Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star #2
Notes of the Heart
Their hearts were in harmony… until the music faded away. Izzy ~Since childhood, our relationship grew from a single note to a full symphony. Two years ago, when I needed him most, he went radio silent. Starting over and rearranging the lyrics with someone new just hasn’t been the same. Beckett has my trust and friendship, but not what he wants the my heart. I have a second chance at love, if only my heart can change its tune. But before it can, that old song resurfaces… Dawson ~Falling in love with my best friend was wonderful. Until I lost her as I chased my dreams. My dreams have become my reality, and I have it all, except the one thing I Izzy. Every song I perform is a reminder of what she inspired. Without her, the music that used to flow freely has died. If I can convince her to be my song, my heaven, my everything once more, then maybe I won’t feel so lost. But her heart is singing a new tune, and I may be too late. Can Dawson make Izzy see the classic anthem was better than a one hit wonder? This is part TWO of Dawson and Izzy’s story. Part ONE of their story can be read in Beats of the Heart.

Dawson and Izzy were on my mind and in my heart long after I finished the story. Their flashbacks offer insight into a pair that feels SO right together. They understand one another and have this chemistry that practically leaps off the pages. I FELT the connection.
”You are the inspiration of every song I will ever create.”
Don’t get me wrong, Beckett is a great guy, but is he the right guy for our heroine? 🤷🏻♀️ I think that Izzy needs someone who understands all of her facets. The pieces are all on the board in book two and I can’t wait to see how they’re played.
The writing is excellent. If you’ve got an apprehension on how the flashbacks play out, you won’t be disappointed. I came in unsure and left feeling like the story couldn’t have happened any other way. I was totally sucked into this world Charli created and was instantly ready to continue my journey. The prose was not only solid but words were used in a meaningful way to support a feeling or set a tone. The imagery was strong. The pace was good but of course I wanted to know more.
This story is book two and can technically be read without having read the first but I don’t recommend that. You’d miss some of the emotional set up that reinforces book two. It does end in a cliffy 💔😭 BUT I hear that we won’t have to wait long for the 3rd book, which will wrap up Dawson and Izzy’s story. 🙌🏼
Safety: No cheating. OM during separation for h. No rape or abuse.
Complimentary copy received and voluntarily reviewed.

IT’S FINALLY HERE! Y’all, I was counting down the days to get my copy of this piece of work!
Charli has done it again, sitting in my car trying to finish the book while being late to work is exactly what I’m doing right now!
I loved the build-up to this story, each chapter is in the POV of Izzy and Dawson. The flashbacks of their memories created a connection and understanding of their love. They were best friends, to lovers, to heartbreak.... and with the deep love they have for each other, will they get back together??!
I thought I would get the answer to that question until I read the ending! I NEED ANSWERS CHARLI! I’m now going to have to count down the days until the next release date! This story is filled with love, hurt, loss, old memories, and the possibility of second chances. Dawson and Izzy will have your heart once you read this story.
This is book 2 of this series and I’m going to try to wait patiently for the last installment! For all of you reading this review, I don’t recommend books a lot and this is something I recommend to you ALL. Charli deserves the acknowledgment and praise for this wonderful creation! Read this book and I promise you will add a new favorite to your reading list!!
❤️P.S Dawson is officially a forever book boyfriend of mine.❤️

July 28, 2024Spoilers❌75% in and the Hxh haven’t shared page time in the present yet? So far this whole instalment consists of flashbacks, texts, letters, emails, blogs entries, songs; I’m so irritated🤦🏼♀️ Half the time I don’t know if it’s then or now.😳. The first book was a cliffhanger so I really wanted to know wth was happening. All I’m getting is the h with her family and her bf; the H and his songs and his rock star life and them with their daily lives having nothing to do with each other in the NOW.😤 And if this nice guy OM turns into an asshole - as so often happens in these books when the H has more than his fair share of ass handed to him on a platter, but the h ends up with one lousy loser - I’ll be quitting this immediately if not sooner 🤯

Honestly I don't know where to begin…
When I read the first book 'Beats of the heart' (which you definitely need to read before this, to get the full understanding). I was gobsmacked and didn't think the second book would beat it. But my god has it! Charli B. Rose has literally smashed it out of the park! I'm in awe at how good this writer is. Both these book are just amazing and are definitely in my top 5 favourite romance books.
In this book we finally found out what kept Dawson and Izzy apart. I can't believe it was just some silly mistake, which led to massive consequences. Dawson should have tried harder! But in a way, I understood where he was coming from. We also met Izzy's new love interest Beckett! Nice guy but he's not Dawson is he! And we want Dawson and Izzy together! They belong together!!
It was so lovely to hear about Dawson and Izzy’s childhood and growing up together. I'm so excited to see where the third book in the series will go, as I need more! More of them together and too know the outcome! There was so many emotions that I felt whilst reading this book and I don’t get that often!
I'm so happy I stumbled across you! And I cannot wait for your future books! I just want them all now!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Notes Of The Heart is another incredible read! This is the second book in this series. You need to read Beats of the Heart in order to get the full experience and impact of this story.
In this book, we finally discover what kept Dawson and Izzy apart. I have to say, it wasn’t what I was expecting! I can't believe it was just some silly mistake and misunderstanding which snowballed into massive consequences. I found myself quite irritated and annoyed by Dawson in this story which utterly surprised me. I was shocked by his lack of faith and trust in Izzy and I feel he gave up too easily and should have tried a lot harder.
Though this book took an unique turn which was based mostly on past experiences and flashbacks, I felt it was necessary to really cement the bond Dawson and Izzy have. I loved the build-up to this story. Each chapter is in the POV of Izzy and Dawson. The flashbacks of their memories established a connection and understanding of their love. I absolutely adored the letters Izzy and Dawson sent to each other beginning as six year olds was so heartwarming and beautiful. I found myself completely emotional at their innocence of youth and young love. They were best friends, then lovers, finally to unexpected heartbreak and devastation. This story is filled to the brim with love, hurt, heartache, loss, past memories, and the possibility of second chances.
This book left me wondering and hopeful. It is a fantastic read and I will continue to read anything Charli B. Rose writes. Her words are pure art and she deserves every acknowledgment and praise for this wonderful creation.

Moving between past and present timeframes with points of view from both main characters, readers are treated to the second splendidly written installment in the Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star series. FYI -- most of the couple’s on-page one on one is featured in flashbacks of their past in Notes of the Heart.
The tale continues with an absorbing look into the emotional and touching childhood friendship shared between Izzy and Dawson that over time developed into first love and self-discovery before moving on to a committed relationship with a full spectrum of emotions that you’d expect – along with some unexpected surprises that will tug at your heartstrings. A lot of ground is covered in this gorgeous musical journey while the artist paints the scenes that kept me enthralled from start to finish.
His music – her art! He’s a bad boy rock-star and she’s a colorful and nerdy but beautiful artist – and together they’re fiery, fun and completely irresistible. From youngsters to young adults, they shared a special bond and showered each other with the sweetest notes and gifts. Made my heart go pitter patter. I especially loved their treehouse scenes in Izzy's backyard – and I bet you will, too.
Alas, with adulthood comes the responsibilities and cruelties of the real world. As the warning signs began to appear, their naïveté and youthful misguided confidence ultimately became their unraveling. I wanted to wrap them in a soft blankie and keep them safe. Separated by deceit, lies and secrets, the once inseparable duet suddenly faced life apart. Their connection snapped and life began to change as the notes on the scale dipped out of tune. Talk about sad and miserable – and that was just me.
When Izzy returns home, a new character enters the picture. Dr. Beckett Thomas, a young research physician develops an interest in his patient. I liked Beckett's character, but there was a little voice in my head that kept whispering that something just didn't feel right and maybe there were things he didn't fully disclose. Izzy is lonely and battling unexpected changes on two fronts in her life, along with fighting the emotional heartbreak of losing her best friend and true love. Note: There is absolutely no cheating between any of the characters while Izzy and Dawson are together.
Charli Rose gets kudos for her ability to give the secondary characters value in this story as it progressed. Often, the importance of friends is overshadowed in books. Readers don't really get a chance to know them. Rose created a lively and entertaining group that supported and meddled in both Dawson's and Izzy’s lives just like real friends do. They added the extra spice of something nice to the mixture.
A few little quirks regarding some repetitiveness that sneaked in between the dual points of view. It wasn't bad but it made me question whether or not I had just read the same thing a few pages back. And then a few weak links popped up begging for more definitive and realistic answers to communication problems between Izzy and Dawson when they were trying to reconnect. The excuses provided just weren’t cutting it and made no sense in today’s world of computers, iPhones, social media, etc. And there was little logical reason given - especially with both sets of parents living next-door to each other, along with mutual friends in and out of their lives. I’m not going to solve the problem for you – I’ll let you figure out how simple it really was and how even simpler to resolve. Other than what I’ve just mentioned, the book was in sync and had great rhythm.
The maestro once again leaves readers with an unfinished melody. Hopefully, Songs of the Heart, the third and final composition, reaches a crescendo that segues beautifully into a happily-ever-after filled with sweet harmony.

OMG THIS IS A SERIES???
When I received an Advanced Reading Copy in return for an honest review, I didn't know there was a first book to this one and I expected it to be a stand alone novel.
That was my mistake.
Nevertheless I loved this book, I loved every page, the characters, their story, the 2 POV's and the turns and twists. What I didn't expect and first disappointed me, was that the book felt like it ended in the middle of it all. I did not see that coming and was waiting to find out where Izzy and Dawson were going, what was going to happen to them, how they find their way back to each other and then bam! End of book! OMG I could've cried...
”You are the inspiration of every song I will ever create.”
Now I did my research, finally, my bad, and realised, this was book 2 and I already missed one. This book never made me feel like I had missed out on part of the story,as the flashbacks seemed to tell it all.
I loved Izzy and Dawson's story, they seem perfect for each other and now I can't wait to read book 3 but wonder if I should read book 1 first to understand it all. I am just so impatient :)
This book is definitely a page turner and kept me on my toes and if I could've, I would've binge-read it. I love Dawson, one of my new favourite book boyfriends but I just want the misunderstandings to be over and them to finally be happy together. Is that ever going to happen?
I sure hope so.... now patiently waiting for book 3!!
5 stars for entertaining the hell out of me, great read!

Another amazing read! This is the second book of the series. You need to read Beats of the Heart to get the full experience and impact of the story. I have to say I read a lot and there are probably only five authors who can make me feel the emotions of the characters so thoroughly and Charli B Rose is one of them. In Notes of the Heart we find out what really happened to keep Dawson and Izzy apart. It was a small thing to happen that snow balled to have enormous consequences. A small thing that probably got a nudge from someone. We also get the entire back story of how Dawson and Izzy met as children and then fell in love. I love all the experiences these two have. Some crushing and others wonderfully overwhelming. We also find out more about the relationship between Izzy and her new love interest. He's a great guy, but you can tell something is missing. At the end of Beats we learned something was going on with Izzy's health, the impact it has on Izzy and her relationships with Dawson and Beckett are huge. There will be a third book that I understand is the conclusion of Dawson and Izzy's story and I can't wait. Though this book was mostly past experiences, it is needed to really cement the bond Dawson and Izzy have. As a wise person once said, when the reader is invested with all aspects and experiences of the characters then the triumphs are so much sweeter. I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

After reading Beats of the Heart, I could not wait to read more and Charli delivered with so much and then some!!! In this book she gives us Izzy and Dawson’s life story, what has caused their break-up, Izzy’s sickness and Beckett. This book is full - from their first meeting at six years old, their friendship, to leaning on each other, to their love and break-up. The story flashes back and forth with present day events and the beautiful memories they hold on to. Each of them is dealing with not having the other in their life. Their love pours out throughout the pages and touched my heart in a way that they will always have a special place there. I can’t wait for the next book and praying Dawson is not to late and can win Izzy back!!!

Love hurts... in the best way.
Notes of the Heart is part two of the Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star series. I was blown away by part one, and couldn't believe it was a debut novel. Notes of the Heart is every bit as powerful as the first book. So much pleasure, and still so much pain, but a lot of my questions from part one were answered. Izzy and Dawson's story is by no means complete, and I can tell the best is yet to come. Please don't keep me waiting! 😘
I was given an advance reader copy of this book, and am voluntarily offering my honest opinion.
I loved it, so much so that I bought it, and will be ordering for my girls as well.

Great Read
This is book two in a three book series and you need to read Beats of the Heart first.
In this book you get a glimpse of Izzy and Dawson past relationship and what is going on now in their lives. I love their story and I can not wait to read the final book Songs of the Heart to find out how their story ends.
Favorite quote: Dawson ~ “Lines written here and there over the past couple years. Doomed never to become a whole song. Never to have melody, rhythm, harmony. Just another unfinished lyric from a heart too broken to find completion.”

I only take a star off for the book not being complete
I hate series ( impatient). This time I hated the playlist inserted within the body of work. Sorry, I'm sure they were perfect but I read so fast that it got in the way....bugged me.
This story had so much going back and forth in time that these song titles were too much. We have a bit of a mystery going on in this book and it'll carry forward. I just can't wait and by time next book comes it takes a bit to catch up.
But I'll wait.....

Great second book!!
Wonderful second book. So much story needed for us to continue the story!
I loved every word and I could not wait for book 3.
Dawson and Izzy are everything.
Charli does a fantastic job keeping us going and wanting to keep reading.

The second book just validated my original thoughts on the first - Miscommunication was a big deal in historical romances - I mean if the two parties didn't tell each other what was going on - no one knew and being separated by oceans or war or Romeo and Juliet like settings was very understandable - But in the 21st Century when you do not hear from the biggest rock star on the planet and he doesn't hear from you, jumping to conclusions just doesn't work for me. You know each other's parents, Izzy knows the other band members - they know her. And what should have happened two years prior is an oh BTW now??? by her Mom and Dawson's Dad?? Nope not buying it. There will be a book three and hopefully it will have more substance than taking the easy route to angst.

After reading Beats of the Heart I could not wait to get my hands on this book. Izzy and Dawson's story was truly touching. And in Notes of the Heart, Izzy and Dawson continue their emotional journey of friendship, love, and loss.
Notes of the Heart plays into a lot of backstory. Dawson and Izzy continue on their journey apart but in doing so, everything in their lives leads right back to a memory of each other. You get a glimpse into all their firsts and the love they carried with each other since childhood. This book makes you crave a friendship and love like theirs.
Along the way you also get to meet a few more characters, one of which is Izzy's new love interest, Beckett. Beckett was a great partner for Izzy, he was there in her time of need and still continued to be her rock throughout the book. You watch their relationship develop and grow but can he truly take the place of Dawson?
And yet again this story ends on a cliffhanger and leaves you wanting so much more. Will Izzy and Dawson have their happy ending or will Beckett swoop in and steal Izzy's heart.

I need more!!!😭😭😭
The second installment of Izzy and Dawson's saga is all the feels. You finally get to see their friendship and love story from their childhood to their heartbreaking separation. Now It's been 2 years since they have seperated and Izzy has someone else helping her through the tough times. I need Dawson and Izzy to be to together! I know Beckett is nice and all but he's no Dawson. This second book definitely throws you deep into their love story and you finally get why they mean so much to each other.
This book just makes you fall more and more in love with them! The characters are so well written that you come to feel that you know them in real life.
This book is the perfect successor to Beats of the Heart and makes way for the grand finale.
But now there are sooooo many new questions to be answered! I need to read the final book ASAP!

This is the first time reading a book written by Charli, and I loved it! The love story she created was masterful. You connected to both Izzy and Dawson immediately. I loved the build – up of the entire story. The story was one of best friends, to lovers, to heartbreak and you couldn’t help but feel the love for each other the entire time. This book made me want a love story just like theirs. I can’t wait til we get to finish this wonderful love story in book 3. Recommending this book and author!

🚨Spoilers🚨
This is Dawson and Izzy story continued.
This book is a lot of back story. How they met, how they became bff’s, how they evolved into more then bff’s, and how they crashed. There are a lot of books left in this series‼️ i am very worried it will take 5.5 books for them to figure it out and i will
Be tortured the whole way. 😑
I love what i am reading and i absolutely love hearing it from all these different memories but it feels like i am getting past, closer present and this min all at the same time and its a little hard to keep track sometimes. You definitely have to pay attention.
i am so damn mad at them both!! Best friend for how many years and you think the man just ghosted you!?!!! You didn’t reach out to
The band or the security team that all clear have love for her?? She just got her feeling hurt gave up then got too sick to worry about it. But even then wouldn’t you want the love of your life by your side?!?! And that bull shit with her mom with holding the new number!! She knows as well as anyone these two have been in love even if they didn’t know what it was their entire lives, if Izzy had actually died you don’t think the closest person to her in her entire life should be at her side 🤬? And then Dawson! What the actual hell!! This is someone your supposed to know better than anyone and you really believe she would run off and not tell you how she feels because though out their history she has been upfront with him so why would now suddenly be so different?!?!!! Then went two years!!! And then to find out she almost died and you didn’t go right to her or at the very least call her?? Or a text?? He has the new number now.. why wouldn’t he have called her parents?? There is so much sad dumbness here. Then he will have a opportunity to see her and it would be a perfect time to connect in a open place and he wants to bring a date?!?! Yes i am sure that will be a good impression 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. And whats with Becket? He is odd and he was her doctor which is a bit ick for me. And he seams like he is too doctor like with her one min and now he is trying to get naughty all the time and she is like ehh i guess i can be convinced to do this with you but really she could take it or leave with him and she burned a million degrees with Dawson. She knows what love is!! She knows this isn’t right she is just fooling herself. And whats with these parents.. lets see you broke our daughters heart into a thousand pieces (even if by accident, on both parts) we should totally have him come to our party and not only that but sing a special song that mother and daughter love… 🤔🤔🤔 odd and fishy at the same time‼️
I am excited to get to the next book to see what happens next!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️= very good!! Has my attention!
🌶️= there is some fun spicy moments.
🔈= made it an audiobook with speechify app.

The romance
This is hard reading to see Dawson remembering the past and Izzy not being honest with herself. The Walker adds the question who is it. I don't get why Dawson allowed Cleo such Liberties in touching. Makes you think Cleo is it but she was not with Dawson in the early days as the letters show. I hope Izzy gets it together soon and gets back to the one she really loves and can't forget. Why didn't Lilas's deception be revealed? She is a snake and I don't like her. She caused Dawson to fall and hurt two people for her own selfish reasons and Dawson hits it right on the nose. Now on to the next book. Please get them together soon the Dr needs someone who really will love him and Dawson deserves to be happy again.

Loved it!
So many emotions playing out in the second book in this series! Flashbacks to how they started showing the excitement and newness of it all. The feelings they had for each other were obvious, even when Izzy tried to move on. Her artwork, pictures, and even her childhood home carried memories of her love for Dawson. Coming face to face again brought the feelings to the surface for both of them. The stalker letters make it suspenseful too! Can’t wait to read the third book and see if they get their happy ever after!

This review is for Dawson & Izzys story in books 1-3. I’m a sucker for second chances and those who were childhood friends. It would have been impossible to not fall for Dawson! The author delivers the best qualities in this story; a sweet love, lots of angst, smoldering bedroom scenes, hurt, longing, mystery. Lots flash backs paint the picture from their childhood to share their full relationship. My only critique would be that I would prefer the story from beginning to end vs. the many flash backs. BUT, in the end I was swooning and completely happy with the ending of book 3.

Love this story
I love the way Dawson and Izzy's love is shown. My heart is wrapped up in their romance and aching for them to be together as she is with the wrong one. I hate that Lila was not exposed for what she did as she caused Dawson to break down, and remarks she did it for the band makes me sick. I hope they don't take her back. The stalker is a nice edge to the story. It will be interesting to read the next one. I so want them safely together again. I think Lila sent that video to Izzy. Well hopefully answers are in the next book.

I couldn't get enough of Izzy and Dawson every tine you think something is going to happen it dont you try to anticipate what happens next you get it wrong and it goes in a totally different Direction than you think its going to be and draws you in even more to try and guess again and hope it happen the way you want to happen with these two

What I've been waiting for
Getting more of the backstory into Izzy and Dawson's life plus how the pieces got picked up after the abrupt ending. So glad I waited until the third book came out because the cliffhanger is just about as harsh as it was for the first one. Okay time for book 3 now.

Wow
This book was so freaking good. Like I've stated on my other review this book and series is perfection. It's a perfect second chance romance. It's not really a slow burn either because each character looks back on their past and we get to read all the hot and heavy sex scenes they had while they were together. Overall a damn good book that was an amazing read!

I want to hate this book because I feel heartbroken for both Izzy and Dawson, but I just can't hate it. I absolutely loved the flashbacks and seeing their beginning. I hate that it ends on a cliffhanger. I need them back together!

Rockstar Romance
Book two in the series. Izzy and Dawson find out they did not walk away from each other by choice. Things happened and they weren't together. Will they make their way back??

Miscommunication
Izzy and Dawson’s story continues with miscommunication and not wanting to reach out to each other. This book you won’t want to put down. Will they have a second chance at love?
