This magisterial study of international Communism presents the whole mighty drama of global socialism and Marxism: from its pre-Bolshevik origins through the establishment of a Communist empire over one third the world population to the shattering defeat of the Soviet state in 1991. A landmark work of history, exhaustively documented and narrated in a compelling style.
A better introduction to the truth of what really happened during the Cold War a Historian will never find. It is in many ways a summary of the war as the Cold War is full of side-stories which the book does not have time to delve into, but this book hits all the major events while also disclosing what life was really like behind the Iron Curtain. An excellent addition to any Historical library and a highly-recommended read.
