Dog Lover who likes her pastries full of cream and sugar...oh...and I write some ;-)

Aside from being an author, I am also a mom to a beautiful little girl. I tell everyone I named her after my great-grandmother (because that's the mature answer), but really, I named her after my favorite princess - just so happens I got lucky and they had the same name...If I wasn't a writer, I would work on a horse ranch - I'm an animal lover (in addition to dogs, horses are at the top of my list). I wear flip-flops pretty much everywhere I go. I would rather stay awake until 5 am than get up at 5 am (years of bar tending have left their mark), if I can, I'm going to the beach AND I will always be nice to people who bring me chocolate...or coffee...if you bring me both, I'll probably love you forever.

I write the way I live, following the story wherever it may lead, always ready to start the next one. This is clearly reflected in my body of work which to date includes everything from Children's Lit to Thrillers.
I happily reside in sunny Florida (for now) with my daughter and three dogs.

What an adorable story with a healthy dose of wit to make sure you won’t be bored during the course of the book. All the characters had that sense of hilarity that made me laugh out loud many times. One of the best things about this book was that there were no actual bad characters. All characters managed to redeem themselves (other than Mila’s father). Also the fact we’ve got a half Korean main character managed to divert the book from getting lost among many other books with a somewhat similar story line.

After reading a snippet of another book of this author’s now I’m dying to read the rest of it.

So pleasantly surprised with this book! It was a BookBub recommendation and for $0.99 I thought sure why not try it. I was honestly just expecting a typical boy-meets-girl love story but I thought that Mila and Keaton were such great characters with so much depth. I loved how the author tied in their stories so well and brought in more elements of falling in love than just the physical part. I found myself rooting for them and loved their journey!

Maid of Honor, MIla has one goal and that's to make sure the bride makes it to that altar and says I do.

Best man Keaton has the goal to convince the groom to not go through with the wedding.

Keaton and Mila join forces knowing only one of them will reach their goal.

The characters are great and entertaining to read as they plan and work to reach their goals. Plenty of humor for some laugh out loud moments, romance and add in some sass with the characters and you have a fantastic read.

When I agreed to review an ARC of this book, I was woefully unprepared for how good it was going to be. I’ve never read a book by this author before and though the description was intriguing, I assumed it was going to be a run of the mill romance... it definitely is not. This book is full of so much depth with the ultimate slow burn that began to build from the very beginning. The story follows Mila, a quirky and fiesty woman who is attending the wedding of her semi-evil stepsister in Hawaii. She may not like everything about her stepsister (and she is being a total bridezilla), but Mila is there to support her. When she meets Keaton, the groom’s brother, she discovers that he is totally opposed to the wedding - and plans to make sure it never happens. The two strike up a conversation, and somehow Keaton convinces Mila to aid him in his plan to find the groom’s high school sweetheart. What follows is a hilarious, light, fast-paced and fun adventure featuring our unlikely pair as they team up on their mission.

The banter and chemistry between Keaton and Mila is so fun to read - they are 100% quirky and adorable. I loved how K.S. Thomas put a refreshing spin on the manwhore trope, because Keaton is one adorable and endearing guy who is a much better man than he likes to show the world. It’s a clean read that focuses on our couple and building up their connection, taking advantage of their forced closeness and drawing them together. Super low angst but still heartfelt, it’s the perfect rom com for someone who just wants a story about falling in love and finding that person you can share all your secrets with. I’m so glad I tried out this new-to-me author, and I will definitely be trying more of her books in the future.

Romance with insightful depth of character(s)

While there are some things about this book that annoy me, the overall appeal is worth recommending it to readers.

The bad: There are lots of rambling, wordy, chatty sentences that could do with serious trimming, and they would still capture the voice of the female protagonist. The male protagonist sometimes “sounds” similar. The author could also use training on comma use between independent clauses. There are a few typos, spelling errors, and repetitive word uses here and there. So better editing would help. I also thought the mention of a maternal friendship toward the end of the book was cheesy as it was without adequate foreshadowing. So secondary and tertiary characters need more development. The female main character isn’t described much until Keaton’s POV chapter, and it required a serious mental reimagining, so more details earlier would be better. She’s a (dyed) red-headed, Korean, Italian, Native American, American with straight or wavy hair and skin that turns pinkish, and she doesn’t need to wear a bra and wears comfy clothes.

The good: superlative insights into human behavior. The female protagonist is quite savvy about how women think, and she is brave to push forward and go with the flow. The characters’ backstories are gradually revealed, and their motives are believable. The dialog, although wordy, is fun and fresh. There are some predictable but satisfying twists at the end , and the HEA epilogue is a very fast pass, but the story is warm, genuine, and there are quite a few laugh-out-loud or snicker-inducing moments. Definitely a book that makes a person want to go on a road trip.

This is a delightful read & the title will make sense as you get into the book. I had a real lol moment there! The humour is witty, even rather sarcastic or confusing at times but good none the less if you like that sort of thing.
Mila blew me away - what an adorable kooky but lovable character she was! Also very inspiring considering all the crap she took from her father. Boy at times the whole thing was a confusing mess, not knowing what a lot of the characters were up to or their motives. Keaton didn't know what hit him when he teamed up with Mila on one of their adventures. Despite his supposed reputation he was a decent guy esp when it came to his family. As for 'Flea' what would a book do without a gay guy and all his innuendos & saves.
Well I haven't really told any of the story, just touched on the characters which were a great mix all involved in one crazy tale about a wedding in Hawaii. Sorry no spoilers from me.
Ps I loved the cover too!

Who will win this wedding war

There can only be one who wins this wedding war between Mila and Keaton. She is the maid of honor and he is the best man. However, they are on opposites of this war as Mila wants to make sure her step-sister Mika gets hitched without any issues. Meanwhile Keaton wants to get the his brother out of this whole thing as fast as he can. Add in the fact that there are sparks flying between Mila and Keaton, some good like beautiful fireworks and some bad like those that will torch down a city.

This is a really wonderfully witty and engaging rom-com which had me up late at night reading the battle of the wills between Mila and Keaton and all the added supporting characters in the wedding celebration mix. I really enjoyed The Men Write in the Sugar and would recommend it to anyone looking for a funny story about a destination wedding in Hawaii that has more than a few unexpected bumps along the way to the "I do's".

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet romance written in 3rd person Multi pov with a HEA.

I loved Keaton and Mila. They were great characters and so easy to become attached to. Keaton is trying to stop his brother from marrying Mila's step sister and finds a way to convince Mila to help him. It's not an easy task, but a HEA is obtained for everyone.

Strong story line, fantastic characters (OMG Flea was probably my favorite out of all of them) I would love to see Flea's story. I would be first in line for that one!. Good description to detail and engaging dialogue.

All in all, a fantastic read!

Jay and Sienna have a ridiculous wedding week planned in Hawaii. Step-sister Mika gets blackmailed into Maid of Honor by her sperm donor like deal making weasel of a father.

Her first encounter with members of the wedding party is a clueless one. Friend from college groomsman is the creep who hits on her in a slimy way, and she fakes not understanding English to get rid of him.

Of course the man who understands her Italian snippet acts the um douchebag was the nicest phrase she came up with. With flair and humor. Happily the brother of the groom, not the groom himself.

A story of history and family, and schemers like her bio dad who really do not understand family.

Love is a legacy not all can appreciate.

Mila has to play nice for seven days, until her sister is married. Easier said than done. Keaton has six days to get the groom to call off the wedding. If only he wasn't working against the maid of honor. I enjoyed seeing these two work together, even though they have different goals. And finding out their connection to each other is such a sweet story. Flea - OMG! He's the best brother ever. Mila's father is like Lucy with the football, and he's the only character with no redeeming social value. Stevi Incremona narrated this book, and I very much enjoyed listening to her. I really enjoyed this read / listen. Sweet as sugar and full of humor and laugh out loud moments. Our main characters are best man and maid of honor - Keaton and Mila who are on opposing forces - one is set to keep the "I do" from being said and the other is set to make the wedding a thing of dreams...they come together knowing only one will succeed. A fun and lovable romance!

What a ride! I've never read this author before but now that I just finished this one, I have purchased another one. I loved the characters, the connections, the convoluted plot and of course, the HEA at the end. I don't want to spoil the story but, wow, did things get, as Mila and Keaton would say, "Weird." Flea was a joy and I adored Mila. Mila was really good for Keaton as he was for her. So read this, enjoy the banter and immerse yourself in this story.

I'm not going to lie I picked this book to read based on the cover, I love this cover. That being said the book was just a good a read as the cover implied. Funny and silly, Keaton has one goal to stop his best friend from getting married. Mila has one goal keep the peace for the bride and get her married. When these two cross paths, look out. An entertaining read for sure.

This book was so entertaining! Paige 1 I fell in LOVE with Mila. It turns out that there is no sex in this book, and that’s sad, but whatever. This is worth your time, I promise.

Rom-com with witty dialogue, sarcasm, a to-do list for each character that certainly don't match and a lot of funny misunderstandings.

It was a good story, but I struggled with the typos. It ruined the experience for me, because it was so distracting how often they occurred. Maybe it was just the kindle version? I don't know.

Overall, though, it was a feel good story that I enjoyed.

I almost quit reading because the story line did't get going until 3 or 4 chapters in. once it picked up it was an okay read.

Triple the OMG factor for this book!

I loved it. I loved it in every way possible. I was so hooked up with it since the moment I picked up the book. This is something that does not come to me naturally. I was drawn to this book and I am grateful for it. It's difficult to not like a book when romance is shown between two people so amazingly! You can't help but fall in love with the plot, the characters, the book and the author. This book was proper bliss and had a story line which will make sure to keep me engaged with its thoughts.

This will probably be the first time that I am not disgusted that someone fell in love just in a week because every scene was so beautifully portrayed that it seemed possible. That's the thing I loved the most about this book (maybe except for the characters... I could just connect with each one of them). The fact that time has no role to play in the way you fall in love with someone if beautiful. And it's even something that didn't happen after they had a physical intimacy but rather how they were able to connect and understand each other emotionally. That's the thing that makes a romance a proper romance and the book had it all. It was cute, adorable, funny and super insightfu and sweet.

I extremely loved it!
“Like Mila’s passion for Italy. And how she discovered it in high school. Right around the time she met my mother. Who came home to tell me I should learn Italian because it might impress a girl one day.”
