There's been plenty of buzz about turmeric in the health community; I take it by pill supplement but would prefer to take it in food.  Thus, I picked up this book and bought a bottle of organic turmeric.  First, this author makes me feel like a fast-food fanatic (everything that can possibly be grass-fed or organic IS).  I'm not making fun; I'm impressed with this author's dedication.

I learned some clever tips from the author; using Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise (this is certainly doable as long as my husband doesn't figure this out).  The No-Mayo Deviled Eggs with Turmeric and Turmeric Buttered Mashed Potatoes sound like winners.  The 16 Beverages recipes didn't excite my taste buds at all.  The categories of turmeric-laced recipes include the following:
Beverages,
Breakfast,
Sides & Snacks,
Entrees,
Salads & Dressings (all 3 of these look like great ways to add turmeric to the diet),
Soups,
Desserts, and finally
Health.

For those interested in learning about using turmeric as whitening toothpaste, turmeric &olive oil pulling, and using (and/or making) a turmeric-ginger tincture, the last category is for you.  The only dessert that interested me was the no-bake Almond-Coconut-Turmeric Date Bars. I plan to try them soon.

The benefit, to me, was the fact that the author showed that turmeric could be successfully added to lots of foods (including while preparing meats).  Although we converted to butter years ago, Kristen Helmstetter showed me that it is just a quick step to going organic and/or grass-fed with our butter.

Did exactly what I wanted it to, which was to ... sort of poke my brain in the direction of using turmeric in more things.

(The turmeric french toast will probably be happening relatively soon.)
