As a person from a certain part of the U.K., I’m going to use the phrase Cor Blimey!

This is the most raw, compelling heart wrenching book I’ve read in this subject matter.
I’ve felt anger, hatred, I wanted to reach out and give Alan what he dished out to his wife Kate.
That wouldn’t make it right but by goodness it would have made me feel better.

Standing back from this (based on the authors experience) I got to see how good, how strong and how gritty this writing was to evoke so much from me.

It’s not an easy read, no siree but it happens more than we want to acknowledge.

When Kate comes into some money and starts making plans I’m smiling for her. It’s not easy. She’s still being abused mentally and physically.

I thought this author write a very powerful story. And I wonder how much if her life experiences she drew on.

Not an easy read, it’s raw, holds no punches back but well worth

A gritty, no holds barred story, dark and at times upsetting in its ‘realness’ but brilliantly written
Kate is locked in a terrible abusive marriage with Alan...Alan is shocking, his treatment of Kate is heartbreaking to read and I absolutely hated him ( due to the wonderful writing ) and his character was so emotive making I almost rang the Police myself about him!
Kate leads a wretched life and her existence is basically surviving the onslaught from him and protecting her daughter Sophie
Kate comes into a very large sum of money and decides her life is changing and enlists the help of Jill her ‘bestie’.....she also meets a new man who is everything Alan isn’t.....or is he?
The book then pulses with a frantic story of lies, betrayal, murder and ends fabulously with what I think will make every reader do as I did and give a big smile and shout ‘yes’.....after you have recovered from the shock!
Characters are wonderfully portrayed and easy to ‘get to know’ ( good and vile alike ) and the story never lets up from the first page
Brutal, harrowing, emotive, scarily genuine, great storyline and left me feeling I had spent a day reading a worthy
10/10 5 Stars book!

A FOOL'S CIRCLE by SUZANNE SEDDAN
Available 3/17/19

Kate has been mentally and physically abused by her husband for many years. Why does she stay? She's hanging on for her 8-year-old daughter who is just now questioning why Daddy does the things he does. Her best friend, Jill, has been trying to convince her to leave for a long time.

Just when things look even bleaker, Kate gets a call from an attorney's office. Her aunt has died and left quite a lot of money. This is her one chance to get away....

Telling no one except her friend, Jill, she makes plans to run. She even meets a new man who may become someone important to her.

But everyone has secrets... Kate's husband, the new man in her life, even her best friend, Jill. And they all seem to be after the same thing ....

WARNING -- This book may not be suited for everyone as it does contain triggers. The language is rough, meant to ruin one self-esteem, domestic violence, and a rape scene.

This is a well-written psychological thriller with credible characters and enough twists and turns to keep you reading and reading until the very unexpected ending.

Many thanks to the author / TBC Reviewer Request Group (FB) for the digital copy of this Psychological Thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

WOW! WOW! WOW!
I don't usually write long winded reviews. But I feel this book definitely warrants one!
I read a lot of the authors background, before tackling this read. Which is really interesting to say the least.
Seddon Grew up around domestic violence and mental abuse, which she has remarkably captured in it's most shocking form, in this debut psychological thriller!
The characters are well developed and the language is totally unforgiving. 'But domestic violence isn't pretty, right?' and I wasn't in the slightest put off by the swearing.
Seddon brings this to the forefront in such a raw form. That you can't help but wonder, how much of this actually took place in her own life?
After reading about the author Seddon states that part of this book was taken from some of her own personal experiences. But reluctant to say which parts?
The main character Kate Saunders will take you on an emotional roller-coaster that most times had me on the edge of my seat and surely left me wanting more!
( write another book Suzanne Seddon ) I have read many Martina Cole books and I couldn't help but compare Seddon to her at her best!
For those of you that like a good solid psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns along the way, with obviously an element of truth involved. Then look no further, this book is for you.
A very easy 5 stars from me! I enjoyed every minute of it. ( highly recommended)

A FOOL’S CIRCLE is a psychological thriller by author Suzanne Seddon that deals with domestic physical and mental abuse. This book may not be suited for everyone as it does contain triggers, with graphic language and a rape scene. This was such an emotional read, but I applaud the author for addressing the issue of Domestic Violence, and keeping it on the forefront. Love the cover, as it sets the stage for what is to come.

Kate Sanders has suffered many years of physical and mental abuse at the hands of her abusive husband Alan, and convinces herself that she is only holding the family together for the sake of her eight-year-old daughter, Sophie. Sophie witnesses her mother’s abuse, and thinks her father is a “big bully.” Kate’s best friend, Jill Reynolds, has wanted Kate to leave the brutal marriage a long time ago.

“She regretted the day she set eyes on Alan, and married the heartless bastard.”

As she desperately seeks a way to escape, she is contacted by a solicitor. Kate’s old aunt has died and she has been left a small fortune…so now her dreams can now become a reality! She has to escape the clutches of her evil husband, in order to provide a better life for her and her daughter.

Kate confides to no one but her friend, Jill, of her recent windfall. She makes plans to escape. She now dreams of a new start, a new home and a new life for her and her daughter.

What Kate doesn’t know is that Jill and Alan have their own secrets, and are both desperate to get their hands on her money. And even a new man, Jonathon Jacobs, Kate has just met, has alternative motives.

A Fool’s Circle is a well-written psychological thriller that had me hooked from the start. Plenty of twists and turns to keep your attention with a surprise ending.

No woman should have to deal with domestic abuse. Spread a little love to make this a better world.

Many thanks to the author and TBC Reviewer Request Group (FB) for my digital copy.

Kate is the victim of domestic abuse. The behaviour of her husband has spiralled from small things to a constant barrage of abuse on a daily basis. She has convinced herself that staying with her husband is better for their daughter, but the truth is she is just too frightened to leave him.

Things take a turn for the worse when an opportunity for freedom arises, however Kate hasn’t taken into account just how vindictive her husband can be and that she can’t trust the people around her. Sometimes there is a fine line between someone being a friend or an frenemy.

The author mentions her inspiration for this story in the acknowledgements. Being a witness to physical and mental abuse has made her more determined to be an advocate for domestic violence.

The experience of witnessing such abuse isn’t the same as being a victim of abuse, it does however leave a lasting impression on that person. The repercussions of being in such a toxic environment can last a lifetime and often needs therapeutic intervention. It can taint the way a person interacts with difficult situations and treats the people around them. Unfortunately the abused and those who have witnessed the abuse as children, a small number of them sometimes – not always, go on to be abusers themselves. There is however a strong correlation between children who have experienced abuse and go on to experience further abuse as adults.

The novel has been adapted from the play, also written by Seddon, which probably explains the awkward dialogue and repetitive use of names in said dialogue. It lacks smooth linguistic transfers or continuance and could do with a good edit.

It’s crime fiction with domestic abuse at the forefront of the plot. It’s all about how Kate tries to sever the destructive ties between herself and her husband, and protect her young daughter at the same time.

Ugh. Terrible plot, bland characters and way too much unnecessary foul language. Many typos in Kindle version. Predictable storyline. I could go on and on. It is rare for me hate a book but I really and truly loathed it. I feel like the author tried too hard to come up with something interesting and twisty. It wasn't.

Title: A Fool's Circle
Author: Suzzane Seddon
Pages: 328

Kate is suffering from an abusive marriage with Alan. She is only living to save her eight-year-old daughter. She also has her "bestie" Jill Reynolds. The book is filled with twists and turns. It is filled with lies and betrayal. It is not an easy read. The character developments are great and writing makes it more powerful. The topic of domestic violence is amazingly described and how it makes one's life worst. The cover says a lot about the book of seeing abuse from someone's eyes. The book is highly emotional and how their daughter had to suffer. It is a great thrilling, emotional and gripping read!

This was an interesting read. It’s a psychological thriller. The MC is married to a mental abuser. It’s very real and raw and I enjoyed the way the author took my emotions on what I can only describe as a rollercoaster of a ride!

The plot twists and turns were stunning. A compelling read that certainly won't disappoint. 5 star read for me. Look forward to reading more from this author.

Kate Sanders is a victim of an abusive husband. The only thing that keeps her staying in the marriage is her little daughter. But when a solicitor contacts her, things change in a positive way. Kate's aunt dies and leaves her a lot of money. Kate sees this as a chance to make her way out of her marriage. Her only friend is Jill and she offers to help with the escape. That is what friends do, right? And Kate meets a new man, someone very different from her abusive husband. But is she capable to trust and love again?

At first, it seems like a light story. But things aren't that easy, nor that predictable. Kate is in a trap. A multi-layered trap. Can she trust the people she loves? Or she should be afraid of her own shadow? Maybe the right question is: How much does she know the people around her?

A Fool's Circle is a grippy psychological thriller. Every moment when you think that Kate is finally out, you are wrong! Something bad happens and she is in some kind of trouble again! Page after page, you remove one layer after another. Twist and turn-overs on every corner! A real emotional roller-coaster. I loved it!

I should have read this book long time ago. But my TBR list is so long. This is an excellent book.  I liked it and hope to see more of this author in future.

It’s funny when you read this ladies bio she seems so sweet and caring, she wants to advocate for all those who suffer abuse. How about the abuse she hurls at others on social media? The trans people, people who need support and care, not vicious cows like this calling them names and trying to protest their existence. Disgusting human being and awful book. Truly terrible.

First, I want to thank Suzanne Seddon for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

If you are looking for a light read coming into Fool’s Circle you will not be getting that with this book. Suzanne Seddon takes you deep into a couple’s domestic violence relationship. This book may not be suited for everyone as it does contain triggers. It does contain very graphic language that ruins one self-esteem, domestic violence, and a rape scene. I am a huge fan of psychological thrillers but this one shook me to the core and then some!!

Suzanne Seddon did an incredible job bringing the subject of domestic abuse to the front lines of the literary world. This subject was incredibly passionate and close to her heart. Growing up, Suzanne witnessed mental and physical abuse within her own family which strongly influenced her writing her first play Fool’s Circle.

However, that being said there were times that it was incredibly hard to read as a woman. It was hard not feel something for Kate and want to defend her to Alan. Many times I wanted her to fight back. I wanted to know why she was just taking the abuse. I would become angry at the character for not standing up to him. Plus, I would be scared for Sophie too. So many emotions in this book.

In the book you will see flashbacks to how Alan and Kate had met. You will realize how toxic their relationship really was from the get go. However, Kate was too blind to see it.

If there was anyone that pulled on my heart strings this whole book and I felt so bad for it is their daughter Sophie. She was the one that witnessed Mommie take all the abuse from Daddy. She heard everything. Can you imagine what damage that does to a child emotionally and mentally? It effected even her school life later on. Her father was such a jerk that he didn’t want to admit that he was her kid. Alan treated both Sophie and Kate like garbage.

Kudos to the graphic designer who created this cover. It was brilliant!! Seeing the abuse in the eye of someone else. It was brilliant. It was spot on.

Suzanne would like to thank her beautiful daughter Poppy for putting up with her and the endless amounts of paper she put all over the place.

This is the first time ever that I have a read a book that the author dedicates a book to herself. Suzanne says she is the strongest person she knows. Plus, she has fought many battles.

A gripping read from start to finish. If you are looking for a light read, this is not it! The plot explores a couple’s domestic violence, vulgar language and actions. The author does a phenomenal job in bringing the subject of domestic violence to the front line! I’m a huge fan of psychological thrillers but this one left me in shock.

As a woman, some scenes were hard to read. I felt for Kate and all she had to endure from her husband and not seeing the red flags in her friendship with Jill. Most of all, I was heartbroken for Sophie, Kate and Alan’s daughter, who witnessed and heard everything that was going on in the house. It’s hard as a woman to take and I can’t begin to understand what it must feel like for a child to go through it.

Seddon’s book had me hooked from the start. I couldn’t wait to find out if Kate would be able to save herself and her daughter from their abusive household.

I look forward to future work from the author.

I read this book in a day as really got engrossed. At first I wasn't sure I'd be able to read it as was traumatic listening to how Alan spoke and treated Kate and Sophie. Then Kate comes in to money and with the help of a friend and a new man in her life things appear they will get better! But Alan gets murdered and Kate is arrested! What follows then is lots of twists and turns and even when you think it's over they keep on coming right until the last page!!!

Woeful. The legal procedures are wrong, the police procedures are wrong, the story doesn’t make sense, there are graphic and gratuitous rape scenes, the dialogue is completely off. Eight year old child: “Why does he talk and smell funny when he drinks that stinky brown stuff? Children notice everything you know.’”. The first book ever that I’m going to delete from my account.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have given A Fool's Circle by Suzanne Seddon four out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Warning: this book contains difficult scenes to read as per explicit language, emotional, mental and physical abuse.
Almost immediately I was drawn towards the characters; Kate Sanders and her daughter, Sophie Sanders. I thought Kate was a very brave woman who dealt with a lot of emotional and physical abuse from her husband, Alan Sanders. At times it was quite difficult to ready over particular scenes that took place in this book due to Alan's words and actions.
So much happened in this book I couldn't believe how much detail the author went into. There were a lot of twists and turns, some of them were predictable but there were a lot which I did not see coming (especially the plot twist that comes right at the end..!) I've only finished reading this book in the last hour and can honestly say I am still gobsmacked at how the twists caught me out!
I really liked Seddon's writing style and thought it was very well-written with well-developed characters which helped me to connect to the story a lot better. There were quite a few names you had to remember but I thought Seddon wrote this story very well that I always knew which character was which.
A Fool's Circle is one of those books where you could easily read it in one sitting, unfortunately I had a busy weekend so I couldn't dedicate that much time to reading but also I found it quite difficult at first to read over the awful, traumatic and brutally raw scenes that happened throughout the majority of this book.
There were definitely pros and cons for this book being very fast-paced. The pros were that the style and quickness definitely fit the story well to what was being unravelled, however I would've loved for it to have a been a little longer because I felt like I was rushing through as I wanted to know what was going to happen. That's just my preference though!
This is a very chilling and dark story which is not for the faint hearted. I would definitely recommend this book for readers who enjoy mystery, thriller, suspense and psychological fiction stories.

Leia. Só leia. Não tem como se arrepender. Acredite!

What was that book! Oh my!
It’s like you’re reading something and think that you figure all out, and then you discover that’s nothing like that!
That’s it! That’s the book.

It’s about domestic violence, sexual assault and betrayal, but, despite all those sad things, you start reading and don’t wanna stop until the end!

And what was that ladies and gentlemen!
What was that! Until now I can’t say exactly how I feel about it, for sure!
That was something that I wouldn’t have figured out!
It’s amazing!
If you wanna know what I’m talking about, just pick up your Kindle and read this book at kindle unlimited, and then we can talk about it a little more!

⚠️Trigger Warning ⚠️ This book deals with an abusive relationship and all the physical and emotional turmoil that comes with it. That being said there are some graphic scenes in the book. Keep that in mind before reading.

I read this book in one sitting and honestly couldn’t put it down. The story revolves around Kate Saunders and the horror she goes through at home with her abusive husband. All she wants is to provide a better life for her and her daughter Sophie, but she’s stuck. That’s until she comes into money when her aunt passes away. Now with a light at the end of the tunnel she finally feels hope. With the help of her best friend Jill she starts to form a plan. Everything changes when she meets Jonathan Jacobs, someone she falls head over heels for. What she doesn’t know is that his attempts to beg her to leave her husband may be part of an ulterior motive. Unaware of what’s real and what’s pretend it may already be too late. Suddenly Kate finds herself framed for a murder she didn’t commit. When all signs point to you and the motive is clear, how do you clear your name?

5 ⭐️ This book was an emotional journey. It dealt with some heavy stuff and it was a lot to take in. The main character Kate grows over the course of the book into such a strong main character. I found myself not wanting to put this book down the entire time I read. The twists and turns it takes you on are a wild ride. Highly recommend giving this one a read.

I wanted to enjoy this book much more than I did. The basis for the storyline, the ending of this book for me was what meant that I enjoyed it as much as I did and why it reached three stars, unfortunately some of what I felt was unwarranted language and content in the book was what let it down and I found the characters at times contrived. A real shame as I had high hopes

"Talk about a desperate housewife."

So, where to start? Initially I felt like Alan's side of dialogue was a little exaggerated, but then I was stopped in my tracks when I remembered that I know people who've actually behaved exactly like this. One part of the story that surprised me was that Kate was confiding in her friend about Alan's behaviour. Not usually the case in these sorts of books, the abuse is usually kept quiet, so that was different. A few chapters in, there was a bit of a jaw dropper for me. I had a feeling something like that was coming but I was still shocked by it when it happened. Especially that last line in chapter 3. Poor Sophie.

The occurrence between Jill and Andy didn't surprise me, I foresaw that quite early on but how it played out was different to what I'd thought. The conclusion of the book was good. Alan, Jill and Johnny got exactly what they deserved 🤷🏻‍♀️ I had a brief moment where I thought I was going to hate Kate but I don't. Everything she was doing she was doing for Sophie, her daughter, who played a much bigger part in this than I anticipated.

The content would be tough for some readers but the fact that parts of the book are autobiographical makes it harder to read.

Thanks to the author for this free ecopy!

Let me start by saying this book was extremely difficult in the early chapters. The abuse, both physical and mental was hard to digest and I can’t think of a character I’ve loathed more than Alan. While painful to read, I give this author serious props for creating such a wicked character and describing with such detail this woman’s horrendous experience. In addition to detailing the abusive relationship between Kate and Alan, the story is also wrapped in a mystery with character’s the reader can easily see can’t be trusted. I also found the police in this story to be more like Keystone Cops, versus true detectives and perhaps that provided for the ending to take shape. Overall I enjoyed this story and appreciated the opportunity to read it. The ending message, which provides woman who are currently suffering from abuse various resources to seek help, was a nice way to wrap up the story. If one woman who reads this book recognizes her life and makes a call for help, it’s worth it.

Wow! Disrespect, abuse, usury, lies, deceit, oppression, betrayal, opportunity, greed, a bit of raunchiness and the ultimate question: can we ever really know a person no matter how charismatic, no matter how long we may have known them?

Overall, not a bad book (despite some editing issues). The backstory was interesting enough but it was missing a few key points in plausibility - specifically with the way police and detectives were portrayed in the book. You just could not take any of them seriously. Not opposed to cliffhangers but this one made no sense or at the very least, was confusing. It is almost as though the author just wanted to meet a deadline and just threw the ending together. I felt a bit cheated.

I was very kindly sent a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
'A Fool's Circle' by Suzanne Seddon is a book that follows the story of a character named Kate Sanders who has suffered years of mental and physical abuse at the hands of her abusive husband, Alan. The only other people Kate has in her life are her daughter, Sophie and her best friend, Jill. That is until Kate is contacted by a solicitor who informs her that she has been left a small fortune by her old aunt who has passed away. Could Kate's luck finally be changing? And could this finally be her chance for a fresh start with her young daughter away from her abusive husband? But what Kate doesn't know yet is that her husband, Alan and her best friend, Jill have their own secrets and that they both want to get their hands on her money. Soon Kate finds herself falling for the charms of a man named Jonathon Jacobs, unaware that he has his own motives and that each move he makes has been directed, orchestrated and well-rehearsed. Things take an even messier turn for Kate when she finds herself in the frame for murder...
I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'A Fool's Circle.' The book had me hooked from the very first page and I just couldn't stop reading it! Although, I did find certain parts of the book difficult to read and at times quite distressing. Mainly when it came to the chapters that included Kate and Alan's deeply abusive relationship and the domestic violence that she had to endure. But I do feel like the abuse Kate suffered was necessary to the story and needed to be included to show just how much she'd been through. I felt so much sympathy for Kate and her young daughter and as the reader I was hoping so much for them that they could find a way out from the abuse that was part of their every day lives.
I would like to thank author Suzanne Seddon for writing 'A Fool's Circle,' such a truly gripping story that I have had the great pleasure of reading.

Where do I start ?

The story tells of Kate and how, after a bit of a whirlwind romance she marries Alan….she’s seen he gets a bit angry but she has no idea what is to come. She is verbally and physically abused on a daily basis by a now spiteful, aggressive and almost permanently drunken husband. This was difficult reading but highlights the amount of domestic abuse that goes on behind closed doors….with the majority being women, who end up feeling embarrassed at being a victim….

Kate is then left a lot of money by her Aunt and the only person she tells is her friend Jill, who she has known for years….they have lunch to celebrate and Kate meets John….is he her soulmate?

Kate is determined to turn her life around, to escape the constant torment and abuse with her beloved daughter, Sophie, a little angel. Kate worries about how much psychological damage is being done to Sophie as she understands what her Daddy is doing to her Mummy….heartbreaking to read.

But then, Kate is arrested for murder !! Who can she trust ? Will all her plans for a better life be destroyed?

Oh my heart…..what a marvellously twisted, heart wrenching page turner this is….. I had such empathy for Kate….and sheer hatred for Alan, an absolute credit to Suzanne Seddon’s creative, emotion packed and downright anger inducing writing……brilliant.

Thank you to Anne Cater at Random Things Tours for a free copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

This was a chillingly dark story about Kate Sanders, her husband Alan and their young 8 year old daughter Sophie.

Alan wasn't the best husband, he was mentally, physically and at times sexually abusive towards Kate. Kate is very protective of her daughter and thankfully, the abuse hasn't reached as far as her daughter. However, Sophie has seen far more than an eight year old, should ever be subjected to and she feels very protective of her Mum.

Kate would love to be able to forge a new life for her and Sophie away from Alan and his abusive nature. She thinks all her prayers have been answered when she meets and falls for Jonathan Jacobs. It was a chance meeting one afternoon while out with her best friend Jill, that led to them meeting one another and fate seemed to have plans for them both.

However, when her husband Alan is found murdered it's not long before she finds herself in the frame and the main suspect.

I found this a well written debut psychological thriller that was full of twists and turns, that leads you one way and then you find yourself going off in a completely different direction. It sure had me guessing and second guessing myself as I read it.

I will be watching for more by this Author and I hope this isn't the last that we hear of her.

Firstly, I would like to thank the author for providing me with a pdf copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am going to start my review with a warning. This book may not be for everyone. Trigger warnings include mental, physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence and strong language.

This is a gritty and dark story which at times was harrowing to read. This psychological thriller is semi autobiographical and it can be seen from it's 'realness', which was fantastically written.

Kate is stuck in an abusive marriage to Alan - his treatment towards Kate at times is appalling. I completely hated the character, as was meant to happen due to the compelling writing.

Kate's life is basically protecting her daughter, Sophie, and surviving the daily abuse from her husband. When she inherits a large sum of money she decides to change her and Sophie's lives and asks for help from her 'best friend' Jill. She also starts a new relationship with a new man who is everything she wants... isn't he?

The second half of this book is fast paced; full of lies, murder and a fabulous ending. This book holds no punches, is raw and powerful and definitely worth a read.
