Fantastic book! Great timeline in the back section. This book focuses only on the Southern Indian tribes in the USA, or where they were before Removal. I found the section on the Seminoles fascinating, as well as the material on Nancy Ward, Beloved Woman of the Cherokee and a warrior in her own right. Also interesting is the section on Mary Musgrove, the "Empress of the Creeks," who was eventually given St. Catherine's Island. The maps of each state and how Indian lands were lost or clear and vivid. Well laid out. Labeled in our library as juvenile, I would assign it to high functioning readers in middle school through high school. It completely held my attention as an adult. One point in note: the author describes the sacred number 7 of the Cherokee. I had never read any of this anywhere previously. (Pre-read for teaching Georgia History; sections are required for HH; call # at DRL: J975 Brown, Virginia)
