Charlie and Ty are at it again, trying to figure out the answer to something. The difference between this one and the first two is that this mystery wasn't so much a mystery as much as it was Charlie being incredibly nosey. The Hocus Pocus Hotel used to host a lot of magic shows in its heyday, and Ty's parents -- the owners (?) -- want to bring some of that heyday into present day. The Grand and Powerful Theopolis is creating a media frenzy for the HPH when he makes someone disappear using a wardrobe, but not with the typical 'trap-door in the floor' go-to. Charlie becomes incredibly curious to the point that he decides another mystery "needs" to be solved.

This is the first "mystery" that Charlie decides needs to be solved, while the first two were with Ty's invitation. I use quotes around that word and the one in the previous paragraph because it's completely different than the first two books. In book one, there's a missing guest. In the second one, there's allegedly a ghost. Now we have a missing person who assisted in a magic trick. Admittedly, it wasn't exactly what I thought the followup would be.

I also noticed a hole towards the end. Without giving it away, something is found out and where you'd think there'd be a reaction, Dahl didn't include one. It's almost as if the person who should've reacted just completely disappeared from the story. It didn't really fit.

That's not to say that I didn't enjoy this sequel. It has it's funny parts that made me laugh out loud. It gets 3 stars unlike it's two predecessors, though.

Okay this is the third book in the series and we really enjoyed but i will say no spoilers but the ending falls flat when there is no reaction when they figure out what really happened and what was going on. However i still enjoyed the story and award 4 stars.
