Who's Your Daddy #6

Daddy's Brand

Rate this book
Harley Hayes knows as the first female intern at Three Bars Ranch, she'll be expected to hold her own with the other ranch hands. What she doesn't expect is to be unnerved by the quiet authority of Royce Altman, the commanding foreman whose Daddy Vibes her inner submissive tries hard to resist.

Royce Altman is affectionately called "Boss Man" by the men who respect him. But Harley's disdain for his authority is evident from the start. The pretty blonde has a chip on her shoulder as big as Texas, and that's the last thing he needs, given his current problems at the ranch.

Royce doesn't have time for defiance. He's tempted to deal with Harley in a time-tested, old-fashioned way. She's smart and ambitious, but that doesn't mean she couldn't benefit from some time over his knee.

When Harley challenges Royce one too many times, she quickly learns that this cowboy is determined to bare her bottom like the little girl she secretly longs to be. This Daddy Dom isn't shy about branding his feisty cowgirl, especially if it means keeping her safe from a dangerous rival.

Ava Sinclair

Ava Sinclair is a best-selling Amazon romance author who caters to readers who appreciate a plot driven book where the steamy sex complements the story, rather than overshadowing it.

A hopeless bibliophile, Ava avidly reads across multiple genres, and this is reflected in her varied body of work that spans contemporary, medieval fantasy, western, historical, time travel and sci-fi. She especially enjoys world-building and crafting interesting and relatable characters.

Because her books feature graphic sex and elements of power exchange, she gently cautions her readers to take her work for what it is – delightful, sexy escapism.

Ava lives in southern Virginia in a farmhouse tucked away on a wooded hilltop. The first thing she did after moving in was to rip out the dining room and turn it into a library/office. This is where she spends most of her days, writing and being ignored by her cats. When she’s not working, she enjoys roaming the woods around her house, or seeking the advice of Lucius, her Eagle Owl.

Not bad, very quick down dirty read. Got your spanking and hot sex. I got the book free. It’s kinda instant love but hey it’s fiction it can be.

Little dash of “daddy” kink but not the baby kind just the discipline kind with some domination. Very mild nothing over the top

I thought this book was more about a woman trying to survive in a male dominated industry and feeling like she is forced to do something that goes against her best interest, than it was about any aspect of Royce and Harley's relationship.

Also, the thing that Harley did that was NOT in her best interest had a lot to do with the way she had grown up with her father's treatment. One major thing in Royce's favor is that he specifically did not want her to do what she did. He was willing to back her 100% even at the cost of his career. Harley's anger and defiance (although somewhat understandable) also overshadowed the Royce/Harley relationship.

The entire way both Joel's and the ranch manager's behavior was handled was off putting. The behavior of Joel's mother was off putting. The only saving grace was that at least the other men in the ranch recognized what happened was wrong.

My dissatisfaction was as much with Harley as my anger at Joel, his mother, and the ranch manager. I have read this author's books before, and this is not what I expected. I would highly recommend that you read it for yourself and form your own opinion. This one just hit me the wrong way, and it had nothing to do with the Daddy Dom theme.

Luckily, I read this book via KU. I would give it 2.5 stars.

I liked this story, I love the majority of this author's books. This one I really didn't feel was very erotic (IMO). A very well written book about serious issues, yes; some erotica is in there but this is overwhelmingly the story of an intelligent, driven & assertive woman working to overcome the misogynist attitudes & putdowns of her DVM father.
Nothing Harley did ever impressed her father, his praise & focus only for her brother.
Harley goes to a university & becomes a star student in veterinary medicine, but again none of this impresses her father or gleans her the slightest bit of praise or support. Her status/resume earn her a plum internship on a working cattle & horse ranch & she shows up intense, primed, focused & ready for hard work.
Royce, the ranch foreman, & most of the other ranch hands learn to respect Harley but there are several important others on the ranch who do not. And later things come to a harsh & destructive head, endangering not only Harley's internship & future, but Royce's as well.
The author is a fantastic writer & I think it shows perfectly in this book. Misogyny, attempted assault/rape, parental expectations & criticism, standing virtually alone, the corrupt power of money & position, all were explored with a deft touch that engendered the reader's full support for Harley, & Royce.
I was angry, pleased, satisfied, hopeful & disappointed throughout the emotional story, fingers crossed Harley would somehow, someway receive justice.
There is steam, just not a lot IMO, a lot of excellent addressing of issues many women face in todays world via a hard working intelligent woman who is also able to continue to attempt to rise about the paternal negative voices in her head. Royce does help with that, able to provide her with a positive dominant male in her life, one who completely supports AND believes not only in her but her intelligence, strength, abilities & asperations.
Excellent story I liked a lot.

Ava Sinclair brings us a new Daddy, a fierce woman, and a total jerk, all in one book. What more can anyone ask for? Well, maybe a cowboy to sit and read it to me, but beggars can't be choosers, so I won't complain.

Harley is a vet student. When she graduates, she plans on going into practice as a large animal vet. To that end, she's applied to be an intern at the Triple Bar ranch. While working there, she'll be able to do a lot of things, including driving cattle the old-fashioned way. It will look good on her resume, and it will be something that she will really enjoy doing.

Royce is the foreman at the ranch. When he chose the first intern for the ranch, he didn't realize that Harley could be a woman's name as well, so when a petite woman shows up to start her first day, he's kinda floored. But, they can't discriminate against her on the basis of being female and she has the best resume, so he's going to give her a try. But, she's stubborn and bull headed, and won't listen well.

Overall, I liked Harley, but there were some particular things about her that I didn't care for much, but I think those all come from her father and her age, and aren't necessarily things that will stay with her for life. I totally get not wanting to let a man protect you and wanting to be as independent as possible, but you can take it a little too far, and I think Harley went to that point. It's a hard line to walk, and one that you can figure out as you get older. I think that Harley would've been less militant if she were older, but that's just my opinion. Other than that, I really do like her and like her together with Royce.

Daddy’s Brand is the sixth book in The Who’s Your Daddy series, but completely stands alone. Harley has arrived to be the new intern at the Three Bars Ranch, but nothing ever comes easy for Harley. Fighting against stereotypes, her attraction to the foreman, Royce, and trying to prove herself, are just some of what she’s up against. When her headstrong attitude goes against Royce’s steady dominance, their dynamic will change, but can Royce keep Harley safe when a dark threat is after them both?

Oh this book was so good! Entertaining, passionate, and a whole lot of drama had me flipping through the pages and dying to find out what would happen next! Harley and Royce were a dynamic couple, both knowing the magic and respect of animals, but having a few bumps in the early stages of their relationship. Harley definitely had a chip on her shoulder, but I loved when she was vulnerable and opened up about her family and her needs. Royce was passionate and loyal, wanting to do the right thing, wanting to trust in everyone, and wanting to protect and love Harley. I really enjoyed that there was an equal focus on what was going on with the ranch as well as the developing relationship between Royce and Harley! With everything going on with the owner’s son, trying to find the best course of action, and seeing where loyalties lie, this was truly an engaging book with a lot of heart, a bit of discipline, and a healing of finding one’s soul mate!

ONE DELIGHTFUL READ!!!
OMG! Wow! I'll get it out eventually. Maybe. Talk about one hot number! A whirlwind of emotions and events that pulls at those heartstrings and takes you in deeper than you thought you could go. This is one exciting, fast paced, hard hitting, pulse racing, heart pounding, nailbiting, page turning dynamo that's brought together beautifully. Totally engaging, mesmerizing, enthralling wonder that captures your attention until the last word. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, unexpected circumstances that make for one thrilling experience. The extremely strong connection and bonds along with instant chemistry and feelings that form between the main characters are steamy, off the charts, intoxicating and explosive. When danger comes calling some hard choices have to be made, and made they were. All the drama, fear, uncertainty, danger and suspense increases while tension spirals. An intense storyline and strong plot bring this read roaring to life brilliantly. The characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality it's easy to relate. The scenes are so vividly descriptive you have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play off one another perfectly. Ava weaves a world around you so completely until everything else ceases to exist. Ava did a remarkable job bringing this read together flawlessly. Remarkable job Ava, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.

Our heroine is a smart, capable woman who never got any support at home. But she continues to try, striving to do her best.

It took me a while to realize it, but I have decided there tend to be two aspects to daddy dom stories. The obvious one is the erotic play involving D/S, spankings and other steamy things. The second is more of an emotional need for support, praise (and punishment) from daddy, something that she may, or may not, have gotten from her biological father.

This story falls more in the second category. While there are some steamy scenes, the real focus in my mind is getting the respect and appreciation our heroine did not get at home. And with that in mind, I think this one hits the mark quite successfully. Yes, I was expecting more erotic delights, but the story grabbed my attention nevertheless.

The story was well written, with good solid characters. Of course, most of them were jerks, but I liked our hero and heroine. I fell there was good chemistry and found it to be a very enjoyable read.

Highly recommended.

Harley is a vet student who has an intern position at the Three Bars Ranch. She has "daddy issues" having been belittled her entire life by her father and never getting his approval. When she shows up for her first day, the ranch manager is overly sexist. The ranch foreman, Royce, is not but does want her to follow his orders. The other ranch hands are really nice except for the arrogant Joel, the owner's son, who is having to work his way up from the bottom to prepare him for eventually taking over the ranch. There is a lot that transpires in this story from a misdiagnosis, to sexual assault, to threats, connections and love. I really liked Royce and Harley though it bothered me that she didn't stand up for herself when push came to shove. I knew what was coming because of the title, "Daddy's Brand" but it still made me cringe with her calling him "daddy" and him calling her "little girl." Overall though, it was a good story.

Love a righteous Cowboy daddy!

Harley is a bold, smart vet student who is undeterred by the sexism she encounters when she rolls in to do her internship at the ranch. She’s definitely got a chip on her shoulder (for good reason) but she’s smart, sassy, and knows how to get things done.

The foreman on the ranch is sexy Royce who is dealing with a lot of drama with the owner’s useless son, but Royce keeps his cool and tries to keep everyone in line.

Eventually Royce realizes that Harley desperately needs a daddy (and a good spanking) and makes sure she gets what she needs! I would have loved for her to have “earned” her first spanking a little more, and for there have been a little more bratting and warning from Royce (he’d only mentioned his own upbringing, never really threatened her before he did it) which is my favorite part, but I liked these two a lot so it was a good read!

Way too many typos. A simple review should have eliminated a lot of them. My real problem was with several things that happened in the story. She was pressured to let a jerk get away with something even when she was in the right. She was way too defensive early in the story for no real reason. The claim was she didn't like authority but considering her work experience that didn't ring true. She would have had a lot more professional trouble if she responded to all bosses the way she reacted to Royce when they met. Rather than a story about female impowerment and overcoming prejudices this was more about a supposedly strong woman who still craved having someone take care of her. Believable, but not well executed. There were spankings, but even those didn't ring true. They felt more like random occurences which didn't move the story along.

Harley has landed a job at Three Bars Ranch that she knows she can handle but Clive the manager only sees that she is a woman and doesn’t need to be interning on the ranch. Royce sees different. He is the Foreman and knows Harley potential but when an incident occurs, he is being forced to make a choice.

Clive is a jerk. You would think the manager would be open minded but he is a sexist. And Joel is just plan spoiled. Im glad that Harley was a tough cookie. She didn’t put up with any BS and she took care of things when it got heated. She really didn’t need much of a Daddy in discipline. It was more the caring and positive drive that she lacked and needed. Royce was that and more. Let’s face it, who wouldn’t want a handsome cowboy to sweep them off their feet.

This was a great story! I didn't want it to end.

Harley shows up for her first day of her internship at a ranch. She is in school to become vet specializing in large animals. When she meets the foreman, Royce, she is surprised by his attitude. She wants to be treated as the same everyone else. Royce takes his job very seriously and is surprise at how well she does after a couple of days. There is some resistance to her being there though. Royce and Harley feel a connection but have a difference of opinions on somethings. Harley is in need of someone who will be there for her and share her successes. When she is attacked, it brings them closer together. Will they be able to make a relationship work when some things come to light?

Highly recommend this book.

Harley may be the best and everything she attempts in life but she will never be good enough for her father main reason she is a female. So when as part of her veterinary degree she needs to do an internship she applies to the Three bar ranch and as the most qualified applicant gets the job. Royce the foreman is stunned when a petite young woman turns up at the ranch for the internship he never thought that Harley could be a woman 's name but he is willing to give her a go he won't discriminate against he because of her sex but not everyone on the ranch feels that way. This is an excellent story though a lot tamer than most of this authors books but it does handle a fairly sensitive subject discrimination in the workplace be it sexual or any other kind

A really good cowboy romance! 💞💖🤠💞

Harley is a veterinarian intern and is hired on to the Three Bars Ranch by the ranch foreman, Royce. But Royce thought he was hiring a male intern but has decided that if she can do the job, then there isn't a problem. Too bad not everyone on the ranch feels the same way. This story has a lot going on and then there is the attraction between Royce and Harley that evolves into so much more. 💕💗🔥💕

I really enjoyed this is a fairly quick read. ❤️️

It's really well written and developed so you don't feel like you are missing anything. It does deal with a Daddy Dom and spanking but in all honesty, Harley does earn it. 🤔😉

An enjoyable read. I liked that Harley wasn't going to just be a mild, meek little mouse and actually stood up for herself (at least most of the time). Royce was protective and fair in his dealings with Harley. The story is good and the author does a great job of making us hate the arrogant a$$hat (and his enablers) that believes he is better than everyone else and can do what he wants. Fairly short and can be read in about 2 hours. Though we are told what is supposed to happen at the end, I would have enjoyed a small epilogue about what did happen. There are some minor editing errors that cause me to pause and re-read (a little distracting). Overall, it is an entertaining tale.

Ranch romance drama
Trope: Western romance
Spice: Low
Romance: Zero
Plot: Medium
World building: Low
Notes: Side dash of 'say daddy', no age play.
Triggers:

I think this book is kinda mismarketed. It's very plot focused on the mc's career and trying to make it successful. Also deals with some outer drama and personal trauma. Then there is a tad bit of sex tossed in that is very light daddy kink. I honestly wouldn't even put this into the daddy trope.

One more thing..

Harley - a veterinary intern on a working ranch (yes: mistakenly taken for a male by the mysogenistic ranch manager, not to mention everyone else!)
Royce, the ranch foreman who everyone likes/respects, and who has to deal with a "woman" - with the accepted conclusions.
Joel, the lazy, uncouth son of the owner who causes (obvious) problems.
And that's it. Fairly normal instant attraction/nasty villain type of story. OK, but - reduced to 1.5 stars because of the final chapters having continuity errors, and wrong names, and wavering POV's. (Almost as if the author couldn't care less about the ending) :(

Cowboy lovin’

Harley is a veterinary student with a chip on her shoulder, but an excellent worker with an attitude even though she is small in stature. Royce is the Ranch foreman and quite enamored of Harley.
Joel is the trouble maker and forces Royce and Harley to share their feelings.
I liked this book because our hero was take charge but not forcing himself in your face. Our heroine has a lot to prove and manages to do while earning the others respect. I would definitely recommend.

A strong cowboy meets a strong young woman. Harley is a vet student who has never met her father's approval. She applied for an internship at a working ranch for the experience thinking it will help her resume.
Royce the ranch foreman supports Harley and her quest to work on the ranch. He even angers the ranch manager by doing so, putting his job in jeopardy.
The reader experiences a mixture of feelings as they read the ups and downs that Harley face.

I really enjoyed this book and will look for more books by Ava Sinclair.

Yummy daddy-dom AND a cowboy romance!

Harley is a spitfire and a wild cat, and it's all Royce can do to keep from taming her his way. The chemistry between these two is beyond intense, and their romance shot fireworks off that could be seen for miles. Well written and exactly what we're looking for, this book delivers on its premise and is very satisfying, indeed. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

It was a good western romance between a foreman and a vet intern. There is a really good villain in this one too. Some heat some domestic discipline, but really it is pretty tame. The storyline is what stands out and I liked how much depth these were to the characters in such a short piece of work. I really enjoyed reading this one the dd was pretty realistic too and played well into the story. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Not quite what they expected.
The main female character is named Harley, she applied for an intern on a ranch and was accepted. The problem is, they thought she was a he and so this causes some friction. The men accept (or not) her in their own ways, but drama and romance also come with the deal! It’s a great story-line and very well written. Once you start reading it’s hard to put it down. I had to force myself to stop reading in order to get some sleep. I loved that Ava incorporated a story line for Harley that is very current and completely believable. The relationship between Royce and Harley is very heartwarming. I will gladly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read.

This was a great fast paced read. Wonderful characters as always with this author and a good strong storyline with plenty of twists and turns and quite a bit of grit!
Harley and Royce don't get off to a good start but the chemistry is there. She needs a Daddy, even if she doesn't know it and he needs a baby girl to care for.
Really good read!

Great story line

This story was really good. And easy read with interesting characters. Instead of just one hero there were several. Of course Royce being the main one, the ranch hands, the vet, and the owner of the ranch all stood up to the spoiled rich son. Royce showed what a strong leader could accomplish. Harley stood her ground but had a huge chip on her shoulder that only an equally strong man could harness in the right direction. I strongly recommend this book.

If you can ignore the many errors...

This could be a really good story. It was interesting and fun, but the author really needs someone to read her work after her and fix the errors. It's so frustrating to get stuck in a place trying to figure out what the author is trying to say. And you got so many sentences that don't make sense, you definitely need help proofreading. Please get some good advanced readers. It will make your work so much more enjoyable.

Another great add to the series.

Love this genre and this read did not disappoint. I enjoyed Royce and Harley character and their chemistry just sizzles from start to finish. Another great add to the series that brings the heat level with the sweet journey that was a joy to follow.

Royce is a little too alpha male for my taste, and yet I find myself drawn to him. I really didn't like the spanking thing at first, but he was so supportive and considerate of Harley's feelings, and obviously a one-woman man. I'm not sure I'd want to be with him, but I certainly enjoyed their story.
