Investigating the Billionaire

Rate this book
She's a reporter who needs to uncover a story. He's a billionaire who mistakes her for his new chef. Is it a recipe for a disaster … or a recipe for love?

Tessa Berkley has one last shot to keep her job. Her assignment: find out what illegal activity local billionaire Beckett Stone is doing. He’s consorting with ex-cons, and in her experience, people with money don’t do good things with it. But when she’s mistaken for his new chef, she sees him in a new light—and her growing attraction to him makes her hope he's not guilty.

Beck Stone is married to his work. He can manipulate business to his liking, but the same can’t be said for love. That’s why he’s caught off guard when he wants to get to know his new chef. But he has to stay focused on the job. His family is counting on him to finish his latest project and keep it secret, and nothing will stand in the way—not even his growing attraction to Tessa.

When Tessa discovers the truth, will she choose to save her job or her new relationship while she’s investigating the billionaire?

My Thoughts:

I've read pretty much every Eliza Boyd book since the beginning, so I jumped at the chance to read the first book in her sweet billionaire series. The plot intrigued me, and once I started reading, it was even better than expected.

You immediately connect with Tessa as she is dealing with some serious issues with keeping her current job. She's required to get this story in Beckett, or else she is finished as a reporter. This situation would make anyone panic, but Tessa manages to get in a position to find out the truth behind Beckett's alleged shady dealings. Can't-cook-a-thing Tessa becomes Beckett's chef by accident, yet she runs with it to get her story.

Investigating the Billionaire was super funny and so, so cute. I absolutely adored watching their relationship develop and became nervous as certain truths came to light. Tessa and Beckett made the perfect match. I can't wait to read the rest of these lovely books!

Investigating the Billionaire is a good read. However, I knocked it down two stars for a couple of reasons:

~ Toward the end of the book, there were several spelling/grammatical errors (usually, this doesn't bother me, but these made me reread the sentence)

~ The characters were believable right up to the end. There is no way that a blog can take off within a day of making the first post. And no way is anyone going to get sponsors within a week or two. First, not enough people will find it in a day, and second, the blog wouldn't have enough content in a week or two for sponsors.

~ A huge plot hole: When Audrey pushed Tessa into Jaime's position, neither Gwen nor Beck checked the discrepancy. There were plenty of times they would have noticed something was wrong. It made both of them look as though they shouldn't even be flipping burgers, never mind as the secretary to the CEO and CEO/owner.

Otherwise, I loved the plot behind this one.

This is definitely one of those clean, sweet Hallmark type tales. Tessa is your downtrodden h looking after her sister & Beck a good guy married to his job. Their paths meet when she is sent to investigate him. A case of mistaken identity.
They both have a common interest in something which is found in both their families. The attraction is instant & when the inevitable happens we don't have the angsty drama you see in other books. It's all dealt with & doesn't go on forever.
Definitely recommended for a holiday read.

Tessa was not looking forward to doing her next story about a Billionaire, when she was scouting her story her friend drops her in it saying she was his new chef, only problem with that is she can't cook for toffee. Beck was close to finishing his pet project to help his nephew and was keeping it close to his chest. His new chef was different he found it easy to talk to her but still had to keep things quiet. This great story has a few laughs and some very touching parts so have a tissue handy, I think everyone will love this story it's was just a pleasure to read.

This was a sweet and nice read. It was funny seeing Tessa go along with her mistaken identity and try to make the best of it. But it was also sweet how she was falling for him. Her sister was awesome! I love how Autism was included in there and how it actually brought them together because of it; even if there was a misunderstanding. I am glad they got over it and finally realized they were meant to be together.

Tessa is a reporter whose last story was a bust so now she is called into her editor's office and offered a undercover story she can't refuse. She goes undercover as a chef for Beck Stone the billionaire who works non-stop building his company so when Tessa turns up as the new chef he can't seen to focus on anything else but she but Tessa needs to find out why he is involved with ex-convicts.

Wow. This is such a great story and I’ll be reading more from this author.
The connection between Beck and Tessa is so strong you root for them to get together. With the misunderstandering of her being his new chef, I couldn’t wait to see what he did when he found out and I wasn’t disappointed.
With enough tension and two clear pov’s, putting this book down isn’t an option once you start.
Character growth is good. Structure and pace is about right.
This is one I’d recommend to any romantic.

Investigating the Billionaire is the story of Tessa, a reluctant reporter with a heart, and Beck, a man married to his work. Both these amazing characters are devoted to their family and the family privacy. Both families are deeply affected by autism. This is a charming, well written romance. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

This is the 1st book I’ve read written by Eliza Boyd; she has done a good job at writing a good book. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

Tessa has one chance to save her job as an investigating reporter. She has to find the dirt on Beckett Stone, owner of Jack Stone Enterprises. He's been seen talking with ex cons. Beckett life has been his work. He has secrets he doesn't want the public to know? Will Tessa find out what they are and can she keep from falling for Beckett?- Great read and the characters were interesting.

It was only an assignment. Tessa hates to lie but she’s desperate to help her sister. Life’s been hard on Tessa and her younger sister Sarah. Beckett is a man trying to do a noble thing but he’s got conditions to meet. Great story about an unlikely couple who each have trust issues. Misunderstanding, deceptions and mistaken identity evolve into a good story.

This was my first “billionaire” romance ever, and I only read it because I was intrigued by the mistaken identity trope. It was nice. If you enjoy clean Hallmark stories, this is the book for you. Characters were very well developed as well as their romance, and their backstories had more depth than I expected. Good vacation read.

Sweet

A very sweet story of real life happenings. Its about family, good and bad. Accepting family with all they are. Its also about communication, how it can go off the rails if not communicated correctly or truthfully, moral standards , that you need to expect from yourself as well as others. Believe what your gut is telling you. Was very well written .
