I won this in a Goodreads giveaway. This is the first book I've read by the Author.
It's been a while since I've done anything like penetration testing and this book intrigued me because of it's discussion of industrial networks. The topics covered are the briefest overview of what can be done with the tools being discussed. It's a great primer for digging into the topic further or to begin playing with the tools. What I wanted was for some of the topics to be delved in to a little deeper. I did have to go online and look some things up (like I said it's been a while) and that lead me down other paths. This book would have benefited from another round of proof reading and better editing, at points it was like ramblings from a person with too little sleep and too much caffeine (which as I recall from when I did things like this is probably pretty accurate).
This book interested me so much, I purchased a hardcopy. Kubecka takes us on a journey of learning OSINT tools and techniques. She gets detailed by showing the nuances of Censys, Spiderfoot, ZMap, Maltego, and OWASP ZAP to uncover vulnerable systems. She changed the airline industry by exposing a vulnerability that allowed her to manipulate the flight controls, a reality that Boeing previously was trying to deny! From wireless printers to remote management Internet of Things (IoT) hacking, Kubecka takes us for a journey that is exhilarating and terrifying.
This was received in a goodreads give away and I should have read the description of the book before entering. It seems very technical and as though someone who is interested in OSINT could enjoy the book. I liked the memes. The technical information seems legit but I don't really know. A review by someone who knows what they are talking about should be considered before taking anything I've said into consideration.
