Previously on Dragon War Chronicles, our heroes recovered and were preparing to take the fight to a still unknown enemy. Meanwhile, startling breeding experiments were revealed.
Three sites are discovered in Russia that could hold all the answers they’ve been looking for. Three strike teams are assembled led by Xander, Kollin, and Tyler. Three simultaneous attacks are combined to make one devastating first strike against their hidden enemies.
What horrors will they discover? What plans will be revealed? Why is a member of the Dragon Council showing up on Danica’s doorstep with ultimatums?
Find out in the next exciting installment of Dragon War Chronicles.
Warning: This book contains explicit sexual contact between consenting adults. There are romantic, BDSM, and purely sexual relations shown that are MM and MF. There is also high sexual tension and alpha male posturing that will make you laugh and roll your eyes along with plenty of snark and definite teasing of dwarf-like dragons.

I have written, rewritten and agonized over this review. How do I describe the flawlessness of A.G. Carothers’ latest work? I’ve finally come to the conclusion it just isn’t possible to fully give First Strike: Dragon War Chronicles the recognition it deserves.
The character development is among the best I have ever seen. It is a credit to the author when as a reader I feel so much for the characters that I am passionate about my feelings, whether it’s love, hate or even mentally (and sometimes vocally) begging for an outcome I want.
A.G. Carothers masterfully pulls out emotions. I was crying, I was yelling, even laughing at times but most of all I never wanted to let go. It’s impossible not to sink into the world the author created. I lost all sense of time as I was immersed so deeply in the A.G. Carothers’ newest book.
As always, A.G. Carothers delivers on originality. It is a rollercoaster ride that I never wanted to leave. I devoured this book. I have loved every novel in this series but this is my new favorite. There’s a reason this series is among my most reread. It’s impossible not to fall in love with it. Not to mention those scorching hot scenes that had me blushing and needing a fan. Be prepared to be swept away by the magic this author creates. The next book can’t come soon enough—I need their words. I’m fully addicted.
5 stars for an addictive, magical and emotional read!
I don't think a book has ever instilled in me such a deep connection to it's characters that upon a conflicting episode arises where I am so overcome with a certain, let's just say disdain for said outcome, that I refuse, nay, am unable to continue reading, as I need to process my 5 stages of grief. And after a hearty dose of "therapy", with my book twin, I finally am ready - bribed with chocolate - to proceed. Needless to say that as the story progressed, I was once again twisted into turmoil and guilt... and the residual guilt is still ever present! How? Seriously how are they able to elicit so much emotion? I am truly awed by their words and so very grateful to have found them. Omg, I'm so frk'n sappy right now, but that's what they bring out in this amazing read.
It's a testament to the writing style of A.G. Carothers to be transported into another world where we so desperately wish we could be a part of, if even for a day, to just escape our own mundane reality. Thank you!
So if it's not clear by now.... A MASTERFUL WORK OF ART THAT MORE PEOPLE NEED TO BE INTRODUCED TO!
A 5🌟 READ THAT DESERVES ALL THE 🌟S IN THE UNIVERSE!!!
First Strike is the third book in The Dragon War Chronicles series by A.G. Carothers. This series keeps getting better and better with each book. Its filled with fast paced action, steam, captivating plotline and well developed and wonderful characters. I found myself felly engaged in the story and anxious to see what unfolded next. AMAZING!
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
this was just as good as the first two.. action packed.. fast paced.. keeps you on the edge of your seat interested and curious to see what will happen next.. plus the characters have grown and developed soo much over these books.. and the cover.. oh man it is a gorgeous cover!
This series gets better with every book. The world and character development in these books are like nothing I have read before. Always wanting more and loving every character even when some make you mad. Book three is my favorite so far, many things revealed and new developments taking place. This is a world you want to get lost in.

*3,5 stars*
Danica and her numerous allies make preparations to attack their enemy. But at the same time, the female dragon must cope with all the changes that affect her emotions and body. She must rediscover herself. To some extent, the men around her help her, especially Kollin, who is slowly getting closer to her. But there's no time for romance when the hormones are buzzing and the war is in the air.
"First Strike" is the third installment of "Dragon War Chronicles" and in my opinion the best one so far. It's not without flaws, but let's leave this topic for later. At the moment, I would like to focus on things that make "First Strike" a novel slightly better than the previous two parts. First of all, it is worth noting that this book has very good dynamics. The events follow one another in the order that sustains the interest of the reader, and all revelations of this volume are disclosed to us bit by bit. Some of them we can simply guess, as we get all the necessary "jigsaw puzzle" hints. It is also worth mentioning that the plot presented in this book is quite interesting, sometimes rich in action and certainly worth our attention. The readers are not bored, and at the end of this part it is not easy for them to take a break from reading as the story is gaining momentum. This is undoubtedly a big plus.
Unfortunately, what makes my rate of this novel somewhat lower is the fact that we return to the broad subject of Danica's life. To tell the truth, this volume so strongly focuses on her that all other characters make just a poorly visible background to her story, her worries, her sexual needs, her uniqueness. It is a great pity, because the side characters of this series are its strong point and the greater emphasis on their creation, evolution, and psyche could really be interesting. Of course, when reading this story, we once again look at Danica's sexual activities with her harem. I admit, therefore, that I missed a certain breath of fresh air in the form of sexual intercourse between women. Although "missing" is not quite a strong enough word because it was a rather undying need. The more so because we really need a sensible woman with balls in "Dragon War Chronicles".
Nevertheless, I must admit that "First Strike" also combines some quite interesting matters with Danica's character, which made me wonder about few things. They were present in the previous books already, but in this volume they are shown in a really clear way, as if they were almost asking us to pay attention to them. What I have in mind is Danica's attitude towards SLIPs. If we take into account the events of this volume and SLIPs' history that we already know, we notice a certain connection. For dragons created shape shifters because they needed them, and then abandoned them when they became superfluous. So the question is, whether Danica's attitude is really so different from the attitude of other dragons? In the end, she's largely dependent on SLIPs and uses them for her purposes, including sexual ones. Some of the shifters seem to be closer to her than others, but the question still remains. Just how important to her the shifters are as normal people, not useful "objects"? This is best illustrated by Tyler's case. However, I admit that in order to get to know his story you have to read "First Strike", as I can't reveal all the secrets of this volume to you, and undoubtedly they are largely associated with this particular character.
Another interesting part of this series is the way in which the relationship between Danica and Kollin is presented. Let's start with the fact that these two match each other in terms of the dragons' magic, like two halves of an apple. Their magics complement, attract and try to connect with each other. And they both know it. What's more, Danica knows exactly what Kollin feels for her and, to some extent, she herself, more or less consciously, tries to lure him into her spiderweb. I have the impression that her femininity is a witch who tries to offer Kollin a poisoned apple in the form of the female dragon. To be honest, in this volume, even more than in the previous ones, Danica seems to be like a sundew that attracts insects to feed on them, or a mermaid luring the sailors with her voice. Sometimes, I was wondering whether the way she effects the men is not part of the experiment that Danica is the result of.
To sum up, "First Strike" is a quite well-constructed and thoughtful novel, which is a big plus. I admit that there are some parts of the story presented in this volume that may surprise us and make us ask ourselves some questions concerning the characters and the motives of their behavior. It also affects the way we see this book. However, Danica remains an annoying hag who receives much more from others than she is able to give them back in return.

„First Strike” jest trzecią odsłoną „Dragon War Chronicles” i w moim odczuciu najlepszą. To bez wątpienia spory plus.
Chodzi o stosunek Danici do SLIPów. Najlepiej wszystko to obrazuje przypadek Tylera.
Well there were lots of surprises and twists in book three. Life will never be the same with everything that has happened now.
There are so many stories going on within the main story. So many character couples who break off then go back to become part of larger packs. Even though that could sound like a train wreck, Carothers does it flawlessly and what is left are seamless romance stories within one large fantasy story.
I have become emotionally invested in some of these characters so when they are harmed or worse, it breaks my heart. With the SLIPS' and dragons' first attack against their enemy two things came to light: 1) the enemy can now use mind control on dragons and 2) there is an enemy in their camp posing as a friend.
CANNOT WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON BOOK FOUR!!!💖,
I received a FREE copy of this book from LesCourt in exchange for an honest review.💋
Maybe you guessed it...and maybe you didn't. But I'm not telling! You'll have to read this installment of Dragon War Chronicles to learn what twists and turns are in store for the dragons and SLIPS. AG Carothers is a skilled story teller keeping readers' attention and weaving a believable and complex tale. This is not a standalone and stories should be read in order for the most enjoyment. I expect this author will be titillating and entertaining readers for many years with more unexpected tales and surprises.
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion And the story continues, now with a lot of surprising action showing us again how strong Danica's character is. Also, we got more hints that helped us to understand better the relationships created between the MCs and the humanity hidden inside the dragons. In my opinion with every book the series grew better and better. This book needed to be read as part of the series to better understand all the twists and turns in the plot. Loved it!!
Amazing book i really love this series its so good. and of course before i started reading this book i read the other 2 again and i still fins this series really good and i been telling some people about it. i couldnt put it down at all i love it alot
Each and every book in this series so far has had me on the edge of my seat reading wanting to see how things go and each and every book has been way more than I thought possible., each character is well defined and I feel like I know each of them . I look forward to more from them and this author.
I am so thankful that I found this series...my heart has been pulled out and crushed the loss that I felt broke me a little...I have so many questions and can't wait to dig into Dragon's Hoard.
I was so excited when this came out. I couldn't wait to read this next installment of a great story. It didn't disappoint. A.G. Carothers is an amazing new author and am totally absorbed in this story. Can't wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this book.
The third book in the series continues to entertain and delight. Drac has a great style that is easy to read but is complex at the same time. I love his characters. Dani is brave courageous and Oh! So! Headstrong! A very likable character too, I might add. His other main characters are loveable, endearing and some even evil. The sex scenes are hot whether With Dani or without. Xander, Matt, Aidan and Lukas are just a few of the hot men in the story. They are steamy and exciting. I highly recommend the entire series!
AG Carothers is a masterful author that has created a world filled with people, some you love, some you despise, and the magic is how completely immersed in the book and story that you will get. There will be moments of aww sweet to no, you can't do that!
I cannot wait to see more and find out what happens next.
What a fantastic, tension filled, smoking hot, fast paced, action packed, raw, intense, gritty, grab-you-by-the-feels, and totally awesome addition to this marvelous masterpiece of a series!!
Seems like the more we learn the less we know in this series, and I love it! Things are changing and A.G. Carothers has added many surprises and twists in this next installment of the Dragon Chronicles.
We meet some new people in First Strike but are still left with many questions. Is everyone who they say they are? Our main characters continue to grow closer but now they prepare for battle. I really like the direction things seem to be moving for our main characters. It makes me hope and wonder what other things will or won’t change.
Oh the surprises that popped up in this book! I can’t say I wasn’t expecting some of them but I can say they didn’t happen like I thought they would and others blindsided me. A.G. Carothers excels in fantasy, suspense and mystery! Each book keeps me engrossed from start to finish while still clamoring for more at the end every time.
After the rather disappointing second part of the series, “First Strike” is a definite improvement. This book doesn’t work as a stand-alone and the series must be read in order, otherwise you’ll be completely lost. And it probably doesn’t hurt to read them back to back. I read the second part a few months ago and was actually a little bit lost at times. You really need all the nitty-gritty details here.
“First Strike” was actually quite surprising on many levels. First of all, I thought the “Dragon War Chronicles” would be a trilogy, for some reason. It’s not, there’s definitely more to come. And I’m really happy about that, because I like the universe.
Once again, there’s a lot of explicit and very hot sex. There are some BDSM scenes and at least one scene where both parties are fully shifted into their animal forms. I’ve read countless shapeshifter stories, but outside of fanfiction, this is probably the first time I’ve ever seen a fully shifted sex scene. And it was hot! I’ve always wondered why the shifters seem to be completely asexual once they’re in their animal form, so I was quite happy to finally see this.
We also get to know the characters better. People other than Danica get a bit more on-page time and it was a nice change.
Just like expected, there was a big battle towards the end. The outcome did surprise me and there seems to be more going on than meets the eye. Conspiracies abound!
Overall, “First Strike” was better than the previous book, but not as great as the first part. But I’m still happy there’s more to come and I’m really looking forward to what’s going to happen next.
The cover art by Angsty G is very in-tune with the previous two. I like the lion head, it fits the theme of this story.
I am enjoying this saga, although I would be pleased with more connection and less sex just for the sake of sex. Sometimes I just don't feel the emotional connection. Tyler is a good example. He and Danica have sex, barely knowing one another, suddenly he is acting like he owns her, and then she is crushed by what happens later. I really enjoy the Dragon War story, and I would like to see it progress faster. Several personal stories are developing, and relationships are changing as some characters (including Danica) seem to be maturing by the end of this book. I am looking forward to the next book, which I hope develops the story more. This one ends with tragedy, spies, and betrayal. The next one should be good!
I received a complimentary ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
Gah! When does book four come out! Please say tomorrow!
Another fantastic roller coaster ride the world of dragons, shifters and slips! I purposely waited until my day off as I knew I wouldn’t be able to put the book down and I was right!! Can’t get enough of this series. Wishing I could snap my fingers and be on to the next book, this ch is killing me!!
And, the plot thickened… First Strike, book three of the Dragon War Chronicles, was marvelous. I enjoy the strength and cunning of the female protagonist, Danika, who always seems a few steps ahead of her competition. Excellent writing, fast pace, and lots of surprises.
This is book three of the Dragon War Chronicles and Danica has to place her loved ones in danger, as they ready themselves to strike at three secret sites in Russia where they believe experiments are being done on SLIPs and a whole lot more. She has to send Xander (bear and bonded protector of Danica), Kollin (dragon) and Tyler (lion) off to head each attack in a concerted effort to destroy part of their enemy, but has to stay behind due to some startling information of her own. Danica’s existence as maybe the only breeding age dragon in existence has started a feeding frenzy with the Dragon Council and they are going to attempt to force her hand into who she mates with and try to force her to breed for them! They obviously don’t know her very well! She has flown out to see fellow dragon Kollin a couple of times in his castle hideaway, and he has refused her advances, knowing more about the situation she faces than she does. She has been acting irrationally and unlike her normal self, but had no way of realising why that was. Her actions had forced some of those closest to her to keep their personal lives secret, but now Xander has mated to Aiden, and Lukas (Master) is about to pop the question to his student Matt, but she can still get comfort from her protectors and others around her, often in a sexual manner which some outside of their group can’t seem to understand. She doesn’t just sleep with those of her own kind, something older members of the Dragon community don’t or won’t understand.
She shouldn’t have had another heat for some ten years, but the sudden ability to shift into a wolf has clearly messed with her hormones and she doesn’t realise until it is all over, that that is why she did what she did with Tyler and tried to do with Kolllin! An unexpected outcome of that has her staying behind, too precious to be allowed into harm’s way. An unexpected visit from a member of the Dragon Council with very strict instructions on how she is to choose her mate and the time period set for it, with no allowances made for what she thinks, comes just as the final moves are made for their attacks. Her brother Anthony has arrived from her first casino site out in Las Vegas, after Isamu told him he was required in Toulouse, but has overstepped his mark again. Anthony doesn’t like him and nor does he trust him! Few actually know he is Danica’s older brother, even she didn’t for quite some time after he was placed in her orbit by their father to spy on her and see how well his experiments had worked on her. The dragon council member wants to watch the attacks as they take place and they have a whole area already set up to follow it all live. Not all will make it safely home again as there is a traitor somewhere who is passing information of their plans to others, who want to destroy them. But Danica has a number of allies now and a large number of SLIPs of all kinds willing to fight on her behalf. Even with the dragon council trying to force her hand, she will not stop running her businesses to help fellow SLIPs and their families, rescuing those being experimented upon, nor fighting against an evil cabal that wanted them stopped. Danica has to accept a lot of changes in this book and realise she may not get everyone she wants. Kollin is coming around, more because of the ease his and her magic seem to find together and it makes him realise what she truly is to him. Just a small matter of something in the way! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
This series just keeps getting better the characters and world have grown and developed so much from book one which from what I understand was this author’s debut novel/series and if so wow what a great way to start your writing career again this book is full of action and fast paced and I can’t wait to start book four.
Once again I was captured from the moment I started reading until the very last page. I fall in love with this universe and the characters a little bit more with each book. I can't get enough!
*make sure to read this series in order from start to finish!
