DNF @ 25%

I decided to DNF this book for a host of reasons:

- content: hero has been physically, mentally and sexually abused his entire life. It's the reason for the entire series, basically. Otherwise the hero and heroine would have never met - and he's the reason for the rest of the guys showing up. I HATE books where abuse is used as an enduring plot point. And to make a point about how bad the Bad Guy is.

BTW, the book ends with the hero being physically, mentally and sexually abused.

- cliffhangers: I hate them. This Long. Ass. book is noting but a cliffy. Pass.

- Zombies: They's acoming! And I'm sooo over the zombies. Honestly. I can't imagine why anyone would NOT be over the zombies by now. With all the books and the movies and the tv shows and whatnot. I have full on zombie un-interest. It takes a special kind of zombie to keep me from falling asleep from boredom... and this ain't that.

it seems Ms Cole has a thing for zombies. Her longest running series is a zombie serial. I DO NOT have a thing for zombies.

How I feel about zombies: They're walking. They're dead. What else do I need to know?

Thank you. Next!

I started this book very excited and immediately fell into the story. It sucked me in and it made me want to keep reading and reading. You know the feeling? When you just can't put it down and you read in between everything you are doing. This is what the start of the book did to me. This book had a compelling opening and it was well written. I loved Nathan. I felt terrible for him and what he's been forced to endure. I liked Vana too. Then I made the mistake of reading the blurb for the next book, technically, the first book in the series and I found out that
**SPOILER ALERT**

Nathan was no longer Vana's love interest and others were. That threw me into a complete tail spin. I didn't like that at all. Then I did a naughty thing and went to read the end of the next book because I was already annoyed. Turns out by the end of the next book she's mated to the other guys. Not Nathan. Let me tell you, this whole switching the heroes thing. It's not on. That is not a romance. What this author did was a complete violation of the foundations of what constitutes a romance. You do not switch heroes between books. You may add to the harem if it's a reverse harem story but no, you do not switch heroes. If you switch heroes, it's no longer a romance. So that was the end of the books for me. It completely put me off the story. I'm upset that Nathan got replaced no matter how plausible the reason and how the first book ended. I'm upset that Vana ends up mated to other men at the end of the next book. I'm upset that Nathan though there's a brief mention of him at the end is dismissed because Vana had replaced him with other mates. Maybe Nathan will come back in future books but I'm done. There's no coming back from this for me.

in order to keep his daughter safe, Nathan agrees to the demands his ex has placed on him. Raising a daughter isn't easy and when a nanny is hired things get complicated and now in order to keep both of his females safe he must break the nannies heart.

this is book 0 in the Claiming Her Mates series by the author.

I enjoyed this. It is predictable and trashy, but it kept me entertained.

But like I said, it kept me entertained. I have read books that were technically better but have failed to grip my attention half as hard as this mess. To the point I’ll probably get the other books in the series, despite all my complaints.

~ shifter, OTT JP alpha
~ fated mates
~ single dad
~ betrayal/miscommunication

☑️ gore, reference to SA, coercion, blackmail
☑️ reference to infant death
☑️ reference to pedophila/child SA

⚠️ ow drama at end, fat shaming

I loved the premise, loved the characters, but there was too much plot convenience for my practical mind. Ty, for being an Alpha, was quite the doormat to Nathan. We needed more backstory on why Nathan was under the evil Tasha’s thumb for so long other than the threats. The unexplained time jumps got confusing. There’s little excuse for the fat shaming used in this book. My highlights are over in the Collection Edition.

Plot Convenience Spoilers Ahead

1. Nathan swears to stop using compulsion after it puts Vana in danger. However, after the dozens of times they’ve already used it surely using it twice more to
A. Give Vana back her memories of all the time she spent with Ty, which was more than she’d spent with Nathan, was warranted and
B. Using compulsion at the end encounter to just have her forget for awhile instead of making Nathan hurt and betray her with Tasha would have been an easy solution.

2. Surly in the three months they were dating Nathan could have explained his world to her?

3. We don’t hear anything about Ty again. Nathan knows he loves her too but….what happened to their relationship? Ty could have spent that time building new memories.

4. There’s a council but hey just let Tasha get away with her cruelty for decades?

The things you want to know that helps make your decision on whether to read the series or not!

**This is a RH, shifters, humans, zombie apocalypse fast burn 4 complete series (including prequel "claiming the nanny"). This is a review for the complete series. **

1. Multi POV
2. Must read prequel to understand the story or get the complete collection as that & extra scenes are included
3. If you like lots of steamy sex scenes, this is the series for you
4. It is a insta connection/love type series but it is also fought & involves turmoil/anguish/heartbreak so don’t let it stop you 🙌🏻
5. Involves kids & pregnancy
6. Actual shifting occurs

This is not your typical werewolf story. One they aren’t called werewolves/shifters/lycans etc. They use a different term & a different history. The alpha females are also stronger etc than the alpha males which is cool 🙌🏻. That’s not to say you still don’t see the typical alpha maleness in the story/harem but if it were to come to a fight the alpha female would win, not that this is a good thing either. Power corrupts no matter your sex. It’s also happening around the time a zombie apocalypse is occurring, although it isn't the main focus their are still elements/scenes which is totally cool 🤣🙌🏻. I enjoyed the things that set this apart from other werewolves stories & their abilities.

ONE DELICIOUS THRILL RIDE!!!
Oh man, talk about a gut punch full of terror. This bad boy is as riveting as it is captivating and keeps you on the razors edge from start to finish. A whirlwind of emotions and events that feed the menacing threats and tangled web of enemies that draw you deeper into this raging storyline and hard hitting plot. All the mystery, fear, uncertainty, danger and suspense bring this hot number roaring to life spectacularly. The two main characters chemistry is as intense and hardcore as their will to survive. As the two main characters fight for their life they find there's more than meets the eye. Twixted and twinned and put through the wringer in a race against time and running out of luck. One non-stop action packed, hard hitting, nailbiting, page turning bombshell makes for one thrilling experience. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches, bumps and bruises bring this baby together flawlessly. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it feels like your part of the tale instead of on the sidelines. Dia never ceases to amaze me with her keen witt, eye for detail and endless imagination she totally rocks this little treasure. Remarkable job Dia, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

Possible dubcon trigger.

Fast, easy, enjoyable read with likeable characters. Characters have depth with their back stories. MC is a stripper, comfortable with her sexuality, and is kick-ass enough to not wait for rescue.

It's the start of a promising series and I like forward to reading the next book. I hope the author gives the two guys a luck in the ass for their stupid orders compelling the MC.

Next portion describes the situation I thought could be a trigger just in case. Stop reading if you don't want a spoiler.

Spoiler:
So, the MC is newly hired as a nanny. She barely knows Nathan. But, he 'compels' with alpha powers to not move. He then pulls up her skirt and pervs on her. Then he proceeds to wipe her mind if the memory. Although the author tries to portray that MC finds it exciting, I found it super creepy. I know the author doesn't mean to imply the following, but I felt like the book was sending the message that it's okay to be a sexually assaulting creepy perv if you're hot.

Wow, I don't even know where to begin. Initially I thought it'd make for an interesting story considering both Nathan and Vana's backstories.

Sadly Nathan turns out to be an arrogant, foolish and selfish asshole who repeatedly abuses his power over both his so-called best friend and brother as well as the woman he claims to like/love/care for.
I get that his situation is fucked up, but he should have either been honest with her from the start or let her go before dragging her into his mess...

I quite like Vana actually too bad she's nothing more than a puppet in this prequel.
I'll try the first one in the series, if only to see if she hopefully she gets some much needed revenge and payback.

You know when you read something and it's like ohhhhhhh so that's why. This is that book. Well it's that book if you've read Claiming Her Mates first. I do love a prequel, and strangely I love to read it after the first book in the series as it really feels like almost a behind the scenes look, and it explains a lot of things. I loved it! It has filled out Nathans character an awful lot. It also crosses over with book one in one scene which is told from a different point of view giving the ultimate ahhhhh moment. For me it is filling a gap until the second book of the series comes out, which I am excitedly waiting for.

I really enjoyed this book.

A few unhinges I liked: Havana’s fierce nature, sometimes you get a main character who claims to be independent and badass, Havana actually is! I love Mira and how important her role is in the story! I also love Ty which brings me to the things I dislike...

Havana having no memory of her time with Ty and how much she cares for him. All the times they violated her mind and consent by compelling her (I know they decide to stop doing this, but poor Ty...they stole something from the both of them).

I am off to complete the series to see Havan, Nathan AND Tyberious get their HEA

I think this was an entertaining read! I love supernatural/magical anything when it come to books and this book had a little of everything. There were parts that were slower with some character building, some parts that were sexy, and some parts that were more thriller!

There were quite a few questions throughout the read and at the end, but as this is a prequel that makes sense, and I think those who already know the world will appreciate getting to know some characters.

Adding the main series to my TBR pile for sure.

This is a shifter story not to be missed, when Vans applies for the nanny job with no qualification she is amazed when Nathan hires her. Who knew the nanny could be his mate, but with a daughter and an alpha ready to kill any female his got close to, he knew he couldn't act on his feelings, but his best friend Tyberius could by linking their minds. The only thing wrong about this is the cliffhanger, what a great read, loved it.

Holy HOT! These guys are combustible and our poor sweet nanny didn’t know what hit her. Too bad she has to keep forgetting Ty, I like him more than Nate. This was a fantastic story, perfectly written prequel and explains a hell of a lot, now I’m going to have to re-read Claiming Her Mates! I absolutely LOVED that book and foresee this being an amazing series! I also have a serious driving urge to know what happens to Ty and Mira! This was another amazingly entertaining story by Dia Cole.

Havana, or Vana has her friends call her, has had hard life. She interviews for a job as a nanny as a way to start climbing out of the hole she’s been in. Little does she know, that one innocent interview will change her entire life. Vana, Nathan and Ty each have their own secrets and none of them realize how much those secrets will affect the others. You are in for a ride and I can’t wait to read Claiming Her Mates!

Talk about a great read. This book will keep you reading till the very end. This story is about Nathan and his nanny Havana. Nathan tries everything to stay away from Havana, but he can't . A roller coast ride of emotions, action packed and you will not put it down. This is my first time reading this author and it will not be the last, that's for sure.

He's a shifter who accepted to be trapped into chastity & kept from shifting to save his daughter. She's a dancer who is trying to evade murder by becoming a nanny instead. The attraction between them is sizzling yet they try to keep from giving into it.
This is my first read by Dia Cole but definitely won't be my last as I truly enjoyed her writing style!

DNF -I tried to read his book (Claiming the Nanny) but couldn't stand Nathan & gave up at about 25%. I picked this up after reading book 1, Claiming her Mates, and enjoying that enough to be curious if I missed much in this book. No way I could finish this book though.

At my age (approaching 60), life is way to short & my time is to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

slow burn reverse harem

I gave this book 5 stars because the author forewarned it was a prequel. It leaves you with a lot of questions. I am thinking this is what Dia had in mind. She is building up our curiosity as to why Havana has never changed among avast many other questions. The one thing I hope changes is that Nathan and Ty grow a pair. I am looking forward to the next book.

Amazing new author and different take on werewolves!

I am so glad I tried this author! She has a pretty amazing idea on the supernatural and a different take on werewolves! Disappointed I didn't read this before claiming her mates, because it would have made me understand a little more but at the same time sometimes the prequel is better read after the series so to each their own. Personally, read this and then Claiming Her Mates!

Complicated love

O would highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy great romantic shifter tales filled with handsome men and beautiful women. Nathan has made a pledge to never be with a woman again after the birth of his daughter. He however needs someone to look after his daughter while he works and employs Havana whom he feels a connection to. This book is a prelude to a series of books but I think that readers will still enjoy it.

Nathan is bound to an Oath that is keeping his family safe. When he interviews Havana, he feels his wolf stir. Havana is a stripper that wants out of the life. Ty is a loyal as they come. Together can they overcome all odds.

I absolutely loved this book, it had everything you would want. I just wish there were more intimate moments.
