A young girl becomes friends with a new girl in school named Rose Marie who is overweight, but she has trouble standing up for her when other kids call her Fat Fat Rose Marie.

I read this mainly because of the title when I was browsing ebooks to borrow from the library. The message of standing up for friends who are bullied is good, but the writing was not very good and the title is terrible.

Fat fat rose marie is a funny and honest portrayal of childhood before political correctness in children's literature. It's one of our favorites. Let's face it, everyone isn't nice and eventually your children will encounter a Genevieve. This book offers insight on how to deal with the "Jerks of the world without losing yourself. Funny read and recommended.

I remember liking this book a lot as a kid, and am looking forward to re-reading it. I just ordered it from Half.com.
