extra busy and engaged. His art style is unique and Waldo is ever present in his familiar duds–red and white t-shirt and blue pants. Don’t forget his glasses and hat!

Even parents are getting into the books. There are over 500 differences to spot! Can you find them all?

This Where's Waldo book has so many added hidden elements that it will take great concentration and detective skills for a child to find all the things he or she needs to find. I'm just happy if I find Waldo!

A lot of new twists to the Where's Waldo books I grew up with. This books has lots to keep children busy for years. This book is a great keepsake and is timeless and will be referred to many times and be passed down generations.

The classic 1980's Where's Waldo has a 2019 update that's fun for the entire family! One of our favorite activities is sitting with our young kids while they find Waldo! I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to do a tech-free family activity!
