3.5 Slow Burn Stars!

How to explain my feelings on this book. I LIKED the book but this is going to make it sound as if I didn’t like it.

The storyline was very good….the characters were great!! I am not a big fan of the slow burn and this could NOT have been any slower when it comes to that. Don’t get me wrong the book wasn’t slow it was just the development and follow through of their relationship. I read the first book and since I got the box set as a KU I read the first chapter of the second book but only because the first book left me hanging and I wanted to make sure what I wanted to happen, happened.

Since it was such a slow burn I am not going to continue with the next book BUT if YOU are a fan of the slow burn this might just be the book for you.

Having quit two books in a row before this one, not desiring to be a quitter, I probably spent more time on this one than I should've. The heroine was really unappealing. She cries every other page and she's a complete doormat. Maybe if there was some emotional component to the writing I'd give her some leeway but more time is spent on clothing descriptions and introducing us to new side characters than developing anything. I know this is supposed to be a friends to lovers trope but they really haven't been friends for very long and before they are even switched into romance mode they're all lusty over each other. Made weirder by the fact that his dead ex was her like a sister best friend. No part of this was working for me but hey at least in the time I spent contemplating quitting I realized I'd forgot to add ingredients into my crockpot?

I enjoyed Molly & Ryan's story. Loved Ryan's character... Not so sure about Molly. This was an interesting book... But a little sad at the end which ends on a cliffhanger... I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via booksprout.

Molly - Part One by Tracy Lorraine a life changing five-star read. This is the first book in the Angel series, this is the first book by Tracy Lorraine that I have read, and I am going to go buy everything she has written as soon as I finish writing this. She writes with such passion and grit that you can literary see the characters jumping off the page, I have finished the book and they are still shouting in my head wanting to tell me more of their story.
This story is told from the perspective of Molly Carter and Ryan Evans they have been best friends for years, and have both faced a major tragedy when Hannah who was Molly’s best friend and Ryan’s girlfriend, tragically died, they have helped each other get over it, and cope with the fall out.
Molly has always felt unloved, her parents didn’t seem to want her, and expected her to stay at home and raise a family, not go to university and gain a career that she loves. She always goes for men who she feels will love her but it doesn’t usually work out like that. The only family she ever felt wanted by was Hannah’s and even after losing her they are still the same with her, they still want her coming to family dinners and want to spend time with her. But will that last when she starts to become attracted to Ryan.
Ryan loved Hannah with all his heart, he didn’t expect to fall for someone else so soon after losing her, but he can’t help himself. Hannah would have wanted him to move on with someone, but would she want it to be her best friend? Will other people understand and accept the relationship? Will they?
Will they give the relationships they are in a go? Or will they give it a try once and for all, knowing they could ruin their friendship if it goes wrong. I mean what could go wrong, they are best friends who share a house, it’s not like they won’t every argue, or spend each minute in each other’s pockets. Will the friendship survive? You must read to find out, and then read the rest of the series to see what happens next.

I really enjoyed this book. I was a little sad at the ending, it kind of ending on a cliffhanger. Thankfully I had the next one ready to go. I absolutely love Ryan. He really does deserve to be happy and I would be extremely happy to have a boyfriend who treats me the way he does those he loves. Molly is a tricky character. She comes from a 'family' where she knew her parents didnt want her, yet adored her older brothers. Of course that would wreck havoc on someones self-esteem and push her towards men for all the wrong reasons. I really appreciated how Lorraine would just give bits and pieces of information regarding Hannah. I was invested in finding out what happened.

3*'s . I received an arc for an honest review.

I never take it lightly to review a book, as I wish I had the ability to write one myself. I don't like saying negative things in my reviews, because we need to find positive elements in everything. The favourable aspects of this book were friendships. Molly didn't come from a home with a lot of loving care, but she found friends that could fill the void and then some. The twin sisters and their family that lived next door in her early life, then more friends from her university years. This is where she met Ryan and after a tragic accident, their friendship became stronger and they are now best friends. Molly is currently the sole owner of her business and when her relationship with Max ends, Ryan takes her in to his new home and they become house mates........which then sparks feelings for both of them that they don't know how to handle.

There was definitely a good foundation to the book but I felt the characters lacked maturity which gave them no depth. Also, where angst was supposed to be building up, I was just getting annoyed with them. They were changing their decision about each other constantly, it was slightly flippant.

If you enjoy a strong female character, who treasures her friendships like they are her family, you might like this book too.

FOUR Stars- I received an ARC for an honest review of Molly (Angel, #1)
by Tracy Lorraine

I was literally entertained in the first chapter by Molly, she's caring and funny and in need of love. This story starts off sad but is constantly moving and I'm frustrated that I can't dive into book 2 to find out what will happen next.

I love this book! The tension, the almost kisses, the emotion, just wow! It kept me hooked throughout the whole book leaving me wanting to keep reading on! Molly and Ryan are so stubborn to see what’s going on in front of them and I can’t wait to read part 2!!

This book follows Molly and Ryan who become really close after Ryan’s girlfriend and Molly’s best friend passes away. Molly finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her which results in Molly moving in with Ryan. Before she moves in her friendship with Ryan was simply just a friendship but things changed after she moved in.

Molly has a very bubbly and fun personality that everybody loves and I love her! She’s a strong FMC and knows exactly what she wants but the one thing that annoyed me is how madly in love she is in with Ryan but she was terrified that it would ruin the relationship. It’s understandable but when you know something feels right you go for it and she knows this too but she’s very stubborn! I hope she has a reality check in part 2.

Ryan on the other hand is just wow wow wow! He has the hots for sure! He is so protective of Molly and it makes my heart melt! He has this tough guy act but deep down he’s such a softy and I absolutely love that! He gets jealous over Molly and every guy who looks her way and who doesn’t love an overprotective boyfriend? He’s very sweet and almost does anything Molly asks. He literally worships the ground she walks on! I hope Molly comes to her senses for him in part 2!

There wasn’t much of a plot in this book, more of just a storyline of a normal life but it’s a great story! The reason I didn’t give this book 5 stars was purely because of how slow the burn is and don’t get me wrong I absolutely love a slow burn but when the slow burn isn’t slow burning I get a little bored and frustrated and by the end of it I was screaming at my phone “JUST FUCK ALREADY” 😂

Overall 4/5 stars 🌟

My rating: 3/5
Hero: 3/5
Heroine: 3/5
POV: dual
Angst level: 2/5
Steam level: 1/5
Trigger/Taboe/Genre: best friends to lovers, slow burn

Molly has a hard year. After losing her best friend in an accident she discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her. She doesn’t know where to go so she goes to Ryan. They’re best friend & became really close after losing Hannah. Molly moves in with Ryan but she notices her feelings toward Ryan are changing. She always felt attracted to him but in the end it was Hannah who got the boy. They keep pushing each other away & aren’t really honest to each other.

Things I liked:
- Molly’s friends, they’re all really close
- Hannah’s family is like Molly’s family

Things I didn’t like:
- the slow burn. I’m not a big fan of slow burn actually, but this one was really slow.
- the push & pull between Ryan & Molly, make up your minds guys 🙄

My opinion:
Not my favourite read. It’s really slow, they keep pushing each other away to come back to each other. Nothing actually happened in this book, I’m a little disappointed with it, I had really high hopes of it. I just hope Part Two is going to be better.

Molly Part one:
Molly wants to be wanted. She has made bad decision after bad decision when it comes to men but when the events of one fateful night changes her life forever will she find what she has always wanted with the one person she never expected?

Ryan thought his life was all planned out with his perfect girl but when tragedy strikes it changes his life forever.

Molly and Ryan mourn together. They life together. And they have feelings for each other.
Will their families accept what is between them?
Is what has developed between them worth the risk?
This is part one of a series and ends with a cliffhanger.
4 Stars because I liked this book.

Ryan and Molly have the best chemistry I've read in a long time!

That's not to say they didn't frustrate me because they did! Much of their angst and mine, would have been eliminated had they just talked to each other openly. Regardless of their lack of communication, I adored them.

Warning: there is a cliffy at the end, not too bad but you'll want to launch into book two straight away!

A great read!

This is the first book I've read by Tracy Lorraine and I love the story line, it's friends to lovers but with a twist. Molly and Ryan are great characters and although they do cry a lot, especially Molly, at times it's warranted but boy is that girl emotional! It's funny, sad, and very British which is great however I feel the book is just too long, there's a lot of duplication when the POV changes character and quite a bit of (in my opinion) unnecessary description that made it long winded at times; especially as this is a two part story. Molly is the first book in a series and secondary characters from this book will eventually appear in their own books, I'm excited to see how these characters are explored. It's well worth the read so I'd definitely recommend it.

I read part one and two. It was a sweet love story. He had to keep misunderstanding and getting jealous and the back story is sad and you can understand why it takes so long to get going on this relationship. Mostly liked it but no need for two books.

With this being my first read from Tracy Lorraine I went into it with no expectations - so fresh eyes!

The prologue to this story gives us some background to Molly, so as a reader we manage to understand the way she is in the future with the actions she takes. I did feel for her right from the off as it seemed she had a sad childhood.

Jump to the future and Molly & Ryan are best friends and due to a turn of events in Molly's life, they end up moving in together; not for the first time though as they were flatmates at uni, along with their other friends, twins Hannah and Emma. An accident changed everyone's lives and they are all piecing it back together, 6 months on. I could feel the heartbreak throughout from all of them, though they all dealt with it in different ways.

The sexual tension between Molly & Ryan after becoming housemates again is palpable; but it also seemed to last the majority of this book and it did get me a little frustrated - just get it on already! But, it is understandable why they keep holding off with each other.

The character development was strong, and I adore Ryan. Just a man in love who wants his girl but can't quite seem to catch her. Molly, strongly resisting temptation but she has her reasons for doing so due to her past, and I highly respected her for that!

There is a cliffhanger, and I did shout out "No, you can't leave it there!" - so that's the sign of a good book!

I'm giving it 4* as I thought the tension was just dragging a little too long, and there was some grammatical inconsistency but overall a great story of friendships and fighting for them to survive.

description

Molly - Part One was a 4 star read.

We meet Molly who walks in on her dirtball boyfriend having a threesome. She ends up at her best friend Ryan’s place. Ryan and Molly have grown very close the past 6 months. Ryan ends up inviting her to move in with him.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

After Molly moves in things start to get a little intense between them sexually. As they both struggle with their feelings we get to know their friends and family a little better as well. I liked Molly’s strength but would have liked to see her stand up for herself a little more with Ryan’s mother. All I can say is I absolutely disliked Ryan’s mom, what a biatch. The additional characters added a great element to the story.

I have to say that I had major blue balls after this book. I enjoyed the story but the cat and mouse game, the feelings of betrayal if they did get together just grew to be repetitive to me. Don’t get me wrong I loved it and was really glad that I had Molly Part 2 on standby but I think both of these together in one book would be a huge satisfier. We do get left with a cliffhanger so make sure you have part 2 on hand.

MOLLY
PART ONE
ANGEL #1
TRACY LORRAINE
5 Stars
Molly Part One by Tracy Lorraine is the first book in the Angel series. All Molly wants is to feel needed and wanted, because of this she tends to make bad decisions with men. When she finds her latest boyfriend in bed with two women she decides she has had enough, the next man she will be with will be one she loves. Having nowhere to go she ends up living with Ryan. Bound by tragedy Molly and Ryan’s friendship slowly began to morph into something more that they had considered.
Could they overcome everything that they had been through and find a happy medium on which to build a future or was their past going to be the obstacle that stood in their way?
I enjoyed the read, but that was primarily because the author presented me with two characters that were genuinely fabulous. They were endearing, yes they were frustrating at times but I found that realistic, I wanted to whisper in their ears that they needed to wake up and look at what they stood to lose if they didn’t admit how they felt but as frustrating as it was, I also understood.
I liked the fact that the author also stuck in some great secondary characters into the story – namely Jax! I think there is more to this sexy tatted man than meets the eye.
I found the whole story more emotional than I anticipated. This pair really did undertake a journey and by the time I got to the end of the story I was excited that the journey was not quite over yet.
This book is a life lesson to those who plan out what their life should be when fate has other plans. To not live in a glass house because when that glass comes shattering down how will you pick up the pieces and put them back together again. What starts off as one friend trying to help another turns into something more. Is the chemistry between them worth the possibility of losing each other’s friendship?
What starts off as one friend trying to help another turns into something more. Is the chemistry between them worth the possibility of losing each other’s friendship?I loved the story. I loved the characters. I loved the drama.
After a sad start Molly and Ryan really have you willing them on from the start. You feel for them, both individually and together as friends. I found the story relatable and realistic, which I like. I found myself willing the both on through out. The story has great filtering characters. A spanner in the form of jax gets thrown in the mix and the story takes more twists and turns. I loved jax, probable too much, I found myself falling a little for him. I'd love to see more from him in. The second book or on his own book! As for Molly and Ryan. Bring it on!! I can't wait for more!
