This is a Fancy Nancy book based on the TV series. These books aren't among my favourites, but they're still good, clean fun with cute illustrations and clear, positive messaging.

Nancy and her family are having a yard sale. Nancy's fine with selling all her old baby toys until she spots Miss Moo, a favourite. She doesn't want Miss Moo to be sold, so she tries various things to take her off the market. But when Bree's little brother spots the toy and really wants it, Bree buys it for him as a birthday surprise. Nancy is devastated and convinces Bree to let her have the toy back. But in a sweet show of empathy, Nancy ends up relinquishing the toy when she remembers how much it meant to her when she was three.

The pictures are consistent and tolerably cute, which is about all I can really say about them. I much prefer Robin Preiss Glasser's originals. TV Nancy just doesn't seem fancy enough!

Fans of Nancy (and of the TV show in particular) will probably want to check this one out.

Julianna says she was not impressed lol we did not like she gave away her favorite toy from age 3 lol although it was nice she did. Guess Julianna are sentimental ;-) but she likes the fancy words Fancy nancy uses which make her laugh.

Nancy's family is having a yard sale, some places call these garage sales, other places call them tag sales. Nancy is ready toget rid of her baby toys, until she sees one toy in particular. What will Nancy do?

Very CUTE book, by which I mean there's plenty of pink and frilly stuff, and cutesy cartoon style character illustrations (though interestingly the neighborhood setting is drawn in quite realistic fashion). This is not usually my thing, and I almost gave up on the book as soon as I opened it.

I'm so glad I didn't! What I love, absolutely LOVE about this story, is how the kids are given the space to resolve their conflict on their own. There's no lecturing or "guidance" from adults, and nobody is made to look like the villain in the disagreement over who gets to have the coveted toy. In the end all the kids get to feel a little more "grown up," and relationships are valued over material belongings. I'd love to see more of this in children's literature.
