Admittedly, I'm not the audience for this. Still, I've enjoyed other books about anthropomorphized objects. This one, though? Not so much.

I think the sticking point for me is that this particular piece of machinery looks more like a bulldozer than a snowplow. Where I live, snowplows are basically just trucks with a shovel attachment. The fact that the little snowplow can do all kinds of other work (digging, lifting, and grading) suggests to me that he's not actually a specialized piece of machinery, so his name doesn't make much sense.

The story didn't excite me, either. Basically, even though he's got plenty to occupy him all year (since he's not actually a snowplow), he has this obsession with snow. When it finally arrives, he plows so much that he almost misses his own birthday party.

For a better book about anthropomorphized heavy machinery, check out Anna Dewdney's charming Little Excavator . It has similar themes of wanting to be part of a team (despite being little) but it doesn't devolve so far into silliness.

Little Snowplow wants to see snow so bad because that's his job, being a snowplow. He then makes lots of wishes and doesn't give up at all.

It's a cute story that teaches your kids to make a wish and don't give up on hope ☺

I was surprised. It held the kids attention through the whole thing with no wiggles. It was like the kids were waiting for snow themselves!

All through the seasons, doing other work – "digging, pulling, lifting", but the most and best thing The Little Snowplow wished for was "snow"! Cold winds arrived in fall, no snow. A nice read aloud to use when taking about having patience. Little Snowplow is a cute and likable character, and he models perseverance and hopefulness in this story. I liked the little details about ways he wished for snow throughout the year and the connection to his final birthday wish.

This was a great read with my child. Such a fun children’s book. This hardcover book is about the little snowplow who goes through winter waiting and waiting for snow, but there’s no snow in sight. Now it’s March and still no snow. On the day of his birthday, he is surprised by an unexpected gift - SNOW!
The illustrations are beautiful and fun. My child loves machines so it was fun to see them enjoy the book.

Finally on his birthday in March he gets his wish. When he gets more than he bargained for his trucker friends all give him a hand.
