I met him on Monday and was ready to murder him by Friday. Egotistical. Prideful. Mean. I didn't care that he had a godlike jaw structure or a body that was masculine perfection. I detested men like Jackson Tate and he was about to find out why. Except, the metaphorical ball I was ready to throw at his head landed in his court instead, giving him the upper hand and intel he shouldn't be privy to. Now I was at his mercy and playing by his rules.
Ashley resides in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and four children. She enjoys hiking, sneaking off to read, and of course, drinking copious amounts of coffee when she finally sits down to write.
It is absolutely brilliant. From the cover to the title. I loved it the first time I read it, and I’m glad Ashley published it as a novella. The Chemistry between Jackson and Laney is undeniable and I just cannot wait to read Fade. Ashley writes beautiful words that you definitely need to read!
💖Glimmer’s incandescent secondary characters get their own book!!!!💖
While reading Ashley Munoz’s debut book, Glimmer, (Jimmy and Ramsey’s story), I have to admit that secondary character, Laney, the crazy-ar$ed friend of Ramsey, intrigued me so much that I wrote in my reading notes that she was a character I needed to know more about. She was a fiery stick of dynamite on high heels, and was steadfast in her protection of Ramsey who’d got herself into a dangerous situation. In short, she saved her friends backside.
Jackson, Jimmy’s best friend, is a successful restaurateur back in Chicago, Jimmy’s home turf. Never has a woman wound him up so much, nor called him out on his attitude before! Then the crazy chick shows up as the best friend of Jimmy’s new girlfriend, and his head is spinning.
I loved the relationship that was happening between Laney and Jackson. Even before I read this prologue novella, I had to go back and re-cap every interaction between them in Glimmer. It wasn’t even their book, but the relationship pretty much crackled throughout the virtual pages! Now, Fade is their story.
All up, At First Fight: A Fade novella, recaps their relationship, from their own POV, and ensures that Fade is stand-a-lone book. It has also whetted my appetite for more, and I’ve pre-ordered Fade already. 5 Stars.
I loved this little book! It was the perfect dose of Laney and Jackson I needed. After reading Ashley's debut, Glimmer, I couldn't wait to get more of them. Laney and Jackson are spitfires, a couple I couldn't wait to figure out. This was the perfect story, explaining how they met and how they came to know each other. The tension that builds between the two and the relationship forming left me swooning. Ashley did a fantastic job, writing this beautifully, and she left it on the perfect cliffhanger. I can't wait for Fade and the explosive sexy relationship to come!
Ashley Munoz draws you in with vivid imagery and excellent characterization. Her description of Laney's boss will read familiar, you'll see a bit of yourself or someone you know in Laney's nature, and surely Jackson will remind you of that one guy... you know the one. And while this Novella will torture you with its cliff hanging nature, it fills the void you felt when her first novel, Glimmer, ended and you had to step back into your own reality. Not that chasing after four kids and cleaning endless messes isn't glamorous ;)
At First Fight gives you a little taste of Jackson and Laney's story. I want more! You meet them in Glimmer which is the authors first book. Glimmer is amazing and definitely read it first. It's so good! I'm anxiously awaiting the next book.
At First Fight is the origin story of Laney and Jackson. Laney works for a company that provides startups for businesses and she is tasked with being the project manager for Jackson Tate’s new restaurant. She didn’t expect to find a man so infuriating she doesn’t know if she should punch him or kiss him. It’s volatile at best. Jackson felt threatened by Laney mainly because she sparked something in him that he didn’t like. When Jackson becomes an enemy then a tentative friend in need him and Laney settle on a truce.
This was a quick action-packed novella with some chemistry. It’s palpable and leaps off the page. This story is needed before you start Fade. I just hope Fade can live up to the chemistry and drama that this story brought. I’m excited to get started!
As i said in the headline of this review i wanted to have more of this😍i loved the cover, also on how ashley wrote it,how she played her words in her narrating. Cant wait to read Fade(coz im actually sad on a fast pacing part)looking forward to fade this April.
Wow.......this is just a prequel novella. How the hero and heroine meets and their first interaction is not so good. when she needs shelter he came forward to help her from there he started showing interest on her and their story continues in Fade (second book). This one is really good and I'm really hoping their story will be nice.
Oooooh! This was very enlightening..... Do you ever read a book and know that the other characters are going through their own life issues and wonder what they are? And then the author just goes right into writing a book for them that tells you nothing about what happened during the book that introduced them? Well this is the book that tells you what happened!!! I was so intrigued when I read Glimmer about the other couple that seemed to have some sparks prickling the air.... and this novella tells you what happened during the time that all was happening with Jimmy and Ramsey. I am even more excited now to get into Fade!!!
I had the privilege of Beta reading Fade (which featured the early stages of At First Fight) and I have to tell you it was like reacquainting yourself with past friends. I love how At First Fight reintroduces Laney and Jackson's story and fills in the missing or background story from Glimmer. I can't wait to see the changes and growth's both Laney and Jackson experience in Fade.
Laney and Jackson have a weird relationship. I can’t wait to see where it goes. We are given just enough information to start making predictions on what’s happening and then have more pieces of the puzzle to digest. I can’t wait to see where their relationship goes.
At First Fight is a quick read that gives you more insight into Laney and Jackson (if you read Glimmer). This was my first forage into works by Ashley Munoz and I can honestly say I had to quickly download Fade to see where this goes!!!!!!!
Loved being introduced to Laney andvJax... Seeing the outer story from 'Glimmer' from their perspective... Nice introduction to another quirky love story!
This is a great short and sweet story. I loved it. Its a must read for sure. Laney is such a sweet girl. Jackson is her best friend but seems to be growing into something more.
