This is the second and final book of the Cherry series, and I loved it. The story takes right away where the first book ended with Slate and Monroe starting a three months period relationship based on their new deal.
Their bond grows more with each passing day and she's falling hard. He too, but he's still trying to fight those feelings and is still stubborn. He's hurting her and himself.
There is more action and drama in this one. Past destroyed relationship are mended and the walls around Slate's heart start crumbling.
I loved how the story between hero and heroine was developed. Victoria knows how to write great stories. I liked also Cohen a lot in this book. He's a type. He will become Monroe's best friend and will have a central role in his brother's happiness. Simone will get the end she deserves in the end.
This was a very beautiful romance series and I really enjoyed it. The epilogue was adorable!! Loved it!
Victoria Quinn really captures how men think, act and react in Cherry Lover. Slate, hurt in the past by a woman who saw him only as a meal ticket, finds the woman of his dreams in Monroe. Unfortunately his trust issues derail the most meaningful relationship he has ever had. Monroe sees a different man , a good man, a loving man when she looks at Slate. What they must overcome, what she must help him see comes to fruition in this book. Emotional at times, funny at times, This couple is where it's at. Love this series!!
The situation with Coen and Simone reaches its boiling point and thankfully Slate stepped in when he did. Slate and Monroe have a lot to deal with between Coen's problems and their own relationship. Slate is fighting to prove that he has no heart and Monroe is fighting to prove that his every action reveals that he does. After many missteps, one major event finally cures Slate from his cranial rectal inversion.
The author does such a great job weaving this story and giving us the pièce de résistance - an epilogue set several years into the future to reveal what has happened to our major characters. It's a fantastic story (and thankfully not drawn out through several books) and it will capture your attention and keep you turning pages. I would definitely recommend reading these books.
The author graced me with a copy and I reviewed it in the hope that others will discover this amazing author(if you haven't read the Boss series or the Black series - grab them, at the moment Black Obsidian is free and it's an amazing introduction to this author)
This story takes us exactly where we expect in one sense, and then on a roller coaster in the other. We left off with Slate and Monroe truly seeming as though they are at an impasse – at a point where she’s put herself out there, and Slate just won’t give her what she needs and what she deserves. It’s painful to watch, to see such a young and strong woman put herself out there in the hopes that she can change a man who admits that he can’t be changed. Slate is powerful and sure of himself and knows that he’s so damaged that he can’t let anyone in. Good luck Monroe right?
The bulk of this story is watching them combust. Slate pushes her away and she goes on with her life. She finds a man who can compete with Slate in all categories, authority, success, money, interest. She’s trying to move on, although she’s clear with her new man about how things were with Slate and she even admits that she’s not truly moved on either. They still try to see what works and we see how things could be with Slate out of the picture.
He of course, being the alpha male that he is, can’t handle it. He’s quick to pay attention to every note about her with this new guy, keeps tabs on all that she’s doing, and eventually realizes that he can’t be without her, so he does what he did to begin with, and makes Monroe an offer that she can’t say no to. He’ll try to be what she wants, in exchange for payment as well as 3 months of her time. He’ll do what he can, but in true Slate form, he puts a time limit to things to protect himself.
From that point on, we have hope. We think that there’s a chance that things will work out and that they will have their happy ending. Even with the outside influences of watching Coen and Simone go up in smoke, that pushes them together and immediately pushes them apart.
Let’s pause here for a second and go back to Coen and Simone. We know their story is a bad one, and we get to see how it plays out. Coen is convinced that Simone is marrying him for love, Slate knows better, and Simone makes it clear that she’s out for money. There’s concern now that she will manage to get half of their business if she’s not stopped, but Coen won’t do anything. It’s not until he’s made a fool of publicly that he sees the light, but it’s too late to do anything and we get to watch that play out.
All throughout that mess, Monroe continues to be the light in Slate’s life. Giving him a reason to be happy to come home every night, to have someone to protect and care for, and some how that scares him even more. He’s not willing to admit that she’s got a place in his life and he continues push her away and even goes so far as to buy her a place to live so she can move out (even though i think he doesn’t really want that).
When Monroe can’t take any more, she walks away – AGAIN’ and the story takes a dark turn. We see interesting new allies ,and we also see some scary things happen. It’s anyone’s guess how this story will play out and each chapter from here on out gives us something new and unexpected.
While i’m bummed that there are only 2 books in this series, i’m pleased that we got an epilogue that closes out some loose ends. They are much needed given the cliff that we’re pushed off about 2/3s into the story. I hope you check this series out and enjoy it.
I read this too many years ago to be able to give it a rating.
SPOILERS ....................................................................................................... ....At least in this one he's over his virgin fetish. Instead of being a manho paying for sex with many women, he's paying for an arrangement with the heroine, three months for sex. She, of course, falls in love with him, but he has too much past trauma to consider a real relationship. So he brutally rejects her. She finds a nice, wealthy man as her next arrangement; Slate, the MMC is obsessively jealous, and makes another arrangement with her, this time he will pay off all her debts and buy her own expensive condo. But still no feelings involved for him. So this is the roller coaster relationship that they are on. Reading other reviews, it's obvious that she can sass him and point out his flaws and inconsistencies during arguments-- she's not a doormat. But she is in love, and ultimately, she forgives him for his trespasses… Eventually they have an HEA. I just can't remember if I found a believable or not. So I'm not rating it.

Slate just can't make up his mind! He knows he wants Monroe in his life... but not too close! He does love living by himself, but yet he misses her when she is not around. He has sworn off marriage or any long term relationship. Yet, he has been only with Monroe for three months now and likes how his life is flowing with her around.
Monroe can feel herself getting deeper and deeper in love with Slate. She knows this can only lead to a world of hurt. He keeps doing things behind her back to help her and although she gets mad at him, she acknowledges these are thoughtful offerings for her benefit. What can a girl do with someone like Slate?
If you thought Simone was going away, think again! That witch is back in full force and going after Coen's money! This woman is full of surprises and greed!
Loved this duet! This final installment is full of emotion and interesting twists. Definitely recommended.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
This made me cry worse than the first book. It had more angst and drama than the first and I love it. Though, Max was never mentioned again, I still would have preferred an on screen ending of Slate's previous actions. Just makes it seem like a true closure to his old ways. Sure, having a family and asking to marry her on a hospital bed is good. But, I'd still prefer it if he made a conscious action to really end it and turn a new leaf. Seems, like it would have more meaning to me, but the ending is fine as well. It was cute.
WOW, what a improvement from Book 1. I must admit this book improved so much more. I must admit, I am starting to be a fan of Victoria Quinn. This is the first series, I have read of her's. This book, had more heart and soul in it and it took you on rollercoaster of emotions. I must admit, I felt the pain of Monroe's rejection of when she wanted more in her relationship with Slate, but he pushed her away, as he was a damaged soul. He couldn't do relationships. So Monroe moved on and went to the Bar that night and meant another Billionaire (what luck this girl has) named Wyatt. Of course Slate found out and he wasn't livid with jealously. He made a deal with her, like another transaction, she leaves Wyatt and he will give their relationship a go for another 3 months and he will pay off all her debts. (This part annoyed me, she got all her loans of $650,000 paid off & she got a fully paid $5million penthouse title to her name and not once she said thank you to Slate, she gave him shit). She takes the offer and thought, he is changing and will give their relationship a go... She lives in Brooklyn and gets robbed. He ends up buying her $5million penthouse in Manhatten, where she could live securely and give it as a gift so she can find her self a real Husband and have family of her own. She doesn't want it and rather live with him. She then rejects her again. It's a lot of ups and downs and you get sucked in, you can't put the book down, you are eager to find out what happens next. I love the Epilogue of how Victoria, has ended the series, wow loved it a lot. Going to look for other books she has written. Book 1 Cherry Popper was tragic, but Book 2 Cherry Lover, does take you on ride, but it has a beautiful ending.
I thought I'd read it all until I read Victoria Quinn's Cherry Popper. There's nothing I won't see in the erotica genre. Lmaoo But I love how the cherry popper shocked me so I had to read both the Cherry Popper and Cherry Lover in quick successions.
Slate is a billionaire who loves popping cherries (that is taking girls virginities) and he's been on a cherry popping rampage thrice a week for FIVE YEARS. And if you love and read the erotica genre, you'd know that the author would have some sob/trauma story to explain his fetish and make you feel sad for him a la fifty shades of grey. If this was a book or movie set in my country, Nigeria then the only explanation would be that Slate was using the girls for some sort of money ritual especially since he's a billionaire and that's why his wealth and company keeps increasing...
After I read the synopsis and started the book, I thought it would be one of those soft reads and I was wondering why it had a second part but I was shocked at how good and interesting it was as I read on. The story has way more flesh than I thought it would and I hate how the author sold the book out to be just another smut when it can actually hold it's own.
P.S: Victoria Quinn is obviously Penelope Sky's other pen name
The h/H were likable. Was a good read and kept my interest. Four stars because at times felt repetitive. SPOILERS
Didn't understand how old was the H. He was a virgin (!!!!!) when he started 5 years relationship. Before that he went to university and after travelled for 2 years around in Europe. Then he became 5 years ONLY Chery popper... 1500 women in 5 years! LoL, that's sick! Still there was said that he had picked up girls at bars but at the same time was said repeatedly that Max arranged his interactions with the virgins. He didn't call for one week, then next week happened this and that, then weeks passed and suddenly: two weeks passed from the one month arrangement... Why virgins? He liked their crying and pain.. He liked being their good first time experience that they will never forget but at same time he was plain cruel. So how this goes together? The part that the h wasn't a moron like in most cases lately in this kind of novels was a huge plus. She was honest, selfless, clever, had self-respect. She wasn't a drama queen, was successful in her career and wasn't afraid to love and forgive. I enjoyed their happy ending.
Purchased ebook (2019) review. Listened to it via the Alexa app. Dual POV. Book 2 of the Cherry duet. Age gap MF romance. This was much shorter than the first book and I'm a bit miffed that it was broken into two books when it should've only been one. They are overpriced on their own. There were typos but not enough to distract me from the story. Content warnings: H lies under oath during his brother's divorce proceedings; attempt on H brother's life ends with H shot in the chest.
Slate and Monroe get their HEA but not before Slate's ex-girlfriend/ex-sister-in-law tries to assassinate his brother, Coen. Coen walks out of his office, his assassin hired by his ex-wife walks in, points his gun at Slate's back, Slate turns and is shot in the chest but wrestles with the gunman to protect Coen. In the end, Coen's ex-wife is no longer a threat, Coen has moved on and has his own kids, and Slate and Monroe are married with two kids of their own. JP
*1st read in 2019 *2nd "read" 03-01-23 (listened via the Alexa app; it took me 10 days to finish it) *Spice rating: 3 out of 5

although i rated both books a 3 star, i found myself continuing to read and actually enjoying my time. did i love it? no. was i crazily obsessed and cried when i finished it? no. did i enjoy the series? yes. would i recommend it? absolutely. i might’ve not loved it but maybe you could.
my main problem with the series was the main characters. don’t get me wrong, i love a hero who’s an arrogant asshole, but this guy was waaaaayyy full of himself. i also hated how he began treating the heroine like an actual prostitute🙄. though i liked the heroine at the begging she started to really fucking piss me off at the end of book one. she became so indecisive and making the stupidest decisions ever.
i loved the epilogue i thought it was really cute❤️.
like i mentioned before, this series was enjoyable for me, but it could’ve been done a lot better.
Just when Monroe has given up and decides to move on with her life. She just can't take any more. Slate however refuses to accept it. He seems to be everywhere. When Monroe needs him most, he's nowhere in sight. Slate seems to enjoy this back and forth. Well Monroe has had enough! The characters continue to be well defined and fleshed out. You'll know these characters as if you saw them at the mall. The story continues on and we aren't really sure where it will end. Ms. Quinn has crafted the perfect books for a nice cozy night with your significant other. Take turns reading it to each other. Ms. Quinn provides the heat. It's nothing like what you are expecting and it will surprise you along the way.
I found no issues.
I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it provides heat and love.
Monroe house broken in so live in slate penthouse Simone cheated days after wedding luckily slate unknowingly made them sign prenup Coen support false testimony Coen live in slate penthouse because Simone kicked him out of penthouse Coen won the trial that prenup valid Slate got Monroe townhouse like she wanted but she hurt thinking he want her gone, she left because he can’t have relationship with her Coen and Monroe plan to make slate overcome past, like Coen saying he wants Monroe and the hitting bar , slate only got jealous When slate can’t handle Monroe being with another man he went to her townhouse and said loves her Simone went missing turns out hired man to kill Coen but man mistook slate for Coen so shot slate Slate recover then asked Monroe to marry him Epilogue have two kids Coen marry to Emily have kids

Make sure you have nothing else planned because once you start this book you will not be able to put it down!! The story continues with Slate and Monroe still together but with an end date looming. But when Monroe moves in with Slate, feelings and emotions are running high. But what happens when Monroe Falls in love with a man who refuses to love? Can Slate continue to control her? Or will a line be drawn in the sand that ends the "relationship" before the get their HEA? Once again the reader is taken on an emotional ride with beautifully written characters, a story you will not be able to put down and hot sex scenes. Victoria Quinn has given her readers another masterpiece.
Quinn is an engaging romance writer. Her stories are quick reads yet detailed enough to draw you in. The titles of both books in this series help tell a good story. Monroe, the heroine, has recently finished graduate school and is working in New York city. She is smothered with school loans and past medical debt. In spite of landing a decent job, she can barely survive. She learns of a bachelor who is willing to pay an exorbitant fee in exchange for a woman's virginity. Does Monroe fit the bi!!? Could she sell herself in order to relieve some of the financial pressure? The answer isn't what you think!
Is this over already? I'm heartbroken. I loved Monroe and Slate. This book had me in tears. It played on all of my sensitive emotions. It was all about following your heart and taking chances Along with a little of Monroe putting her foot down. Lol. I finally begin to love Coen in this book. And momma Remington is hilarious and has no care in the world? Simply amazing series. The book was a page turner and I thought the ending was really good but a little rushed.
I feel like I can definitely read a story on Coen! I have to see how that turns out.
I absolutely fell in love with this series!! Slate and Monroe had fabulous chemistry and it was nice to see a female lead not be a push over! I love that she stood up for herself and never let slate take complete control! I also love how Coen helped mend the relationship after his own failed. I was definitely not expecting the huge plot twist at the end. I expected Simone to do something crazy but I never expected that!! I loved this series and was definitely sad it ended! I think Coen needs his own book now!
Wow is this over already!!! I truly enjoyed the epic love story of Monroe and Slate. Let me tell you what a emotional rollercoaster it had my emotions all over the place. One thing I will say is that I'm kinda sad that it was a quick read and a little predictable but then again I'm a total sucker for second chances at love story and this one definitely didn't disappoint. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
This is the 2nd and last book in the series. It moved a little slow for me in the beginning. Slate seemed more hardened and rude to me (again, in the beginning). I especially liked getting to know Coen better and felt that he added a lot to the story, as well as insight into Slate's past. Victoria Quinn writes strong female characters and have always loved that about her books. Monroe was feisty and didn't take sh-- from Slate, which made for lots of good banter. Overall I did enjoy the book.
The second of the Cherry series was not as good as the first. I gotta say the first half of the book kind of dragged for me. And it actually took me almost a week to finish! That's uncommon for any other Victoria Quinn book I've read so far. Once it got going, it was a pretty good read. But definitely not a page turner from start to finish like the first book. I'm glad Slate and Monroe got their HEA, and we definitely got closure! Thankfully the author didn't draw this out for 3 installments. But Victoria is still one of my favorite new authors that I've encountered just this year.
This book is great!!! I loved Monroe and Slate. Their journey is one that takes you on the roller coaster ride of your life. Their emotions just tug at your heart strings. To see Slate struggle with his demons and Monroe believe in him despite everything he throws at her. Me. Quinn sure knows how to pull you into her stories and keep you there. I could not get enough. I also loved the role his brother took in the story. I can't say enough about this story. A must read! A definite 5 stars!
I just love Victoria Quinn! This book picks up where the first book left off. Monroe gets robbed and ends up moving in with Slate, they have great chemistry and become best friends. I dont wanna put spoilers in here so I will just say, it was a roller coaster of feelings. Great enjoyable read. I was sad when the book ended. I am hoping Coen gets his own story with Slate and Monroe in the story because I cant get enough of them.
Slate needs a good ear smack! Everyone around him knows that he loves Monroe, but he won't admit it! But yet he has already broken all his rules just for her! Monroe stands up to him and tells him what it will take to keep her and won't settle for less! But will he finally admit that he loves her or will he go back to popping more cherries? If you have read any of Victoria's other books and loved them, then you will love this series too! I love all of her books so far!
Cherry lover picks up from cherry picker, can Slate and Coen fix there relationship even though he has married his brothers nemesis. Can Monroe change Slate to become in touch with his feelings or will he shut her out after his betrayal. I loved this book and continuous story to the series, sad it has finished even though it ended well, still left wanting more. Such an easy read and not wanting to put it down.
This series was actually pretty good and held my interest . Things in the second book I found off putting , the nickname “Cherry” for Monroe seemed deeming to me , what happened to Sweetheart ? I liked everything about Monroe and at times I found Slate over bearing and demanding ! He also hung on to his trust issues like he was never going to give them up . Perfect ending for Simone and a great Epilogue Regarding Slate , it took him long enough
I want more of them Please!!!!!!!!
